Trying to decide between LG Chocolate and Motorola KRZR...help!

I am up for an early upgrade and am trying to decide between these 2 phones. Currently I have the VX8100. I am also considering the 8300, which is the upgrade to the 8100, but I think it is very similar to what I already have. I love the 8100, but have had it about a year and half now and want something new.

So from what I've read on the spec, the Chocolate and the KRZR both have very similar features. I looked at both phones in the store today and I must say I like the look of both phones. I definitely like the narrowness of the KRZR compared to the RAZR, but it looks a bit long. The Chocolate looks very sleek. I have always been a big LG fan too.

But I am not sure if I can get used to the touch of the wheel and the small key...

First let me say this. I have the 8300 and my fiancee has the Chocolate.
Here's my take:
The KRZR should be instantly out. It's a RAZR that just looks prettier. It still runs VZW's old UI (which should be updated or gone by now)
My personal preference is the 8300. You lose the better media player, the more dynamic flash UI (which is kind of slow) and the touch controls the Chocolate offers, but you gain the better sound, battery life, more downloadable content and a faster flash UI.
Anyhow, there are the pluses and minuses of each in my experience. We have both phones on my plan and we each like our particular phone. It's purely preference. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips. Can I ask, what is UI? When I first got my 8100, I did use the mp3 player a lot at the gym. But after a few months, I just stopped using it altogether. I am not the type of person that is really into listening to music everywhere I go. I just listen to it in the car pretty much. Otherwise, I don't even own an iPod and don't plan to get one.

Can I ask what you don't like about the Chocolate? To be perfectly honest, I like the looks of the 8100 over the 8300, not crazy about the grey color on the 8300. The Chocolate is beautiful, but of course I have not used it so I do not know how practical it is in use. And just how long does the battery on the Chocolate last compared to the 8300? My 8100 lasts about 2 o...

I have gotten the chance to check out both of them. But I own the Chocolate. I have had the 8100 and the 9800 in the past. Oh and UI means User Interface, basically the menu style. The Chocolate gives you a few different options on what you want the menu to look like. The keypad isnt the best for text messaging but it isn't bad. As far as the charger thing goes. Neither one of the phones will use the same charger as the 9800. LG changed the style on the chocolate. Personally I am not a motorola fan at all. I am LG all the way. I LOVE my chocolate, but I use alot of the music features on it. One of my favorite features is the stereo bluetooth. If you get the stereo BT headset you can have your music go to the headset so that is nice when work...

Chelsea VZW, thanks for the tips. Wow I can't believe it doesn't use the same charger as the 8100 and 9800. That REALLY sux. Right now I am able to share home charger and car charger with hubby's 9800.

How do you like the touch keys on the front? As far as texting goes, I do not text too often, and although the keypad on the Chocolate is smaller than my 8100, it doesn't look too bad. Did you get used to the keypad pretty quickly?

I am almost ready to go in the store and buy the phone full retail price just to test it out. I can get an early upgrade but I have to call Verizon directly and have them ship it to me, so I don't know if I want to wait. Do the Verizon stores let you just purchase the phone for full retail and no contra...

playing games on the choco sucks☹️ That is one of the reasons i am wanting the 9900 so bad, texting and games cannot be touched on the 9800 and the 9900 will fix the size issue. As far as the zrzr vs. choco, I would go with the choco, you wil probably like the flash ui and customization available on the chocolate. The krzr will be exact same menu layout and work the same way your 8100 did in a different shell. So if you want somenthing different then go with the chocolate.

Neither one...Wait a bit longer for the LG 8600 or the Samsung U740. Both are slim type phones like the razr/kazr. LG's will be out in 2 weeks and the samsung U740 which is bad ass in my opinion is going to knock everyone on there ASS. It'll be a slimtype phone(actually) smaller than a razr with a full qwerty keyboard.

Enjoy,

Actually, it's the 710 and I agree. Here's pics of it for those who haven't seen it yet.
