Funformobile.com
I used funformobile.com to send some music clips to my phone. I was going to use them as my ringers, but when I try to play them nothing happens. I used audacity to create the clips. When the clips were first created, they were in aud form. I renamed them as an mp3 and sent them to my phone. The files have a yellow bell next them on the ringtone menu. Any help would be great.

hmmm....two things:
1) try shutting the phone off, and then back on again. For some reason i dl'ed all my ringtones, they worked for a while, then stopped. I shut the phone off, turned it back on...and no problems.
2) ummmm....its late and i forgot number 2. ill repost when i think of it...

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to get the lame codec and convert them to mp3. One more quick question. How do I go about deleting the ringtones that don't work?

You can delete ringtones from the ringtone folder by going to Menu, Get It Now, Get Tunes and Tones, then My Ringtones. From there you can highlight the ringtone you want to delete and select options then erase. Hope that helps.

funformobile will only convet wma and mp3, my guess is they didn't format right and that is why your phone will not recognize them. If you have a straight mp3, cut it using a cutter and see what happens. Remember with funformobile or any messaging of tones the clips must be less than 350kb in size. anything bigger will not go through properly. You might check that as well. I downloaded mp3 cutter from cnet, it allows you to change the bitrate and size of clip altering the file size. The trial version is free and only allows 30sec cuts, but that is perfect for ringtone size clips. mp3 cutter also will only take wma or mp3 files so if it rejects the song file you are trying to cut you know you have an issue before ever sending it.

you can't just rename them if they are in audacity form. You need the "lame mp3" program that works with audacity to convert them into mp3 format. Once you download it, you go back into audacity and make your music clip and when you go to the option to convert it, it will ask you to locate the lame mp3 and once you do that the clip is automatically turned into an mp3. It can be downlaoded where you downloaded audacity.then you should be fine.
I was also able to send a ringtone from my mothers phone which is a sony ericsson 600 and use it as a ringtone on the 8500. once the message came in, I went to options and it lets you set it as a ringtone there. hope one of these methods work for you!

Here is what you have to do .... get Auducity ----> http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ then get LAME codec ----> http://www.codec-download.com/modules.php?nam e=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=433 OR if you have a MAC you can find the LAME codec here http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=in stall&item=lame-mp3 Unzip the codec. After you unzip the file refer to this site http://www.jakeludington.com/podcasting/20050 222_configuring_audacity_and_lame_mp3.html (Audacity Preferences-File Formats-Find Library-Locate where you saved the extracted LAME codec-Click OK) your Audacity is now set up to export .mp3's out of the program. Then once you configure your ringtone the way you want it in Audacity go to File-Export as MP3-Select save location, then you...
