Motorola NO
This Phone just down right sucks its bulky its slow and the keyboard is very ugly the cameras okay but overall this is not recommended BUY THE T-Mobile DASH AkA Motorola Q Killer
Not bad, could it be better?
I bought the Q when it was first released. It was my first PDA/SmartPhone and was quite impressed. I have a couple complaints so far but I imagine that the phone's trip into the toilet three days after its birth has something to do with it. I use the internet on my Q quite often and have noticed that every once in a while (about 100kb of temporary memory) if I don't power cycle my phone it returns me to the desktop and I have to log back into whatever I was in at that time. Very frustrating. Also the keys are too rounded that you have to have your nails cut very short in order to type or your nails slip off of the keys and you push multiple buttons. Also I find myself typing fast which results in skipping some keys from time to time if you don't spend the time to completely press the button with full force. I still have not figured out how to send multi-media messages without sending it from my outlook or other email. Active sync also never really worked for me, is there a fix?
Other than that I love the phone, it's sleek stylish size and appearance are nice. I wear a suit for work and it fits in a suit pocket perfectly, nobody even suspects it. For my first PDA I am quite impressed. I don't know how I ever functioned with out it!
If I could choke a Motorola exec to death...
Better yet, if I could get the CEO's of Motorola and Sprint in the same gas chamber together... that would be the only way I'd feel better about my experience with one of the three Q's my business bought for our partners. Random locking up, random shutting down, random ability to do anything but answer the damn phone! I'm on my third, one of my partners is on his second and the third partner absolutely refuses to use his. He bought another phone and now has a $700 paperweight. Sprint service is the worst I've ever encountered in my life! I could talk anywhere on my Nokia with cheap Metro PCS service but with Sprint I have zero signal AT MY HOUSE! How am I supposed to run a business with no service? The Sprint coverage map shows good coverage in my area, BUT ITS WROOOONG!
Run away! Save yourself!
DON'T BUY MOTOROLA!!!!!
DON'T USE SPRINT!!!!!
This one was just rediculous
Working in the tech field for 8 years made me pissy at anyone who gave a phone a 1 rating because of a specific experience. But this is just crazy. I got a moto Q for me and my wife and when we got ours we really liked them, so did 2 of our friends. First mine went capoot, it turned off and never awoke again. I got a replacement, then 1 week later, my replacement goes capoot. Right after mine goes capoot our 2 friends phones on the same day went into the ever so popular "infinite loop" Well I wasnt about to go for a 3rd so I got a 700wx (happy with it now) Well my wife is happy with her Q cause it hasn't given her any problems at all....that was until it looped.... We just got her wx in today so I have to say this phone is a no go for me.
Pros:
LOVE the size
Nice keyboard layout
slingbox compatable
Cons:
An overall POC phone
battery life was horrible
lag time everywhere.
Wretched piece of crap!
This is the worst smartphone I've ever had. It's unreliable, the phone crashes all the time. The internet often stops working for no reason at all. The keys are too difficult to press and it has an annoying scroll wheel like Blackberries.
I moved to a Verizon PN820 and have been more happy although I miss my Cingular 2125.
Was saved by Sprint employee
I was about to purchase this phone when a sprint employee pulled me aside and told me of a pending recall on the Q. If you are wanting to buy this phone DONT, wait for the Qh9 with windows mobile 6
Smartphone Dud
In 2005 I moved from a Sprint friendly place to a Verizon friendly place so I had a Treo 600 and moved to a Treo 650. Found I still had limited service so Verizon suggested the Motorola Q.
They were correct. I have better reception with the Q when its not locked up. From talking with coworkers and reading forums its not uncommon to have a Windows phone lock up allot. I find it unacceptable and require a phone to work.
I recently updated my phone with the recent update Motorola released and we will see if that corrects my phone instability issues. So far I have been very disgusted with Windows Mobile and look forward to moving to something like a blackberry or iphone (non-windows).
Also a disappointing feature is the media player. Its very clumsy and doesn't always go through your headphones and decides to go through the speakerphone instead.
If headphones are plugged in the phone still rings instead of pumping the ring through the headset.
This phone has allot of annyoing and not user friendly features.
I miss my Treo, but now that Treo is Windows I am going to stay away. Microsoft always messes up a good thing.
