Motorola V300

v300
I have owned the V300 for just over 2 months. I find that the speaker volume is not loud enough and have trouble hearing the phone if there is any background noise. Whoever put the buttons on the side, must never have used the phone. The ring volume is constantly changing while the phone is in my pocket. I have missed many calls as a result.
Good Phone
This is a good phone. The picture is good if there is enough light. I havent had any software problems unlike other reviews I've seen so I don't know what their talking about. The screen is great and the sound is good but when you are talking to someone it can be a little low. Cons: no flash on camera(but who cares)

Solid phone for Canadian Users
I work in the Cellular industry and I have to say that I am Very pleased with motorola's V300.
After reading any reviews and reading US specs on the phone however it is obvious that Canadian users got the long end of the stick on this phone. Although the unit might cost more in Canada (srp $549.99 cdn buyout)it is a solid investment as the canadian option works off of 850/900/1900mhz where as the US model includes 900/1800/1900 while only two of those frequencies can be used in the US all 3 canadian frequencies are available in Canada. I believe this to be the root cause of many negative reception reports I have read from us reviews. In addition to that the CDN model is a PC4 handset with a built in signal booster that ramps the 850mhz spectrum to a max of 2W.
Secondly I would like to comment on people who complain about picture quality on the phone. I personally own a v300 and I don't know why people complain about the picture quality. The Res is 640 x 480 pixels which for those of you who don't know is exactly as good as the best web cam out there. If you have ever owned a web cam u know the picture quality is not stellar. Given the size of web cams and the size of the phone, stop expecting 4MP cameras in cell phones, they are after all, CELL PHONES, not cameras.
I also have heard a lot of complaints about software issues. For the most part they have been resolved in Canada as the release was delayed to implement new software which, I have not yet had a problem with as far as customer service and defects, which are few and far between.
Finally the Speakerphone, Ring tones, MP3 capability and screan resolution put other phones to shame.
People also tend to mention that it doesnt have bluetooth or video but in my opinion thats fine because personally I have never seen a bluetooth headset I liked and secondly leaving these features out keeps the cost of the phone down for the consumer.
I definately reccomend this phone to anyone
Motorola V300
I just got this phone yesterday and I must say anyone who has had problems with the phone... it must've been user error or the earlier models weren't as good. The phone is not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but is also durable and fun to use...
PROS: Camera can be set to be brighter or darker, depending on what you want; Ringers are crystal clear; speaker phone works really well; Wonderful volume for ringtones and ear piece; vibrant colors on the screen and pictures and colors are really clear.
CONS: That good ole Motorola layout. I almost didn't get the phone because of this. I think it's weird that the send and end keys are opposite and that you have to go over the river and through the woods to change a ringtone or find the pictures you've taken, but bot, it's worth it. The only other con is that it doesn't have as good of standard ringtones as the Samsung E105 (which I had up until yesterday) has. But it does have tight as ringtones, and you can make your own! Illness is a tight ringtone that came standard though.
All in all, I am glad that I got this phone. All of the goods outweigh the bad and I can get used the the backwards send/end keys. If you are considering getting a camera phone, this is a good one. But go with what you think is good. Everyone's opinions are different. the Samsung E715 is a cool camera phone too. But I'm glad that I got this one.
Motorola has done it right this time!!!
Pros:Vibrant 65k color screen, soft touch clamshell, light weight, motorola interface,
sound quality, speakerphone
Cons:Missed calls are not logged; only received & dialed.
This wireless phone goes beyond all other previous versions of Motorolas. Granted the interface is pretty much the same as the T720i with a few enhancements. I have owned several phones in the last year(T720i, Samsung E715, Nokia 3650, Nokia 3595, Samsung S105 to name a few). For the sake of comparison the Samsung E715 is the only phone in this caliber.
I find the V300 to be more responsive, reflective and overall a better phone than the E715. The speakerphone was the reason I became interested in this unit. It works flawlessly-loud, clear & crisp. There have been complaints about the volume of this phone. Yes Motorola has had issues in the past but not here. I have been in meetings, outdoors, clubs with loud music and I have had no issues with hearing the other party & visa versa. The classic ringtones are loud but the polyphonic tones are a little low. The camera-even though it has no flash works as well as the E715 with a flash. The complaints about battery life are unfounded. Being a heavy wireless user(3000-4000 minutes per month) it will last all day. Some of you may need to charge it every evening-but do it while sleeping. The complaints about having to charge every couple of days are complaints from lazy people. If you use your phone heavily it will require charging more frequently. The menu may take some time if your used to another interface. It does hold multiple #s for contacts stored to the phone only-not the sim card. I use this in Portland, OR and have great signal strength and call clarity.
T-mobile is the carrier as we're all aware of.I recommend this phone based on features and quality not to mention the price is right.I have had this phone for 5 days and have talked 9 hrs and not a single dropped call. Unlike the T720i. Once you use this all others will be forgotten.
Nice little phone so far!
For the last year I've been using T-Mobile's PocketPC Phone. Before that, I was using a Handspring Treo 180. Prior to that, I had the Nokia 3390.
The pda-phones are great, but just too big to carry around in shorts pockets during the summer, so I opted to by something smaller, and went with the Motorola v300.
The unit arrived this morning, so I unboxed it, put the battery in, and hooked up the charging cord, then sat down to look through the manual.
I've had a chance to play with it a bit tonight, and so far it seems like a nice little phone. (LITTLE being the key word here, compared to those pda phones I've been using!).
I like the overall feel of the phone. It's small enough to stick in a pocket, but still has enough meat to it that you don't feel like you're holding a piece of paper up to year ear.
The screen is sharp. Having the outside display for the caller id is nice. The sound quality and reception seem good also. The MP3 ringtones are a nice touch.
One thing that bugs me -- I hope there is a way to change it that I havent found yet -- is when you use the up and down buttons on the outside of the phone while it's closed - to cycle between the time dispay and the current ringer profile, the "bloop!" noise it makes is VERY LOUD.
The only other problem I've had is sending a couple of pictures to email addresses, I've gotten a message "message failed". I'm sure that's more of a service issue though than a phone one.
V300
Only two CONS for this phone. 1. The keypad is WAY too small and 2. it only has a standard battery available (so far). The V600 keypad is much better.
First Motorola... LAST Motorola...
I got my V300 Feb 19th, and though I love my phone... I HATE the glitches.
PROS: Camera, sharp display, support for MP3 ringtones.
CONS: Constant self-resets (oddly one EVERYDAY @7:48pm), no IR port, it's a real pain to send pics to anybody else, it has no deviced based e-mail support, you've can't just apply one pic to a person's name and have it cover all their numbers (you've got to apply it to every one of their numbers) (same thing with applying a ringtone to a person, you've got to apply it to EVERY number), and the battery sucks (2-5 hours to recharge versus 1 hour with my Nokias) (3hrs talk time versus 6hrs).
Other than that, I love the phone.
This phone is Crumbling...
Once again, Motorola has made a promising product, but it has fallen very low of expectations. Hang this phone up next to the Motorola C330 series. I have been doing Warranty Exchanges for this phone left and right. People have been complaining about the phone not hanging up on calls. They will close the flip, but then the call will continue. The battery has to be removed before it will work. How hard is it to make a durable phone like a Nokia phone? Why do they have to waste our time and money on making a product that can't even perform? With the last couple of phones, EVERYONE should stay away from Motorola. They have proved that they can't make any good phones.
