as good as a v60 and better!!!!!
this phone has to be one of the best motorolas i have owned i have drommed it more than 500 times and it still works like new it is very easy to use and has great service and more i could talk about how good this phone is for hours the only bad things are that after a while the battery starts to not last as long and the screen is small
highly recomended!!!!!
Only get it if it's free
It's a nice little phone and plays awesome MP3 ringtones. I must admit I felt pretty pimp carryin this lil baby around. But then the vibrate feature quit working, and the screen on the outside of the phone quit working. It drops calls like nobody's business. And then just tonight (1/6) the main screen just died on me. I've had this phone a lil over a year. Conviently I'm still stuck in a contract and can't get a new phone as of yet.....hmmmmmm. How nice?
Just don't waste money on this phone. If it come free with a contract go for it that's about what it's worth. When I got it I paid 50 bucks for it and got a mail in rebate for that amount back. It's a good phone at first. But just wait.............
Great Phone
I live in southern MS and use Cingular service and I've never had a problem with this phone. It's decent looking, has good reception, and a good speakerphone. What more can you ask for when its free?
Yes crappy phone
Believe me. This phone is a peice of junk. I work in a cell phone store and we have seen more returns and warranty exchanges on this model as well as the V220 than any other phone manufacturer.
Pros:
-Quad band international phone
-Speakerphone
-MP3 ringtones
Cons:
- Issues with screen going black
- Issues with earpiece volume diminishing
- Reception issues and problems with antenna coming out
- Both the inside and outside LCD screens crack easily with very little pressure
- Even on level 7 volume it's not very loud
- I've also seen issues where the spring that keeps the phone flipped closed becomes broken or loose or something and the phone is stuck slightly open and always on in which drains the battery.
- Charging and battery power issues
I've seen many people who have had to exchange their phones like 3 or 4 times and they all seem to have the same defects. If you're going for a phone with similar features look into the Nokia 3120 or the LG C1500. Both are great phones and extremely easy to use.
should i buy this phone
I been reading the forums for the v180 phone. I dont know if i should buy the phone or not. They have negetive and positive forums about it. I do like the phones features but you never know how the phone will turn out.Somebody help me!!!!
Oakmeal cans and string
I switched from Sprint to Cingular and got two Motorola v180 phones. My wife's never did work and Cingular replaced it. My phone will not receive or send while in the house. I made a trip through Colorado and Wyoming and never got to talk on my phone. I could hear who I was calling but they couldn't hear me. Periodically the phone turns itself off and you have to remove the battery to turn it on again. Thank goodness for Sim Chips because if I didn't have them to put into some old AT&T phones I would be sitting for a couple of years and making do with a couple of oatmeal boxes and string. I have to say the V180 gave new meaning to the term, "Can you hear me?" Don't buy a Motorola V180 under any circumstances and if anyone knows how to get some relief for this sorry phone of mine let me know. My wife's works but she may not use it but twice a week.
a really bad phone
i work for a wireless carrier and thankfully they are no longer selling this phone . i work in a call center and get constant calls about this phone for warranty exchange. freezes up, drops calls. please, if you have one, don't even do a warranty exchange just buy another model. this has ruined motorolas reputation in my book.
bad choice :-(
ok well, my left soft key fell off. yeah i can pop it back in place, but it is very loose and falls out occasionally. also today was the first day i experienced this, but when i opened my phone, the screen was black. so i was like, maybe i could still make a call, so i dialed the number and the call went through, although i could not see the screen. also throughout the day, i would open my phone up to see what was up with the screen and it would do really really weird, but cool looking, things. for example, i opened my phone once and there was a black screen with a single horizontal line across it, then i watched it a little longer, then a billion colorful lines filled the screen vertically and horizontally. and so i watched it a little while and then the screen started to turn black again, as if from a distinct point on the screen. then one time i opened the phone and the screen was there, but it was all twisted and discombobulated. then it went black again.
this has actually been a really good phone for me up till this point. yeah so what it comes with dumb wallpapers, thats why you can download some. it has awesome sound quality with mp3 ringtones too.
yes this phone does drop calls after about 7 minutes, only if you are talking to a new number, after you have talked to said number, it will only drop your calls after 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 30 seconds.
Not a happy custumer
I have only had the V180 model for about 6 months and I lost the screen and I couldn't hear anyone one it so i sent it in got another one and same thing and now I keep loosing reception and can't keep a signal for more than a couple of minutes. I DO NOT RECOMEND THE MOTOROLA V180 FOR ANYONE!!!!
