Minor flaws. Beautiful phone.
I've owned this phone for almost three weeks now. I switched from Verizon to Sprint because the customer service at Verizon is poor. Their customer service reps are not helpful and are rude. However Sprint's reception is not as good as Verizon.
PROS:
~The phone is beautiful. Very stylish design and fits into pockets great.
~Phone book, up to 5 numbers and email add per name. You also don't have to go into a contact name to view additional number.
~Media player and sprint music store.
~Sound quality of stereo speaker
~Menus are very user friendly. You can also customize them to your needs.
~Internet and on demand connects quickly with high speed.
~Screen is big and very high quality.
~Text messages are a breeze with VoiceMode. It types messages for you and is fairly accurate. T9 works well too.
~Ringer volume is amazing! Many choices
~Speakerphone is nice
~Bluetooth headset connects easily and has quality sound on both ends.
~Voice command makes for easy navigation and works through headset perfectly.
~1.3 mp camera. Finally a phone with no annoying shutter sound.
~Missed alerts menu works fantastically and is convenient.
Cons:
~Batterty life. However if you use a bluetooth headset you can charge the phone and still talk without the hassle.
~Charging port cover makes the phone look nice but is flimsy.
~Cannot add words to the phones T9 function.
~Camera doesn't work very well in dim lighting.
Overall the phone is defiantly the best looking phone on the market. Unlike the Razer it is very user friendly. Navigation and texting is made simple. There are a few flaws but as long as you have a car and and home charger it won't be a problem. The best phone I've owned (V551, S710a, Treo650, A670). WORTH YOUR MONEY!
Battery life makes this phone a looser
Sorry Samsung/Sprint, nifty-looking phone, but I can't use it for much more than a few hours before it has to be charged. What's the point in making all of the multi-media crap available if you can't enjoy it? Oh, and their Bluetooth Handsfree/Headset implementation must be flawed on this phone as well. I've personally tried 3 different v1.2 headsets and have had nothing but static and connection problems. Even had a rep at CompUsa try his personal headeset with the same results. I was so hyped to get this phone and now that I own one, its a major dissapointment. It gets returned today.
No PIM transfer + poor battery life
If this were just a voice-only phone, I'd rate it a 5.0. Great form factor, display and reception. What I continue to be baffled by is the fact that Samsung makes these phones with built-in, full featured PIM apps (contacts, calandar, memos, etc), THEN they provide a USB data cable, YET there is no way to transfer/sync data with a PC. Bluetooth transfer only does one contact at a time and fails to transfer all fields.
With PowerVision and Bluetooth running my battery lasts about 6-hours. I've also noticed the battery indicator actually shows an INCREASE in battery life sometimes when, in fact (of course) it's draining.
The tiny size is incredible and, in the end, may be enough for me to live with the issues beyond Sprint's 14-day return period.
great package, but not for the power user
you cant beat the form of this phone and the function is pretty darn good as well. biggest complaint is the battery life. ill admit ive been playing with the data features a lot, but with almost no talking or txting the phone has failed to get me thru the day in the six days ive owned it so keep a charger or extra battery handy. other than that i love it, i just wish i could add words to the t9 dictionary and could set different outside and inside wallpapers from my content. speakers do distort at high levels, a problem the 920 and 950 have but not my vx8100, and the lack of a memory card is a downer. overall im pleased with the phone though!
Pretty Darn Good
I have had this phone for 2 days now and it has met all of my expectations.
PRO'S
form is solid in the hand
ringers
data transfer easy and fast
reception is excellent
customizable UI
camera is crisp
screens are crisp and easy to read
CON'S
battery life is poor
charging cover is an accident waiting to happen
Overall a very solid phone. It will be interesting to see if an extended battery is out soon since this is the #1 complaint from everyone
Bests Cell Phone I Ever Had....
Yeah just as the title says this is without the doubt the best cell phone I ever had.. until sometime next year.. Thats because I go through phones like crazy.. In my lifetime I been through 12 different model cellphones and 4 different cell carriers and now I finally found a combination that works for me..
The Samsung A900 is a smashingly reliable phone with great reception just as good as my PM-325 (crappy phone but great reception) I haven't yet had a dropped call. Powervison on it works great and seemingly fast.. mp3 player sounds great. I dont have a problem with that at all.. The phone screen is large and very clear thats my favorite thing about this phone cant beat QVGA.. button response is very good on this phone just as good as any other phone I had.. Camera works great and last but not least ringers sound wonderful thanks to stereo speakers.
in my opinion there are no cons to the phone because I dont have any issues with it.. I like it.. the only problem I have with it right now is that my picture mail wont work and thats sprints fault not the phone's
Great Phone Battery Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Purchased this phone on a Thursday and returned it to sprint by Monday. The battery life of this phone is horrible. The phone has great features in which I would have love to have kept it. But after the battery drained even with little talk time, and also with no extended battery available I would not ever compare this phone to a razor which has twice as much talk time.
I do not recommend this phone when there is no accessories (car charger, ext battery, etc). Bluetooth was static and wasn't that clear.
Buy at your own risk!!!!!!
samsung A 900
After a long wait, I purchased the a 900 last week. The phone is handsome and appealing with many technologically advanced features.Unfortunately Samsung decided to power the phone with a dramatically insufficient battery. All of the technological benefits are therefore illusory
Plainly put they can't be put to serious use. Without power the rest does not matter
.
3.5 not 4 or 5
I had the A900 for 2 weeks it's a good phone which lacks the needed essentials too be great.
Short comings:
1) Battery life
2) No memory card slot
3) Questionable reception
4) Speaker clarity fair
5) Above average software issues
6) Not consistant some are okay some have mega problems
Has the making for a very good phone but lags behind A920 which I like a lot better.
A900 will be discontined in the very near future. A newer upgraded version is in the making...
