The iPhone isn't the only new music phone on AT&T. The W580i packs a big sound into a tiny slider. With video tour. read review ›

Battery
I love Sony Ericsson phones and have had several. I really like this phone, but I HATE the battery life (or lack of battery life).
Other than that ANNOYING problem, I love the phone and the features.
Don't be fooled by it's pretty face!
I switched my service from Verizon to AT&T for this phone because i just thought that it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Since December (about 4 months) i have gone through a black one, a gray one AND the pink one. Although i hoped and prayed that that pink one would finally hold out, it did not. It was a beautiful phone with a great screen and so many little bells and whistles. I loved pretty much everything about it and would have kept it for forever and beyond.....BUT!!! This phone is s**t. Straight up crap. It works beautifully for the first few weeks and people will ooh and aah over the screen and how cool it is, but you will soon find yourself wanting to throw it into a wall. To end my rant, here are my lists of pros and cons:
Pros:
-Beautiful screen
-Nice camara (but no flash)
-Video DJ
-Fitness apps
-Pedometer
-IT WAS PINK!!!!
-Very tiny and compact
-Nice sound for a tiny phone
-The walkman button right one the front is fabulous
-Shake control to change calls...ingenius!
Cons:
-The buttons WILL crack. This is registered in ATT as a product advisory. All i can say for this is that the black phone's buttons seem mildly more resiliant.
-After the buttons crack, they will eventualluy stop working
-The phone starts to get buggy and move slowly
-The T9 SUCKS
-Buttons are tiny
-FRAGILE-If you drop this phone once, you might as well throw it out.
-The phone backing doesn't properly align
-Media net button is in THE worst place ever. This phone unlocks itself (yet another con) and your internet WILL turn on if that button is touched. Enter ginourmous cell phone bill.
-Phone begins to freeze and will not work unless you do a hard restart
-For some reason, you have to wait a few minutes before trying to turn on the phone when you power it down. If you try to hold down the power button, it will do nothing
-Uses that freaking sony SD stick. Whenever i DID find one, a 1gig was like $70!
-NOT enough memory without said sony SD stick
Awsome Phone
I got his phone about 2 moths and and i am very pleased with it. If u want a fun phone then get this phone. It has cool light patterns. The call quality is excellent. Five Stars and A Thumbs ^
Very Very Good
Has to be one of the very best phones I've ever used... Great for music and Pictures and and has almost the best service as far as signal that I have ever seen.
pros: music
camera
signal
data cable
stereo ear piece
cons: none......
Speaker not working.
Hey, two weeks back i bought the phone. I liked the phone very much. However, recently I was charging the phone. Left it for charging for the entire night.
When I saw in the morning. I had many missed calls. I never got any alerts regarding the calls. I had put the phone in normal mode. I tried to play the music player it was not working nor any of the sound clips.
I then, restarted the phone then the speaker started to work.
Do you guys also face this problem.
Other than this I have not faced any problems with the phone. Its an excellent piece.
3rd party dealer
let me just say this phone has got it all! this is are least returned hand set. Everyone that gets this phone loves its slim thin design. the music/ fm tuner in the phone is wonderful never be without music again. i had a chance to play with this phone and must say i love it. if you want music and a cool slider phone this maybe the phone for you!
Couldn't ask for a better mp3 phone
I had this phone with cellular one. When I decided to switch to at&t I had a hard time choosing a phone. I knew I loved the 580i but wanted to try something different. After 2 other phones, Motorola V9 and Samsung A737, I have now decided to go back to this one. What a waste of time that was. It is hands-down the best quality sound on a phone. Although AT&T locks some features on theirs, it is the phone for anyone who likes using the speaker for music or even XM mobile.
PROS:
Great Sound
Nice Screen Quality
Very Customizable
Takes a beating.
CONS:
Plastic Housing
AT&T programming locks features like using full mp3's as ringtones. Very annoying.
Grey version has a poor keypad. No problems with the Orange keypads.
Slide is a little clunky.
Nice
I have had this phone for about 2 months (which means I actually USED the phone for a while b4 reviewing it). I have had no problems with cracked keys, and I am a heavy texter, and key size is fine, but I have small hands. No problems with pocket calls, either. I love this phone. It sounds great, it is loud enough, and the camera is great. I only have one problem with this phone...it does not have enough memory on it's own. My z525 had more memory than this phone. I can get the memory sticks at cost, but I can see where they would be high if someone was paying retail. Also, at&t took out the Disc2Phone software and USB cable, and disabled Track ID, but that is not SE's fault so that won't matter in the rating. I had to buy a USB, but you can download the software free on the SE website.
Cool little phone but dont pay big bucks 4 it.
I love the look of this phone, I have the silver/orange one & there is a green/black one out there I would have killed for.
I also got it for $30 w/ a 2yr re-up after a rebate from ATT/Cingular. If this phone had cost me a couple hundred like many other phones I might be annoyed by its flaws.
PRO's:
-Looks great, feels great too weight and thickness wise.
-Very well lit, can find your way around in a power outage with it.
-Good all around phone.
CON's:
*note*
I'm going to list lots of them, but I still think this phone was a good purchase. I think that people are looking at reviews to find out the drawbacks so here they are.
*endnote*
First and Foremost, this phone is fragile, I'm not easy on my phones I live in the city, take public transportation often and have dropped this phone a few times. But compared to my 810 and Razer this phone is brittle. In 4 months 3 keys have developed hairline fractures. I hope its not going to get worse but that is troubling.
Other minor cons:
-The keys are tiny, if you are an avid texter make sure you try this phone out in a store before you buy.
-The SE internet key is a pita where it is located on this phone.
-The sound gets great volume but bass is weak like all cell phones.
-The mp3 player controls aren't great. You can tell it to shuffle and you can tell it to repeat, thats it, you can set playlists but you would need to have a 4gb+ card in the phone to get much use from playlists. I use a 1gb card ($20) and rotate albums in and out every couple of days.
-Speaking of the card, it uses Sony's annoying special memory card. Which is hard to find and more expensive then standard MicroSD Scandisk models.
-The card slot is bad design, I couldn't get to it for the first few days because I kept thinking I would break it, opening it w/out nails is impossible.
-The battery/sim setup isn't easy access either. Though this is forgivable in such a slim profile.
Hope this helps.
LOVE
I got this phone yesterday and i love it so much!!I have the gray one and i just love it! But there is a few things that i dont like and many things that i do like..
PROS:
-bluetooth
-good quality
-good price
-small
-good sliding quality
CONS:
-I cannot find the predictive text on this phone and i really need it..
-my messaging sometimes messes up and i have to turn off my phone
-its really hard to put the back on it
and thats all! i really love this phone!
AND IF YOU KNOW HOW TO GET TO THE PREDICTIVE TEXT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!
