Sorry, can't answer that for you. I live in a good area for reception, I guess, because I have never had a problem with reception with any Verizon phone for the 7 years I have been with them.

first of all forget about the bars, them mean squat. I have had phones at my house showing 2-3 bars and not ring in or drop calls, while other phones showing 0-1 bars worked great with no problems. I have had an 8000-8100 and a moto razr-815. I was worried about the chocolate not having an antenna sticking out, but not to worry. Phones at my house show different symptoms. Number one and a no sell for me is missing incoming calls or dropping calls, the lg4500,lg600, and a few motos did this to me. Now the lg8000 was the best, never dropped a call and could use evdo/vcast at my house. The 8100 I never dropped a call but evdo/vcast is hit or miss. The 815 will drop calls every now and then and vcast/evdo drops as soon as i try to connect. Razr ...

thanks for your input mary and yeahright 🙂

i really like the fact that this phone is different, and that's why i want to get it...but i also live in an area with real sketchy reception (upper valley, mountains) and it would be of no use to have such a nice phone and not be able to hold calls at home. i know that the number of bars doesn't necessarily mean that the phone will/won't hold the call...but i've had more dropped calls recently than ever before. i've narrowed my choices to this, 8300, and the RAZR - but i will definitely consider this more after your input.

I sell verizon in the NC mountains, and in my experience, the RAZR isn't so hot for reception, but the 8300 is great... no customer feedback on the chocolate yet, though.

hmm...ok, i'll have to see...because we're moving pretty soon anyway and i'm not sure where we'll re-locate too...but i reckon it's safe to have a cell is excellent reception anyway. if i had to put down the order of what phones i would consider the most, it would be the chocolate, the 8300, and lastly the RAZR.
