V557 Review

Mar 15, 2006 by cjg

I've had this phone for a couple of weeks now, and it's a great phone! It has all the features you'd want (like bluetooth, camera, video, EDGE), but even if you just make and receive calls, it does that well too.

PROS:

--Great reception
--Excellent call/voice quality
--EDGE data speed
--Side volume keys for calls and ringtones
--Bright display
--Good size keys

CONS:

--Included rings are lame, I had to download a normal ring (the Continental is too high-pitched and will strip the paint off the walls). But this only a minor problem, normal rings are easy to download for free.
--No other cons that I can think of!

Motorola cant touch nokia

Mar 3, 2006 by capathy21

I am writing to tell everyone who may be thinking about buying a Motorola V551 to please reconsider. First of all I bought this phone after my girlfriend, her mom and her sister all got this phone about a year ago. I switched from Sprint to Cingular and bought a 551 around the time they did. Some of the negative vibes that the phone left with me was due to Cingular's pathetic service. But I used other phones with Cingular and never had such bad luck as I did with the 551. I make on average about 10 calls a day, and with the 551 i dropped about 7 of them a day. Half of the time when trying to make a call it would give me a "call failed" message. The phone is about as disfunctional as a phone comes. When I would open it it would turn off, and as far as charging it, forget it. The phones flimsy charger input means that you half to move it slowly till it recognizes the charge, and when you finally get it charging the phone shuts off and you cant use the phone for the four hours it takes to charge. Motorola shouldnt have bothered putting a video camera on the phone because it is horrible. Images and sound of the video have immense delays. Bottom line, I swiched services to Alltel, and bought the Nokia 6255i which is an amazing phone.

Omfgzzz, It's Wonderful.

This is prolly one of the best phones that I have ever delt with. I think that Motorola is an amazing company. Okay, here's my story. I live in a hick town, and when I say HICK I mean it. Well, anyway, I recently purchased the Motorola V557(I am a former owner of the V551 and I wanted to upgrade).. So, a couple day's later I receive my phone, it looks nice, and feels nice. I great GREAT reception, and I live in a extremely small town. We prolly only have about 3 cell phone towers, if that. I would surely recommend this phone to anyone, the camera is great(for VGA, I love it.), the ticker is awesome, key pad is nice, reception is wonderful, external screen is cool, volume level is wonderful(if you know how to change it, if you don't email me.), ringtones sound great. And Motorola prolly has the best Bluetooth, ever. PS: If you don't have internet for your phone, or you don't wanna pay for ringtones all you have to do is goto Walmart(low prices) and buy a Bluetooth adapter for your computer(a USB adapter) a program your phone to connect to it; then use a program such as LimeWire (I use Pro) to download Motorola Mobile Phone Tools to make ringtones, you can use other programs, but this is a pretty nice one. If you don't wanna use MPT I would recommend using Create Ringtone by Mobilatory, they cost about the same, but if you're a newbee to computers Create Ringtone is easier. Well, thanks for reading this, later.

Pros:
Nice Phone.
Good Reception.
Bluetooth.
Camera.
Video Camera.
Zoom(Camera).
Ticker.
Motorola.
LCD External.
Bright, vibrant screen.
Great Ringtones.
MP3(Ringtones).
MEdia Net.
Nice Keypad.
Great Volume.
GREAT PRICE!!($250)

Cons:
Cingular.
Kinda Bulky(But I Love The Phone).
Um, I can't really think of any other cons.

Thanks For Reading, Kyle.

Good reliable Phone

I finally gave up on the Razr since it doesn't work correctly on media Net. It also didn't have great signal strength. As they say looks aren't everything. This phone is very dependable and is classy looking to boot. the bluetooth automatically connects when turned on, calls are clear and don't fade, and has a bright display.

Pros

Nice looking
Easy to navigate through menu
Good signal strength
feels good in your hands

Cons

No I tunes or FM radio

you won't be disappointed in this phone

V330

I love my phone I've had it about 8 month so far on T-Mobile. I bought it outright when my 180 was stolen. When I bought it I was in a hurry and pretty much picked up the only one that wasn't ugly that had a camera. I'm very pleased w/ my choice.

