Why are they in the US market?
Sony Ericsson need I say more. The day it came into my store I turned it on and it froze twice. Thats quality for you. Then again thats the quality we have grown to accept from sony ericsson. however the w600 is an exceptional phone so maybe they are gettin their act together who knows
I did 3 Months of research before buying
This is the phone to get. I borrowed all of my friends phones, compared, contrasted... very in depth seeing as though I am an anal retentive person.
Long story short, you should honestly buy this phone now. I agree with the small issues, like the camera button being pressed in the pocket, no edge... but honestly, the pros blow the cons away.
Software usability is a big thing for me, and this software is easily navagatable and fast!
The only issue I have had after two weeks, is when I view my email on- wait just figured it out. there are no problems with this phone.
I love it!
Just got the phone and I am already in love! It is perfect for what I am using it for. The sound quality is great and the reception is much better than my old LG phone. Still trying to get use to the unusual antenna, but other than that I feel that it is a great phone.

Horrible quality phone
This phone is great when it comes to features - Bluetooth, camera, reception, sound quality, and syncing capability.
This phone is horrible in terms of quality.
I've had 2 of these phones - both have overly sensitive camera buttons on the side, and worse, after 24 hours, become catatonic. MP3 ringtones stop playing. Animation stops. Icons become corrupted. You have to reboot your phone every hour.
Check out the SE forums at Cingular before you buy this phone - there seems to be a trend developing.
I hope this phone gets better - it has a great feature set, but if it doesn't reliably tell you you've got a call, well, there's a problem.

I ordered this phone from Cingular for $0 ($50 minus $50 MIR), but after trying to use it for a few days I will be returning it. Initial feedback about the z520a at this site was very good, but lately I have been getting more of a true indication of what this phone lacks:
reception.
Everything else is fine; it simply does not get good reception. I will be sitting in one spot with 4-5 bars, then have the call dropped with 1 or no bars seconds later. Using this phone in the car, it was even worse, with reception fading in and out, dropping and scratchy, garbled audio most times when it did work properly.
I was trying to replace a Nokia 6200, bc there were some spots that the 6200's reception would fade out. After doing some online research I have concluded that there is flat out no signal if my 6200 can't pick it up. I now understand why Nokia's are consistenly ated as great phones.
The z520a has to go...if the phone does not get even decent reception, what good is it?

I have had this phone for about three months.
It is one of the best phones i have ever had.
the screen quality is great on the inside and out. It has style and i like that you can customize almost the whole phone. I get great reception almost any where. It's small and easy to hold in your hand. I like the little antenna at the top. The keys could be a little farther apart but that hasn't bothered me too much. The picture quality is wonderful and i have taken 5 min. videos! i also like that you can record things and sounds and make them your ring tone.

Need good eyesight to use
We first purchased 4 LG2000 but the kids thought they were a bit boring so we went back to the Cingular store and the kids picked out the SE Z520 because it looked cool. We also investigated and found it had good memory for pictures and video. So I got one too but my husband kept his LG.
Well, I'm going back today to get my LG2000 back. The graphics on the SEZ520 are so small I can't read them. The pictures are so-so and small compared to the LG. The LG pics seem clearer on husbands. I use my phone as my watch and need to see the time at a glance. And what good is lots of storage for pictures if the pictures aren't that great?
Also, just try to find a good working case for this model. The antenna looks cool, but hinders it's storage in generic cases. (Side note, the Cingular salesman said the spoiler was non functioning and just for looks, but from what I've read, it is the loop antenna in it, DOH!)

In conclusion, different things matter to different users and while my issues may seem small, there is no reason SE couldn't have addressed things like small graphics, backlight and opening issues on an otherwise quality phone. Just seems stupid.

very good phone at 99.99 with 30 mail in rebate at cingular. At this price it has everything, including bluetooth. camera (vga) but if you want megapixel camera spend the money and get the new w600i 299.99 with 100 mail in rebate with 2 year plan.
The Z520 has very very good reception.

Great Phone
This phone is the best phone I have had so far. Reception is great, camera is ok for vga. I have no problems with this phone.The speaker works great ring is loud, and everything else is great. I would recommend this phone to any Cingular customer. I am in the south eastern part of U.S. so reception with this phone is great here..
