No 3.5 mm jack
What a dissapointment.......
I had the phone for 3 weeks, Yes (HAD). I ordered it before it even came out so i got it a day before it came out.
I was very disappointed!!
Okay so I had the iphone for about a month and the G1 for only 3 weeks so maybe I'm partial, but here I go anyway. I'll start with my pro's and con's then go into detail.
Pro's
qwerty keyboard
wifi
the ability to cut, copy, and paste.
the android market
thread messaging
nice gmail program ( duh lol )
you tube feature nice
Con's
qwerty keyboard needs keys like the htc pro
3G not working properly
Edge didn't work, so I only had the internet at home, with wifi
camera very crappy, why even have it.
internet pages never loaded all the way, always would freeze.
GPS never worked
Phone too bulky and why the curve in the mouth piece??
OKay now I do understand that 3G isn't fully operational in my city (taylor,MI) yet but the edge network should of still worked, which it barely ever did. Camera was a joke never used it, keys on the keyboard were to small, and everytime I went on the interent outside of my house the phone would freeze and restart. Overall the phone was very much a disappointment!
RETURNED IT
There were too many irritants about the G1 which prompted me to return it after 3 days. I will start with what I like
PROS:
love the touch screen
cool apps for free
multiple windows for the browser
CONS:
-cannot sync with outlook. I put imported my contacts from outlook into Gmail but it was not a smooth seamless transision
-no flash on camera and you can't use the camera without an SD card in the device
-battery life is HORRID.. by mid day I'm at 15%
they say to turn things off like 3G, GPS, etc.. but those are features that make the phone good.
-the design is horrible. Typing with the chin in my way gives me carpel tunnel in my right hand
-the thing is a brick
-where does stuff get saved? how do I find things I saved? Can I save my apps to the SD card?
-cannot caterogize contacts or sort them by catergories.
AWEFUL!
at first you think, wow what a cool phone. Untill you try to use it for a day. Yes the touch screen is cool but thats about it.
Cons: Battery life stinks, 3g stinks.... I get logged off of aim and yahoo to many times. Android market does not work. I cant even download anything. The keyboard is too flat. I have to hold the camera key forever to get it to take a pic. Ringtones and vibrate are so low you cant hear them in your pocket.
Pros: Maps, touch screen, internet if it works.
Im sending mine back at the end of the week and going back to my sidekick. If you are a texter/internet surfer and you want a phone that works. Get a sidekick.
I'm very pleased
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ONE TO HAVE THE NEW PHONES WHEN THEY COME OUT AND A LOT OF THE TIME YOU ARE DISAPPOINTED BUT THIS PHONE HAS REALLY COME THROUGH TO LIVE UP TO THE HYPE... I HAVE GONE THROUGH BLACKBERRYS AND IPHONES AND WINBLOWS MOBILE PHONES.
PROS:
KEYBOARD
RESPONSIVE TOUCHSCREEN
SMOOTH OS
OPEN SOURCE!!!
CONS:
ON BOARD MEMORY
BATTERY
HEADPHONE JACK(WHICH CAN BE FIXED WITH AN ADAPTER)
OVERALL IM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PHONE AND I AM VERY HAPPY I GAVE UP MY IPHONE FOR IT
ITS LIKE A MIX BETWEEN AND IPHONE(TOUCHFLOW), WING(SLIDE KEYBOARD), AND BB(TRACKBALL) ALL IN ONE
Android? More like a Hemorrhoid!
This phone is garbage. Plain and simple. The design sucks, it curves at the bottom so it doesn't even fit in your pants nicely. The hinge feels like it's gonna break in a couple days. The keys are worse then trying to type on the Samsung Juke U470!
Don't even get me started on the screen... I have to press everything multiple times, small buttons need about 10 tries until they work.
The camera sucks, and it doesn't even record videos! Battery life...wow, terrible. Get outta here! Internet, oh my, I'd rather surf the web on my PSP. (jkiluvtheg1)
Could Be Better!!!
Just got the G1 yesterday and there are certain features that this phone doesnt have that im so used to on my PDA phones having and there are a lot of features that this phone has that other phones dont.. But it is something i can definetely get used to and there are always apps and updates coming out for the phone and that is why im gonna stick with the G1!!!
Here are some pros and cons..
PROS:
~Touchflow
~Android OS
~Trackball
~Can download music straight from the phone
~Apps Market
~You Tube
~Sound quality on music and calls are great
~Paid only $100 with a 2yr contract
~Awesome Web Layout compared to other phones
~3g
~Can Zoom In and Out
~GPS
~More Memory
~Google Maps
~Contacts Are Stored In Gmail Google
~3 Homescreens
CONS:
~The pic quality on the camera blows for being a 3mp camera and it takes 4ever to take the pic
~Too big
~Seems like it was made cheaply
~Cant Other Emails on Phone Outside of Gmail
~Dont like the layout of the im compared to the wings layout
~No Video Recorder
~No Flash on Camera
~Poor Battery Life
All in all this is a pretty damn good phone.. So if your looking for a phone that has it all and does it all then go pick up the G1!!!
Phone Needs Work
I have owned this phone since October 30th. Once I opened the box and got the phone working I noticed several things that TMobile could have fixed on this phone. First off why is TMobile forcing people to have a gmail account for this phone. Not cool. Second the fact that you can not store anything on the phones memory is crap. I don't like the fact that you have to use just the memory card. Next poor camera and no settings to let you adjust the picture setting. No flash big turn off. No damn video record what the hell. Next having to add every song title to your ring tones not cool. I like the setup that Nokia used. Very well done. Next overall lack of 3g coverage in Salem, OR. The phone makes weird nosies and feels like cheap ass plastic. TMobile and Google need to take this piece of crap off the damn market. The phone sucks and not worth the money. Also the battery life sucks. My grandmas earing aid batteries last longer damn. The fact that this phone has been out since October and TMobile as no cases or anything for the phone what the hell is that. They needed to have the cases and memory cards out before the phone. Someone dropped the ball big time.
Somewhat dissapointing
With ability to use it as a metal detector, analog gps and scanner, and NO bluetooth. Come HTC and TMO! Even the MDA came with bluetooth, and with a 3.5 mm jack! For a device that is trying to compete with the iphone and blackberrys, this one is not up to par. I have to say that online browsing is cool and the music player could use more techincal stuff, overall i have it and it will do fine!
