When you upgrade a phone with a newer software upgrade, does it erase EVERYTHING. Including contacts, music, pics, ect...

You should not lose any info from the software update. All my pix flix were there.
Can't say for sure that it won't happen though. My recommendation would be to back-up anything you don't want to lose via BitPim (w/Data cable).
