Great phone
I've had this phone for several months and I love it. The external display is great, the camera's great, it has great features. I got it for $30 from cingular.com and I have never felt like returning it. I get great reception in the Boston area. The only problem that I've had with it is that a month after i got it i had it in my pocket and walked into the corner of a table and cracked the outer screen but it still works fine. I couldn't care less about the infrared or the phone not having bluetooth.
Pros:

Outer screen easy to break
Speed dial (pressing a number that you have a contact assigned to doesn't tell you the name until you actually dial the number)
Don't believe what people say about freezing issues and bad battery life. Yeah the ringtones suck but you can get better ones for not much $
LG, WHAT A WASTE
Stay away from LG, their crap. Phone keeps freezing up and screen doesn't come on when flip open. I did not get the phone by choice, Cingular gave it to me as a replacement phone. I use to have the Samgsung P107 and thought cingular would replace it with another Samgsung, insteadt they give me this $29.99 crap phone and charge me $50 for the replacement insurance fee. The damm fee cost more then the crap phone. Just doesn't make sense.
Store Discontinued the LG1400 !!
My 1st clue was when I returned to the Cingular store to ask about batteries and covers and was told that (as the Mgr) he decided to NO longer carry the phone due to all the complaints he's had with the phone. He personally had it and traded it in, a luxury I did not have.
The standby time lists approx 9 days? Try 1.5 days! I need to charge up my phone every day! I just spent 1 hour on the phone with a tech and he said that the features listed are "mis-leading" and that the LG1400 does not do all the things in the way you are mislead to believe. You can't initiate an IM...you can reply to an IM only but not initiate one.

19 months to go until I trade it in unless I "hint-hint" have to replace it with insurance upon it's unexpected disappearance!!!
Great reception, great deal, OK features
Overall this phone has been a great buy. I bought two from Wirefly.com for $49 each after rebates. Each phone came with a free accessory package (but the included earbud headsets are worthless). This phone is attractive, easy to use, and feels solid and well-made in your hand.
PRO: The reception on this phone is superb. I get four bars of reception from anywhere inside my home, and people I call usually can't tell I'm on a cell phone. Isn't that the most important thing with a cell phone? Large buttons with positive action. Menus are easy to navigate. Some people complain that this phone is large, but I think the larger size is easier to handle, and the shape fits my hand well. There's lots of room for contacts on this phone, including three phone number slots for each contact and a big window for address info. I also like the voice recorder options and notes function, so I'm basically using this phone as my PDA now. There's no speakerphone, but voice dialing with this phone works great.
CON: I wish this phone had programmable buttons so I could access notes or the voice recorder with one click. As it is, you have to navigate through a bunch of menus. Managing photos is somewhat difficult, but that isn't really important to me. The volume could be louder on this phone. But I've found the earpiece is very sensitive to position. If you get it just right, the volume is usually fine. But frankly, if you talk in noisy places a lot, you might want to consider another phone. The battery life isn't bad compared to other flip phones, but if you do tons of gabbing, you'll also be doing a lot of recharging.
Nice phone with Nice price
I owned this phone for a little over a month and here's what I thought:
PROS:
Outer display was nice and can be customized with pictures from gallery.
The inner display was sharp and bright.
The volume was good.
The phone was a nice size and not as heavy as it looked.
Menu was easy to navigate
CONS:
Ringer would start low and get loud? By the time I would hear it I would miss the call.
I would get an echo that got worse over time and finally had to send it back.
Lacked speaker phone and blue-tooth
OVERALL OPINION:
This phone was good but just not for me. I am a fan of Motorola's (never had problems that people on this site have...knock on wood)
Glad I Got It
I got it last night so far everything is great but i have never liked tha lg format. im gone miss my nokia but i think ill git over it.

Good mid range Phone
I got this phone about two months ago and have used just about every feature on it, so far the only complaints i have with the phone is the lack of bluetooth and speakerphone, and also the lack of data sync unless you have an IR port.
PROS:
RF: holds good signal, but can maintain a call with one bar if necessary
Display: bright and vivid color and response with both screens.
One Touch Buttons: the phone ALMOST has no need for a menu, the quick access is awesome
Keypad: good for large thumbs
Camera is definitely good enough, pictures look good on the computer.
CONS:
see above, also the menu layout is a bit tricky at first, some things like the alarm clock are not where you would expect them to be

ok i just got this phone 2 days ago and i LOVE IT! there are great features yet some that arent soo great:

stupid cingular logo gets in the way of pictures set as wallpaper

Looks Can Be Deceiving!
Oh my GOD! I have never been so dissatisfied in my life. The LG1400 is a total rip off.I just got this phone on yesterday and I really want my money back. This phone looked really nice for that 29.99! That is where Cingular really gets you.(ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE CHEAP)!

Jack in the box
This phone sucks i bought it because i like the camera and the camera sucks and it gets filled up too quickly. the cingular people won't return it, "I used more mins then i was suppose to if i wanted to return it" I hate this phone man dam i regret getting this phone.... and no flash and no external flash.
