ENV2

Jun 11, 2008 by IISMIKE24

Like the phone. Great features. But on three different times the phone called people in my speed dial on it's own. Verizon is sending me a new env2

Adapting

May 26, 2008 by momskittlez

Owned the phone for three weeks. Still adapting...

PROS:
1. Great volume on sound ring tones.
2. Front keypad is okay.
3. QWERTY keyboard is nice.
4. Phone size is perfect.
5. Battery life is great.
6. The rubber casing is nice.
7. Great quality phone feel.

CONS:
1.Screen on front is too small.
2.Font size cannot be changed on front.
3.Vibrate is not strong. Need vibrate and sound combo ring option.
4.Music button not practical. Prefer a programmable button instead,i.e missed calls or camera zoom.
5.Display should stay on front screen.
6.Personal banner only displays internally.
7.Personal banner is in fixed location blocking pic or wallpaper, and cannot be moved to top or bottom.
8. No smiley faces included with text adds.
9. Wallpaper on front screen not legible.
10.Clock overpowers front screen.
12.Contact number icons hard to distinguish on external screen.
13.Too many steps to view missed calls.
14. Awkward to take photos.
15. No spontaneous zoom feature on keyboard.

Tried to be thorough to let others know some things to expect. I have considered exchanging it for a different phone before my 30 days are up...

I shall not enV

Jun 14, 2008 by Tony382

I bought the enV2 before VZW even it out to display. Im in between jobs right now so an imcoming call is very important to me because it may be a potential job interview or job offer. What made me mad is that everytime i put the phone in my pocket, my cell phone pocket of my dickies, or even my jacket pocket the phone would mysteriosly turn off and i would miss a calls because of it. it happened so frequently i got really annoying. I started to wonder if the enV2 needed solar power to work. fortunately i was still with the 30 days trial run and i returned the phone and re-activated my old phone while i still shop and compare.

3 Weeks with Env2 It's going back

May 17, 2008 by stevensocal

I had the 8700 and 8100 and wanted a phone for texting. I have another work phone. Tilt that I use for work. When I got this phone I did like the size of it and all but then I found out there is a clich in the texting screen , that won't allow you to Capitalize the first letter. Even though it's clear that I am on Abc mode this phone won't do it. It's a major clitch for LG, why didn't they fix this? This is a texting phone and if you can't make a simple texting phone have this feature, I think I will send it back. I am not locking myself into a 2 yr contract with this phone , it's just not worth it. It maybe as simple as a software update but I think I am going to wait for the NEW IPHONE to come out and switch services. All my LG phones have been long lasting phones and usually very reliable phones. This one, will all the hype how could that leave this feature out ? Screen on front way to small, even though the Abc text works on the front useless feature for inside the phone. I did like this phone at first but it needs some updates before I give Verizon 2 more years of my business.
Pros. Great battery life and spearker phone is nice. But I need a REAL TEXTING PHONE. This isn't one for me.

Dont waste your money!!

I was bitterly disappointed with this phone. I had the env for 2 years and loved it, and didn’t even give it a second thought when I bought the env2. I loved the env, and just assumed the env2 would be even more awesome. Boy, was I wrong. This phone is a serious downgrade from its successor.

Cons:
-Front screen is horribly tiny.
-You can’t do anything from the front of this phone when it is closed. You can’t view your pictures, read your sent messages, scroll back through your message when typing a text (no left-right directional keys to do so, only a clear button), receive picture messages, or change any of your settings. This was a major deal breaker for me. All you can really do when the phone is closed is make a phone call.
-Camera sucked. All my pictures came out blurry. Nothing compared to the original env’s camera. No auto focus, and NO FLASH!
-30 second time limit with videos, env had unlimited.
-In the 3 weeks I had it, it froze on me twice, once during a phone call, once during a game of Tetris. Both times I had to take the battery out to restart it.
-Got sick and tired of constantly being prompted to “Open Phone To Continue”

Maybe my opinions are a bit biased because I’m comparing it to a phone that is far superior, so just to be fair:

Pros
-Buttons on the front are huuuge! Very easy to work with.
-Phone is tiny, fit in my pocket well.
-Came with really nice preloaded ringtones.
-QWERTY keypad, obviously.
That’s about it.

