I don't get why its called Chocolate. Did someone think that sounded cool or is it aimed at little kids?

Firstly, Does a name really matter that much?

If so, the original version, sold in Korea had a box that was scented like chocolate and the box looked like a box of chocolates.

The word chocolate is not to be taken "literrally", although Verizon will in their ads.

Chocolate is reminiscient of the Calvin Klein "Obsession" ads. Obsession was not a description of the product but a state of mind that was acheived when wearing it.

Chocolate is not candy, but the impulsive desire to want it when you see it.

At least my mouth waters when I see chocolate.

More importantly, does it really matter whether or not it matters to anybody? That's a condition of whether or not you provide a box of chocolates story? Interesting.

The word chocolate is not to be taken "literrally", although Verizon will in their ads.

And just how will Verizon take the word literally? Will they tell us it's literally chocolate colored? Chocolate scented? Chocolate flavored? This will be interesting to see.

"Obession" was the name of the product, used in the ads to describe an attribute of the perfume-- that using it makes a person an obsession of another/others.

I can't wait to see how VZW spins the chocolate angle on this candy bar slider.

If you ever seen how crazy Koreans get over Valentine's day, you will understand why LG Marketed this phone that way (very successfully I might add)

Obsession was an attibute of the product?

Well, then how can I bottle up some obsession cause I have lots of people who I'd love to give some to!

Obsession was a marketing term that tried to stir an emotional response. Obession perfume doesn't make people obessed in the literal word.

Chocolate is like that, an indulgence that people have a hard time resisting. That is what the VX8500 is trying to emote in Verizon's and LG's advertising (when it's out).

And I have seen the print stuff, it has the phone wrapped in a candy bar (like Hersheys).

Can't get more Chocolate ...

Please, if you're going to put the a word in quotations, spell it properly.

It makes me think you are not "litterit" yourself.

Part of the name issue is the fact that when it's open the LG VX-8500 is the same size as a Hershy's Chocolate bar.

Somehow I doubt that's the reasoning for naming this phone Chocolate. The GSM verison of this phone came out overseas last year. And while Hershey's is globally known, I do not believe that LG would name a phone after it.

And futhermore, have you actually held or seen this phone? I have. It's not the size of a Hershey's chocolate bar.

Probably because it's a "cadybar" style phone. It's also dark colored. It's also a "sweet" phone, and honestly, why the hell not?

The question you should be asking is after they called the 9800 the "v", why not name the 8500 the chocolate... or chocolate, not "the chocolate".
