Best Phone I've Used In A LONG Time!
Before I began, I'd like to start by emphasizing my use of the word "phone". The primary purpose of a cellular device is to be that of a cellular device. Also, coming from AT&T and the iPhone, I'd like to add, that any comparison I make to the iPhone is not biased as a fanboy of Apple but as a consumer who has in fact owned and used the device. That being said, here's my review:
I ported over from AT&T and the iPhone about a month ago and I have to say that the Voyager certainly exceeded my expectations of Verizon Wireless and the Voyager itself.
PROS:
Excellent battery life. The Voyager lasted 2 days on a single charged, the iPhone had to be charged multiple times daily.
Touch screen is nice and the internal QWERTY is intuitive. Although the touch screen doesn't hold a candle to the iPhone's, I believe that it takes some getting used but is not bad to use.
Excellent call quality. No dropped, missed or distorted calls. Call quality on the closed phone as well as the speaker phone are both excellent.
The menu is responsive and sees little to no lag. Although the iPhone's GUI is much or fluid and nicer to look at, the Voyager is no slouch either. I have not have to do a reset once. On the iPhone, I had to restart at least once a day.
Back-Up Manager is great. I love how I can set the Voyager to back up my contacts every night. I have to communicate with a lot of people regularly and it helps that I don't have to worry about losing contacts if I lose my Voyager. AT&T doesn't offer this feature.
Good camera for a 2MP. It's no digital substitute but great for on the go photos. To be actually choose settings rather than simply point and shoot is a plus. Video capture is nice as well.

In closing, I have to say that I thought I would miss the iPhone. But a pretty phone (lacking some basic features) is no substitute for bad service. Verizon and the Voyager for my are both winners.
Great toy-Excellent Phone Good Camera
First, make sure when you purchase this phone that is has been upgraded with the latest software. As of this writing that is version 7. This upgrade improves battery life, the touch screen functionality and other important things.
Pros: 1)Great look and feel
2)Very good call quality (ringer volume a little low)
3)Typical Veriszon menus. I'm used to them and find them very easy to use. With version 7 the short cut menus can be customized.
4) the touch screen feature is very responsive and with just a little practice very easy to use(except for the browser).
5) the keyboard makes for easy texting and typing.
6) very good camera. It has plenty of sdjustments to allow for fine pics.
Cons: 1) the browser. Although it is a full html bowser, I found it very slow with very marginal touch screen sensitivity. Maybe I haven't practiced enough with the touch screen function on the browser.
2) The "key lock" function is annoying. I wish they had a time delay on it like they do on the Envoy.
3) they also dropped the lense cover
for the camera and the camera has no flash. Why Verizon dropped these very usful functions baffles me.
Overall this is a great phone with super screens, excellent touch screen functionality. Texting so easy I now do it, and the vznavightor is a very usefull GPS system.
I haven't found much use for the TV function. The picture quality is truely great but so far I find it kind of a waste of time. I will drop it after my 30 day free trial.
It 's also a good music phone. I have downloaded about 100 tunes so far using the Vcast music manager with no problems. I have not yet purchased any tunes from Verizon yet.
This is not an i phone killer, not even close but is is a fun unit with a lot a capability. Is it worth the rather hefty price? I'm going to keep it, but........
A Great start But?????
I waited to buy this phone, I thought it would do all of the multimedia stuff just fine and would lag in the web type stuff (it's not a PDA) However, that being said these are my pros and cons
pros:
1.looks nice, a little plastic looking though
2.learning curve? there isn't one , it's easy
to use and a joy to play with
the way you can put a 2 sec pause on dialing numbers( such as bank accounts) makes it so easy to get your balance without rear ending the poor guy in front of you
Now the cons:
the ringers are too quiet!
scrolling with the touchscreen can be a pain
(always seem to open up the wrong persons number)THERE IS NO SETTING FOR THE TOUCH SCREENS ADJUSTMENT!you just have to get used to it and you will still make a few errors in scrolling.
3:This was to made as a MUSIC PLAYER, so why is the volume way too low? In a quiet room it's fine but outside in the city I'll take my IPOD thank you!
and another biggie: Just try to erase your ringtones, no not the factory ones ones you either bought or made yourself. I called verizon on this problem and was told i had to do a hard reset of the whole phone, What, are you nuts? So the Multimedia giant does have a few querks, which I hope that down the road will be fixed by software updates. I've had mine updated to ver:5 but still it hasn't fixed any of these problems.
4: Oh yeah,Put a speaker shone toggle on the side of the phone please.this phone is a beefed up chocolate with a touch screen