Overall, I’d say don’t waste your money on this phone when there are so many other phones available for the same price that are so much nicer and more functional then this. Especially don’t get this phone if you’ve had the enV! You WILL be disappointed.

I can't envy this.

I was the second in my little town to get the enV2. I love LG phones and this was my first candy bar phone since the Nokia days. I love the look of the enV2, but a bar of soap is just as slick and less frustrating. Dropping phones so easy with polished chrome (like) edges and the deck of cards form factor. The matte finish on the back is the only thing that saves me from tossing this thing every time I pull it out of my pocket. Being a flip owner, you have to unlock this baby every time. Even with it locked, a few minutes in my front pocket got me 14 calls to every quick dial I had. Answering a call is as simple as hitting send, unless you get a call while trying to text someone. Then ending the text keeps you from answering the phone. While the LG operating system is well done, the enV2 is not intuitive and seasoned pro users find an unneeded learning curve. The big keys on the front didn't work out. They have to be pressed exactly in on the spot to work. The limited function of tiny front screen just slows me down. The QWERTY key board is wonderful and if I have time to pull over and sit on my hood, I can text just like a 15 year-old.

Pros: Great screen. Good Internet experience. Great Verizon signal and battery life. Best speakerphone in the business. Music player is exceptional. Good still camera and fair movie camera.

Cons: Not intuitive. Learning curve. OK Button is easy to miss. Auxiliary buttons under the screen are tiny and uncomfortable to use. Front keys feel cheap. Case is slippery. Charger port is hard to use. Symbol key is useless and should be a toggle function of the shift key. Key lock function doesn't work well. No camera flash. Vibrator often goes unnoticed.

Summary: I like the idea behind the LG envy and the enV2, but there are so many annoyances with this model that I find myself wanting to send it back. Maybe the enV3 will do it all.

This Phone Is Awesome!

Okay, guys, my first review so bear with me.

I just got the EnV2 yesterday, and I must say: WOW!

Excellent size, and weight, perfect QWERTY keyboard, nice camera. I'm in love.

It was ok until a few minutes ago....

Jun 2, 2008 by stegaro

Things were going well until 30 minutes ago when I discovered that I can not delete or edit my contact list. This is very odd. I pulled out the manual and confirmed my phones does not have these options. I have owned a lot of phones and have never experienced anything like this....

I also had to change my security settings due to the "ghost calling". My mom called me yesterday morning to tell me she overheard a conversation I was having with someone else. I NEVER had this problem with my V or enV1.

Overall I think the phone is good but this contact thing is really bugging me!

Had it less than a week.

I love the qwerty keypad. I had a voyager for a few weeks until it had problems with the exterior screen.

Anyway, my major problem with the EnV2 is the hinge. It already feels loose and like it will fall apart anyday.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Much better, but not done yet.

I bought this phone because it's the only new qwerty phone VZW offers without changing to the new Nationwide plan.
Pros
-Good reception (at least in NY)
-Expensive looking phone well made
-Many customizable shortcuts
-Loud earpiece
-Very good battery life
-Keyboard letters are perfectly placed
-Beautiful large screen
-Looks like a normal candybar phone until you open it, not some odd looking device

Cons
-The earpieces clarity isn't good, I feel I have to strain a bit to hear what the caller is saying, my other phones didn't have this problem I barely had to focus on listening I just heard them, except for the V3M a little bit to be fair
-You can play music with the phone closed but you will barely hear it unless you open the phone because the speakers are inside
-The outer screen is small yes, but the background color and lighting makes reading the menu/contacts difficult unless you angle the phone just right
-The spacebar location on the qwerty keyboard is in an awkward place, it should be at the bottom middle
-I'm usually end up pressing okay instead of up/down/left/right on the inside directional pad because of the way it was poorly designed, the directional keys also creak on mine no biggie but they should have used a more expensive part for it
-Last thing just my own opinion, color choice, I would have preferred the pretty venus pink color instead of maroon, I have had so many red phones already.

In closing, I don't care for this phone much to use as a phone, the clarity of people on the phone isn't good & the small outer screen is annoying being it's not a breeze to read, you need that screen to use it as a phone properly. If it wasn't for the fact that I got it free with NE2 so it has great resell value and that I want one of verizon's newer qwerty phones without changing to the nationwide plan I don't think I would keep it. For everything else besides using it as a phone it's great but I did buy this because I need to make calls too :)
