Motorola KRZR K1m
Average Ratings
KRZR - Performs as advertised
The KRZR is a very solid phone. I'm not a power user; I send and receive txt messages, I connect to a Bluetooth headset, I access the ESPN network, and I make calls. I'm not interested in the music features. The KRZR has been terrific. It performs as advertised and the call quality is excellent. I've used this phone for about 6 months and can recommend it without any reservations.
Pros
Looks great, very sexy
Call quality is outstanding
Reasonable ringer selection
Great speaker phone
Pairs easily with Bluetooth headset
Loud ringers with ring and vibe
Great battery life
Cons
Fingerprints (who cares?)
Would be perfect if it was a little smaller
Camera is weak
I'm very happy with this phone. If you're looking for a great looking phone that performs exceptionally well, you can't go wrong with the KRZR.
KRZR - worth the money
In all my years of sampling cell phones (because my background is in wireless), one thing I have consistently noted: the tonal quality of GSM phones is pretty consistent across the board, however, CDMA phones vary widely. A phone is first and foremost an appliance for voice communication. If it sucks for that, then who cares how many oysters it can shuck.
I tested this model side by side with all other models offered by MetroPCS. I live in a market where Metro service is good enough that I consider it a decent value compared against TMobile or Verizon. ATT is actually the suckiest provider here -- so I basically don't care if their service was free, I wouldn't use it.
The Goods:
At the end of my tests, I concluded that the KRZR K1M sounded the best of all the phones on the rack. I made test calls to friends and to automated voice response systems. The volume was loud and the speaker sounded clear and crisp. In a crowded room full of people, it is the easiest one to hear. Sold!
It was their most expensive phone and I promise you that had nothing to do with it. I often found the cheapest Nokia candybars were the best GSM phones for the money. But for CDMA, you do have to spend some time.
CDMA nets are a little more complicated and the cheaper phones sometimes don't measure up.
The Bads:
The phone scratches easily. The MP3 player doesn't support stereo bluetooth (the GSM version does -- the CDMA version does not). Motorola's menu design seems better than Samsung to me, but Nokia still rules the roost in interface design.
Synopsis: Pimp daddy looks and best in class audio performance. This phone is worth the premium. I paid $300 for mine and I would do it again. Every word that I don't have to ask people to repeat anymore saves me time and money. Good job, moto. Can't give it a 5 because it isn't as durable as the RAZR, but it sure trumps it in every other way.
Verizon User Interface Software Ruins This Phone
The phone is solid contruction and battery is great - However I cannot stand the Verizon user interface...it is the same software as my mother's 2 year old LG that was a free phone. it's like putting a ford engine in a lamborghini. I hater Verizon for doing this and cannot wait to leave and get an iPhone - VERIZON IS RUINING THEIR PHONES WITH THEIR SOFTWARE - THEY ARE A SERVICE PROVIDER AND NOT HANDSET SOFTWARE CREATORS - STOP DOING THIS VERIZON!!!
great phone but its too small
this is a great improvment for the razr v3m, video is longer recording, front LCD screen has wallpapers, and seperate front inner screen!! you can take away the verizon banner now!! phone feels sturdy, the mp3 buttons on the front is extreamly nice!!the voice calls are extreamly clear, the speaker phone is extreamly clear, much improvered!! THOSE ARE THE PROS
--------------------------------------------
now the CONS, the phone is way to small for me, its tiny for a big guy/girl!! the inner and outer screens are WAY to small!!! and the only other bad thing is the camera on this phone, isnt good at all??? i dont get that!! the razrs are alot better!! you cant send ringers to the phone by email, theres a way but you have to trick the phone. the front part of the phone smuges pretty bad with fingerprints!! theres a few bugs on the phone, go to howard forums and look at those!!SO I DECIDED TO TRADE THIS FOR THE V3M WITH ACCESSORIES AND SOME CASH!!i hope i dont miss the pros to much!!!
Returning It Tomorrow...UI SUCKS!
I was super stoked to get this new phone. My e815 was big and bulky and I wanted something new.
PROS: Size, weight, screen clarity.
CONS: Price, User Interface (UI), poorer reception than previous phone.
The size and weight are awesome. I never knew I had the phone on me. The screen is super bright and clear.
But the price was too much when if you just wait a few months it will go down. This new Verizon user interface totally sucks. My e815 is so much easier to use and way more user friendly. This phone feels handicapped.
I can only assume since it is an internal antenna is the reason my repection is worse. Now I have trouble using it in my house. And for the money I paid it better work inside a Faraday cage!
Pretty much the only thing saving this phone is the size and weight.
Returning it tomorrow and hoping in six months a tower will be closer and the price will be lower.
