I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!!!!

Apr 28, 2007 by ling_ling09

I just got this phone yesterday through the verizon store on-line.
I suggest for ANYONE who is planning on buying a phone through verizon to buy it off the internet at www.verizonwireless.com it is much cheaper because you get and on-line discount!
Now back to the phone. I can honestly say I love this phone. I read reviews on here and some were good & some were bad so i was a little uneasy about this phone but believe me I am so glad i bought this phone!!
My mom and my sister both bought the LG EnV about a month ago and I have to say I was planning on buying that phone. But then I realized that $200 was way too much for me considering i dont have a lot of money.
So i began looking on-line for other phones that i may like. & I found this 1 and i will admit after going into the store a few times and messing with this phone & the EnV I did like the EnV better. I thought that the keys on this phone were much smaller and since I have mammoth thumbs I thought that it wouldnt b good for me. Well then I figured I can get used to it since I am probably the biggest texting freak there ever is/was. So I ordered this phone.
After having it a day I love it and it has never left my side. Yeah the buttons on it are small but I already am used to it. On my old phone I was able to text & everything w/o ever looking at my phone & I was scared to get this one because when I am @ school I text constantly. Yeah we aren't suppose to but thats how I became good @ texting w/o looking. I can ALMOST text on my new phone without looking...surprising huh? well its just a matter of learning where the keys are.
I really love this black color also its much more sleek and cute looking so I suggest the Black over the gold anyday!
I really love all the features of this phone & I can now say that I love this phone better than the EnV!! This phone has more/better features then the EnV does. So I suggest this phone to anyone!!

E-mail me if you have any questions!

i just got this phone about a month ago and have had no problems at all. the phones design is very sleek and smooth feelin. only cons are the camera zoom could be better but still a clear pic. also some options are only available in landscape mode. i thought the hinge was gonna b a problem or get flimsy over time but it feels very sturdy still. the speakers on the phone do not have any base but r still loud and very clear. it has all the options of the env an more. the phone itself without a memory card can hold up to about 1 hour of video. the phone is about the same thickness of the razer but has many more options. this phone is perfect for texting in landscape mode. the buttons may be a little small but u get used to them very fast.speaker phone option available when closed and you can answer by pressing it while phone is closed. trust me this phone is a great buy with many options and at a good price.

LOVE this phone

Upgraded (and I do mean UPGRADED) from Cingular number one. And from a Razr, number two, to this amazing phone, and on a network which hasn't dropped my calls once (even when I drive into a parking structure.. Cingular, er, the new AT&T, take note of what Verizon has done). I love this phone.

I've had more than one Razr and still use one as a work phone over Cingular, but have no control over that.

I Text and email quite a bit and phones like the Treo I had, were too bulky..as are many of the other phones out today which have a keyboard vs the cumbersome way of testing with only number keys.

AND what totally blows me away about this phone, is the "voice to text" ability of speaking your text message and having the phone translate it to text!

Yes, the keys are a bit small, but who hasn't fat fingered on a phone before. It's easy to get use to.

I liked Samsung year ago, but then other companies stepped up. Samsung has responded to the marketplace with this little gem. And speaking of gem, the goldtone is a nice alternative to silver/black etc..

Great Phone!! Great Price

I am upgrading form the A950. I have had this phone for about to weeks now and would not trade it for nothing. I love the dual-hinge design and the slimness of the phone. The keys are small but after you are used to them its not a problem. This phone has a lot of applications including calculator for tips and also a converter, calender, notepad, and of course the alarm clock. It also has a text-to-speech function, but it best works in a quiet enviroment. You can also edit your pictures you take on the phone.

Pros:
-Qwerty keyboard
-Size
-Menu Search
-Picture Editor
-Viewing text on external display
-Plays MP3 and WMA files

Cons:
-Resolution could be better
-External screen is small and resolution could be better in comparison to A950
Proprietary Headphone jack
-When taking pictures and using the external screen viewing is cropped

I would recommend this phone to anyone. It has it faults but the pros outweigh them.

Awesome Phone even with the quirks

So I just got my Samsung U740 and I'm loving it. It sounds great it generally works well. The landscape keyboard and keys are a little difficult to use but you get used to it. It does have a T9word-esqe text input method to use in clamshell mode which is nice for quick fast texting but if you want to write long emails I'd say take your time and use the landscape mode.

Be aware that there are some apps that only work in landscape mode but you'll figure that out quickly.

The phone's look is very regal and good looking. The functionality is great.

With the Jabra v250 it is a little scratch unless it picks up the bluetooth just right but not that big of an issue.

That's my take.

Not so bad

I enjoy this phone- but I've only had it a week. As of now the problems I forsee: BATTERY LIFE... With previous phones I could go days without charging. I have found myself charging the 740 daily.

The hinge: I am good with phones, but someone who is rough with them, this may not be the best choice.

Camera Quality: It's okay. Not the best, but it's a camera phone not a digital camera. I don't expect much different.

Service: Samsung changed the position of the internal antenna. I don't know if this was necessarily a good choice on their part. The 740 does not seem to have the same reception as my other phone.

With all these cons, why a 4.5? This is one of the better Verizon phones I have seen in a long time. With decisions between Motorola (gross), LG, or Samsung,
I was debating between the 740 and the LG 8600. Once I saw the 740, it won the "match" hands down. It is one of the few phones I actually liked and thought it was a better quality.

Good but could be better

There are some great things about this phone.. but I sometimes shake my heads at some of the glaring mistakes they made

PROS
- Good sound quality
- qwerty keyboard
- Neat and useful portrait/landscape mode
- Good form factor
- Bright screen
- New interface themes keep it fresh
- Impress the friends with the quick one-two phone flip from normal to qwerty keyboard

CONS
- The need for a separate adapter to:
1. plug in the charger (this is ridiculous)
2. plug in a headset
3. plug in headphones
- The port to plug in the adapter has a door that requires fingernails that I don't have
- You can't make customized text message sounds per contact (my old cheap LG phone with the same interface can do this)
- Screen resolution (pretty sub-par for a snazzy phone like this)
- Screen size (there is some serious real estate that they could have used for the screen rather than their oversized SAMSUNG and VERIZON WIRELESS logos)
- People on other end complain of echo when I'm in speakerphone mode
- bluetooth is mono only

Graet Phone

I bought this phone last week, and I am very pleased with it.

PROS:
Good reception
Easy to use keyboard
Thin and doesn't bulge in your pocket
Easy to figure out how to use

CONS:
When you recieve a text, it vibrates 3 times not once.
When in landscape mode and answer a call, its very loud and unclear
Pictures come out unclear

Overall I am pleased with this phone that I will have until my 2 year contract expires!

Solid Phone When Using Extended Battery

Apr 5, 2007 by sfclassic

I recieved this phone about a month ago. I was using a Moto Fire Krzr.

This phone is the same size as the razr but does a whole lot more. I use all of the features on the phone except the email client. the keypad is small, but you get used to it after a couple of days. I also have a t mobile sidekick which happens to have the best qwerty keyboard ever. switching back and forth is quite annoying.

pros.

size, having a qwerty keypad, music functions, video and bluetooth.

so so- camera

cons- battery. the battery is simply not enough for me when using the phone during the week. i listen to music for 2 hours a day, text throughout the day and use the phone for around an hour, sometimes more. without bluetooth use the phone dies around 8 oclock, with it earlier. but this is after constant use. if i just use it for normal texting (50 messages) it would be fine. i do around 300 per day.

the extended batttery solves all problems. you can only oreder it online at samsungs website as far as i know. all the verizon stores and kiosks do not carry it.