Returned the Voyager
I have been using a Motorola E815 for two years because I did not want a phone with the Verizon UI. The 815 has exceptional call quality and has been an excellent phone, but it's 2008 and time to move on. So, I did all the research I could do before purchasing the Voyager. I read articles, tests, spoke with Verizon customer service, and tried the phone several times in the store before moving forward.
I activated the phone and immediately noticed that the call quality was not as good as the 815. There was a noticeable hiss in the background that was annoying. The lock feature, while necessary sometimes, is an incredible inconvenience. Your touch on the screen has to be very accurate or you add yet another step or more to a simple phone call. So, I am still invested in my new phone and I'm trying real hard to like it. I recalibrate, I get the new firmware update which improves the phone a bit, but there are still way too many steps for a simple phone call.
The phone is solid and seems well built and has many easy usable features like calendar, contact info, html, etc. But the deal breaker as I said above was the screen. It is unforgiving and requires way too many steps to perform a simple task. I'm sure that this could be fixed with a simple software update but for right now I am back to the 815 and wishing a Motorola rep would write to me and tell me that a 2008 e815 is on it's way with html browser and no Yoyager like touch screen.
I am a loyal and long time customer of Verizon. I love the phone service and the customer service. I have never had a problem that wasn't resolved appropriately and I doubt I would ever switch companies. My only complaint with the entire company is the Verizon UI. I cannot say anything that has not already been said about it, I just wish that I could use a Motorola (or any other brand) the way the manufacturer intended. At this point I would even pay for the privilege if it was an option.
Returned my LG Voyager after 3 weeks--and I'm a Geek!
Gave it a chance. Just wasn't fun to use. Big disappointment!
--The lock/unlock key. It's important but what a pain. You can't get to the touchscreen without that step, and then you won't see the menu interface they show in ads until you click the unlock key and touch another icon.
--no flash on the camera! the LG enV and the V have a flash. i couldn't believe this!
--when you are on a "menu" type phone call and you're using the phone just flat (not with the clam shell opened) to press an option, like 1, or *, you have to click on a couple of buttons before you can get the phone screen. Not fun. If you use the phone inside, it's no problem, but it's a problem to have the speaker phone on to get through a menu
--mobile TV wasn't all that. The only live shows I found were Friday Night Lights, lots of Nickelodeon, Today, and maybe more but I don't have the phone anymore so I can't refer to it. The Tonight Show and Conan O'Brien were on about 5 hours a day. And when I had it the shows were in reruns. Maybe after the writers' strike is settled there'll be more live shows, but it's not a guarantee.
--the volume control when the clamshell is open is clumsy. you have to open the clamshell flat to access the volume buttons
--I had trouble with accessing my email. the interface was easy enough, you just had the clamshell open and clicked on the function key in the top left of the QWERTY keyboard. but where i had no problem with the V accessing yahoo mail, i had trouble doing the same on the voyager.
--website usability is so difficult. liked the vibration on the keys, but that's it. much easier to access yahoo mail using Verizon's web browser than going to yahoo's website. iPhone has that scrolling feature down; LG does NOT.
--syncing software isn't compatible with macs.
--no wifi; wireless modem is $60 plus $59 per month
Both my friend and I love the latest toys, and independently of one another, we both returned our voyagers.
Returned the Voyager
I was extremely disappointed with the Voyager. I had an enV prior and that was by far the best phone I had ever owned.
My biggest complaint was the touch-screen for the function of texting and phone calls. As I find it difficult to text while driving with the full keyboard, on my enV I would use the front keypad but that was near impossible with the Voyager because the touch-screen was way to sensitive, even after calibration. And what irritated me the most was the instant locking of the touch-screen when placing a call. I have a Bluetooth Car Kit in my car so this was more annoying than necessary. This "feature" was most irritating when calling voicemail or a customer service number. You have to unlock the touch-screen, then press the "Phone" button to get the numbers to reappear. Then you would would touch & pray that you hit the right buttons and end up in the right menu.
I waited 2 hours at the store to purchase this phone the day it came out, and returned it 30 days later.
I switched to the Motorola RAZR2 V9M and love it.
It really is a nice phone
Overall this is a great phone. I wasn't sure about the touch screen but so far it has worked like a charm. If you look hard enough you can find fault with any phone. But LG has made it very difficult to find any faults with this one. This one is a keeper.
not as good as you would think
ive had this phone for the five months,its been out. ive been through 3 OF THEM,so take my advice. i say that its a nice phone,but i think that they could have made it ALOT less sensitive. i mean the keypad and all is great. great camera quality,the whole works. but the touch screen was just way to sensitive for me. and it does have a little lock that you can touch to unlock it. but when i would go to put it in my pocket,it would call people,go on the web,change settings,do all kinds of stuff. my bill was going through the roof with internet charges,because the phone would go on itself. also,when i was getting phone calls it would shut itself down and freeze alot. it got pretty bad. i got sick of it,so i got an env,and its alot better.

Great Phone, Ugly Though!
I bought this phone one week ago, I paid the full retail price and I feel it was worth it. I text, chat, and email constantly and with this phone it has become a lot more fun and easy. I upgraded from the Samsung u740-Alias, that was the first QWERTY phone that I had and it made me wonder what a GOOD QWERTY keyboard would be like.
PROS:
Touch screen is very bright and well laid-out
Inside screen is bright as well
The QWERTY keys are very easy to use and nicely spaced
Holds a lot of messages (My inbox currently has 228 messages and going)
It holds my 8GB memory card.. so I can listen to my music

CONS:
The camera does not have a flash.. but its also just a phone
Without the rubberized cover its kind of ugly
Speakers are not very loud
Cant use GetItNow with the touchscreen

Well I cant think of anything else. In my opinion this phone is amazing. I love it. But I do recommend that if you get it this phone you should get 1)Screen protectors 2)Some kind of protective cover and 3)Phone insurance!
