so-so product

Nov 26, 2007 by cheapsweetdealz4u

I submitted this review by accident to venus, this review was meant for this phone.

After having this phone for a day, I must say i was not impressed. The features dont even compare to Iphone which I also currently have. What can i say the only thing that I think is good is the service with verizon, however all the restrictions on the phones and the restrictions on the service puts verizon at last spot on my wish list. I guess LG tried to put Iphone behind, but look at the facts:

Iphone has a bigger and better screen,
the iphone/apple interface (IU) is much better,
the battery life is much longer with iphone,
the multi touch system with iphone is incrediable, the 8gb build in, come on who would want to but an 8gb for so much money rather then to spend extra 100 and have the 8bg already build in.
There is also the ipod, why carry two devices when you can have only one.
Iphone also has wifi, voyager does NOT. In fact from side to side comparison, iphone seems tiny compary to voyager. Plus when you are typing a text or anything else other then email, the outside screen has regular 1-0 with three letters on everykey, so that spoils the whole typing experience (again this is only when its not oppened.)
Another thing that bothers me is that the speaker phone doesn't work unless the phone is oppened. Whats the point of that, horible, what were the designers thinking. Again just like with the rest of the verizon phone line-up, you should of taken the deal with Apple before ATT, but yet another stupid move on your part, you didn't. From hours and hours of me trying to enjoy voyager, i was dissapointed, also i forgot to mention earlier, it feels like a brink in hand. Definately not user friendly.

The Iphone? Hardly....disappointed

Before purchasing this phone I listened to and read several reviews that the Voyager would be similar to the iphone. I am a MAC user and was looking for a phone that would be useful for web surfing as well as syncing all my information and calendars. First of all....the phone is a brick. It's large for what it does. I have had Verizon wireless for several years and have been pleased with the quality of service that I get with them. The Voyager however, is an exception. I have noticed a high drop in my call quality and signal. Before the Voyager I had the LG 8300. I typically have good luck with LG phones so this came as a big surprise. The touch screen was ok.....but my Treo that I had a while back had a touch screen too. It also had a keyboard with keys that were smaller but raised higher. Suffice to say, touch screen is not a new technology. The web browsing was what I was most disappointed with. I cannot pull up full regular web pages like the smart phones can and I payed a even higher price. It doesn't perform as a phone well. The speaker is bad, its a pain in the rear to access contacts and the software is super slow. The data does not work well. It's just like my 8300 as far as web browsing goes. I still can't pull up my ical, accounting programs or even watch media and videos. It's too big to carry around, doesn't pair with bluetooth well. Im selling mine on ebay and getting a treo.

bring back the 8100!

well i must say after reading all of the other reviews, i must say that i agree with them all. i have a lg 8300 and other than the old 8100 its the better phone. the voyager was very dissapointing. my main thing other than making calls, is text messaging. the appeal to me was the fact that you can send and read texts on the front screen. lets face it, theres nothing simple about this phone. i had it 4 days and realized that it simply wasnt going to work for me. the touch screen is more trouble than im willing to go through. scrolling is a joke. it takes at least 3 moves to do anything. oh, and having unlock the screen everytime you want to do something gets real aggrivating. the best phone for my needs was the old 8100. why lg took the front screen text away from the 8300 is beyond me. stay away from voyager, its not worth the money or aggrivation. oh, did i mention that the call quality was terrible as well.

Had the Voyager for a week and it sucked!

I had this phone for about a week when it came out and it sucks! The battery would die in less then 2 days and I'm not a heavy user. The touchscreen lagggggggggggssssssss and does not respond very good (have to press a button more then once! The call quality was not good at all (sounds muffled).

Pros:
large screen
qwerty keyboard

cons:
battery life
lagging, non responsive touch screen
call quality
people sound muffled
ringtones are not loud

I will be getting the samsung u940 when it comes out.

Interesting phone

I enjoy this phone, coming from a Samsung U740, and am generally a loyal Samsung user. Picture wise, good lighting is needed, especially as there is no flash.
Visual voicemail is a perk of this phone, but a plan needs to be purchased in order to utilize the feature.
Signal wise, my U740 had a better signal than this phone does.
Texting on the touch screen is difficult, as you always have to watch the screen to ensure proper placement.
Sound quality is good with the phone.

lg vx-10000 verizon not worth it

PHONE: LG-VX10000 ($407.79) with Nationwide Premium Unlimited Anytime Minutes ($139.99)

Problem 1: Car charger not charging properly

After plugging in car charger, I noticed the battery icon blinking on and off while charging. It wasn’t the normal flashing the battery icon does when fully charged, but rather a flicker like there was a bad connection or a bad plug between the two. I brought my problem to the Verizon store where I set up and bought my new account and phone. They promptly replaced the charger with no problems. I then tried the new charger with the same flickering results. Brought the charger back into the store and said maybe it could be the phone. Customer service person told me, “That’s normal and you should charge your phone with the wall charger instead.” I asked if this happens a lot and his reply was, “I see this happen all the time and car charger usually and can mess up your phone and you should only use the car charger during emergencies only.” (Really???!!! I must have idiot written across my forehead) Well, he apologized sincerely, as probably trained and instructed by his higher ups, and sent me on my way.

Resolution: None. Problem still exists and I now have to manipulate phone and charger to work properly.

Question: If the phone and car charger sporadically work now, what will happen when I do have an emergency?
