I wonder if there is someone that I can petition at Verizon to add a phone that has an FM radio?

Well, on your suggestion, I did. I emailed Motorola and told them I wanted FM in the next Verizon phone. I am sure now to see it soon!

XM radio is sold in Canada through Telus on the LG 8100 and Samsung A950.
XM is a WAP based J2ME protocol that is available on EV-DO handsets.
So in actuality, you are incorrect. You have to petition Verizon to sign up XM or Sirius and then it will be available on most Ev-DO handsets, WITHOUT A SOFTWARE UPGRADE.

I know about the 6256i. I almost got this phone, but then Nokia started putting out some other, much nicer phones. I like Nokia the best, but Verizon does not have much to choose from that Nokia produces. I felt like the 6256 was slightly old technology, then I waited, and now I think its even older. Plus, I can't get it from Verizon but have to go to another vendor. I actually went to Radio Shack to get one, but discovered that Radio Shack has stopped offering Verizon phones, at least the ones near me have.