The only thing that really bugs me about the phone is that the only way I can access to animations is sending them to someone in a TXT. However, no one can receive them.

For the most part my reception is fabulous and the sound quality is very nice. Sometimes I find myself trying to turn the ear piece volume up when it's already on the highest (7) setting.

The blue gripper junk on the the phone started wearing of the battery cover but still fully in tact on the face.

nice features, but can you use it as a phone?

Background: Motorola V551 used in Minneapolis area.

Pros: Lots of features, looks good, speaker phone is decent.

Cons: The reception and sound quality are so poor and dropped calls are so common that I avoid using it. I actually use it more like a pager. I receive a call and then tell the person I'll call them back when I have access to a land line phone so we can actually have a conversation without having to call each other up over and over and repeat ourselves.

V551 VS V557

For anyone who was needing to know the difference.. I've had both of these phones, first the V551 because the specs were the same as the V557 and it was $100 cheaper (free from Cingular depending on where you go). Yes, it has nearly all of the features of the V557 for Cingular except the news ticker. However, that isn't the only difference, nor is it the big one.

The huge difference between the two is signal strength. The V557 runs circles around the older V551 in fringe areas. I went places with them where the V557 would have full signal and the 551 would be only pulling a bar or two and would be dropping calls. In areas where signal was weak even on the 557, there was absolutely nothing on the 551 - rendering it useless in some areas that I needed it to work.

In town - the 551 is sufficient, for someone needing reception in rural areas, save up the extra cash and get the 557 - it's well worth it.

Otherwise, honestly - they are amazing. Bluetooth is great (slightly better on the 557), camera is decent if you really need a camera-phone, Java is nice - I ran Google Local (Google's map service for mobile, get it if you travel and have no GPS) on both phones and it worked very nicely.

Too bad the 557 didn't keep the casing of the 551, I prefer rubberized blue w/brushed aluminum over the look of the 557.

Have this phone for a year now

Great phone, had it for over a year now and still works like new. Motorola is a great choice of phone for anyone who wants quality and value for a great price.

T-Mobile V330. (pre-paid)

Feb 1, 2006 by phonexaddict

So i have had this phone for about a month now so i feel its time to rite a review! Ok so first off i want to say that ive had 6 diffrent models of phones. Yeah i know its a bit much. Oh well. So i think this phone is overall prety good, but like everything it has its cons. But i would like to say i had to send my phone in to get replaced and that took 3 weeks (and i had to waite 4 extra days for the battery cover!). i had to send it in because the earpiece was dead and i couldent hear anyone talking. So now that we got that outa the way lets get down to business :-P So here are SOME pros and cons

Pros:
-good camera for being VGA
-normal sized phone. Not to big not too small
-screen is AMAZING! very birgit
-can costomize(only 3 skins to chose from)
-the faceplate is ruberized and feels great in your hand(s)
-menues are really easy to navagate
-Keypad lights up white(almost a faint purple)
-sound quality is really good
-fun ringtones(including normal ones)
-Can change Homescreens and all that jazz
-really good signal
-txting is easy!
-loud ringer, also vibrates stong
-outside screen in monoctome and can read when its BRIGHT outside
-AIM works GREAT!

CONS:
-The camera has NO lense cover and it gets very dirty and hard to clean
-outside screen lights up a dark blue. Not evey attractive
-the nav key is SMALL
-Dont even get me started on motos phonebook
-when you walk & talk u can hear your face moving across the mouthpiece through the earpiece and it sounds lyk static.
-the keys rub up agints the screen when its close cauing cratches (only on the mirroed part)
-menus can be slow at times but not as bad as the nokia 6101
-buttons seem kinda cheap.
-outside screen is monocrome :-(
-not a decated "CLR" key lyk LG does
-batter life is 3 days at the most.

There are many many more pros and cons but thoes are the most serious. i am VERY picky about my phones but this will do till i get a better one. Its a good starter camera phone.
