LG VX-8600 / AX-8600

Is there anyway to watch videos or movies (obviously compressed) on the phone? If so, what format would they have to be in?

I am with alltell and got my 8600 about a week ago and I love it and I got a usb cable today to connect it to my laptop so i could use BITPIM to add ringtones to my phone but when i connect the phone to my computer it says that the device has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. Is there a certain driver I need or anything i am doing wrong?

If you are looking for a LG 8600, try your wal-mart. They have them and the price is $48.88 for a 2 year contract, that includes upgrades. the wal mart I went to in Iowa had 5 of them. They said that stores are calling them asking if they can get them, so not all wal marts have them. I would say that this is your last chance to get a 8600 before they are gone.

They also also had the 8300 for $15.

im am getting a message when i try and sending ring tones to my phone "directory has been blocked by the provider " is there any way around this?
i did just get the new software update if that helps

Help! I want to turn off EVDO in hopes of extending the battery life. I tried the following, but it didn't work:
To disable EVDO, click menu --> 000000 --> Network Select --> Mode Preference --> 1x Only

When I click Menu and start entering the 0's, the phone thinks I'm trying to dial a number. I don't know if this is something that was changed with the new software version (V3) or not.

On my old LG phone, when I click Menu and start entering 0's, a screen automatically pops up that says Service Code.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a remedy for it?

Hey guys any firmware hacks for this phone to install java? or just put games on it yet. Im wondering if anyone hacked the verizon version yet

Is there a way to set vibrate mode on the AX8600 without opening it?

So i updated my phone at Verizon last week to V03, went home and decided to use BitPim to send more wallpapers to my phone. When i tried to connect to my find it gave me a sign that said Your Service Provider Does Not Allow Access To This Directory. I tried every directory (wallpaper, ringtones, music), and it gave me the same warning. The only change that I see with this new update is a warning that comes up when you delete text messages, it asks if you want to delete all messages, or keep unread messages. Also it adds a couple pictures and a couple moving wallpaper. That's all the changes I could find. Why do you do this to me Verizon? I finally found my perfect phone and you cripple it!

This phone is suppossed to support haveing different ring tones for different contacts,
(and I have tried setting that up), but regardless of who is calling, it keeps using the 'default' ringtone. (Which IS changeable), but it ends up ALWAYS using that ringtone, regardless of the caller. What am I doing wrong or do I have a firmware problem.

Im considering getting this or the 8700 and i was wondering with the 8600 is it possible to send pix/flix/sounds via bluetooth phone to phone with the 8700? i linked them together in a verizon store and it said the 8600 had obex, and the 8700 had the ability to send pix/sounds/flix but i didnt see this option anywhere on the 8600, the 8700 had this option however...

also can somebody explain exactly what obex is and opp when it comes to bluetooth?

i've heard conflicting stories saying the 8600 can communicate with other phones via bluetooth and send pix/flix/sounds as long as they are unprotected files.

Also are there any future LG phones on the horizon that have more bluetooth support? it seems like verizon is getting more easy wit...

Is there a way to have both the ring and vibrate at the same time? I'm coming from a Palm 700w that my dog ate and am a bit spoiled.

the other day i went into the verizon store in my area because i was having trouble with my battery lasting so they had a software upgrade it seems to help but now when i go to use my bitpim it says something like your carrier has locked the function they want you to buy ringtones through them. has anyone else had this problem?

where do i go to be able to get this feature:

It has text-to-speech. For example: If sommeone is calling you it will say the following for example:

"Call from 614-794-2007"
"Call from Restricted"
"Call from Home"
"New message from Susan"

I would greatly appreciate it if someone can tell me how I can use my MP3's and sounds as ring tones? I have a prepay account which piggybacks of the Verizon tower so I have no e-mail if it's required. ☹️

i don't know if this has been asked already or not but i didn't see it. i was wondering if there is a way to keep the music player from starting by pushing that buttons on the front. there are times when its in my pocket and it will start playing and i don't want that to happen thanks ahead of time.

My friend a couple days a go got the enV and his aim is a more updated version than mine I tried updating it but it said that it was the most updated version.

I've been digging around in the menus, but I have not located a setting for this.

Is there a way to make the external display on the LG VX-8600 stay on longer so that you get longer than 5 seconds to try to press a side button to read a text message? Or even leave it on permanently so that you have a clock without needing to activate the sense-touch buttons?

Please let me know if you have insight into this dilemma.

My husband & I are trying to choose between the 8600 and the 8300 phones. One of the features he needs is the vibrate then ring. He works outside & has "lost" his phone more than once when set to vibrate. This feature allows the phone to switch to ring if not answered on vibrate. Has been crucial to finding phones.

Does either of these phones have this feature? All that shows on search is vibrate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!
