Samsung SPH-M500

Don't waste your time
This phone is a piece of junk, the camera on it is a joke, their is absolutely no customization on it, freezes up when you text to quick. It's like it can't keep up with you. This phone will piss you off several times daily .... less than some others at least.
Good phone, nice features
Received this phone as a replacement for my a920 and was reluctant at first but seems to be working out great...
The lack of outside controls for mp3 and flash was a disappointment but i've dealt with it. Just bought a Motorola S9 headset and can control music selection with that and it's color matched
Pros-
very thin and light weight (the a920 felt like a brick in the pocket)
Metal outside cover feels great
updated t9 is a winner
extra applications
stereo bluetooth
cons-
no flash
no outside mp3 controls
battery life is a little bit less than a920
Horrible Phone
The key pads are dark and depressing. And too close together. The reception is horrible. The battery life is horrible. The whole experience with the phone was horrible. The phone ended up in a blinder. Uggghh, worst phone ever. I would not recommend any one buying this phone. Unless you want to spend hours in the Sprint store trying to get it fixed. You know, it's just not worth it if you do not have full coverage insurance. Trust me.
PRos: Very thin
ConsS: Everything Else
A Horrible Phone (In my opinion)
I hated this phone from the minute I got it, when I was getting this phone I walked out of the dealership walk to the car, when you get in, and dropped the phone in the parking lot, the screen has been wobbly ever since!
Pros:
> Plays music, Mp3, AAC, I think.
Cons:
> Horrible 1.3MP Camera.
> Very tiny screen.
> Looks nice at first but drop it once and it's all over!
> Vibrate is annoying when you did not read your last text message (buzzes for 30 seconds straight!)
> No custom , unless you buy them!
> Blue-tooth sucks!
Everything that could go wrong with this phone, has gone wrong. I'm not saying they are all like the one that I bought, just mine was, and I'm going to scream!
This samsung, in my opinion, should never have be put out on the market in the first place.
little things have big power!
the only disadvantage to this phone, i think, is that there is no flash. this little thing packs power vision. mp3 is loud. fits perfect anywhere.
Good little phone, in red.
This is a great little phone, and gets compliements when in red.
Pros:
-size
-ringer volume (using downloaded ringers)
-vibrate and ring
-speakerphone
-camera quality
-sound quality
-battery life not bad when not using radio/tv
-good fifth pocket size
-mass storage mode
-bluetooth
Cons
-voicemode for sms won't train
great little phone
I only bothered to purchase this phone because my Samsung a920 took a little dip into a large quantity of beer and decided to shut down on me. But other than having to pay the outright price for it, I've enjoyed the 500 thus far. It is much sleeker than the 920 and still contains nearly all the features, with the addition of bluetooth obex transfers. The only think i don't really like about the phone as of yet is the look of it when it is opened, it seems rather bland.
Pros:
sleek exterior design
good mp3 player with expandable memory slot
50mb of internal memory which allows longer videos to be shot
decent quality 1/3mp camera
very light
Cons:
Odd looking open-clamshell design
Ringer volume could be louder
ringer
ok soo its small sleek has power vision on it thats all good but the ringer volume on it is terrible i mean i can only hear it if its next to my head. if it's in my pocket, in my coat or in another room FORGETABOUTIT, you are not going to hear it at all.
I want my Fusic back!
Well, sold my Fusic after getting the m500, and now I really want the Fusic back due to it's overall functionality, features, ease of use compared to the m500. Maybe it's just LG vs Samsung and how they integrate their features, but the LG Fusic was awesome.
I got the m500 to replace the for a few reasons: style (sleek, light, internal antenna), music player (like the Fusic, however no FM transmitter/external controls), bluetooth, presumed battery life in a small package, samsung reputation. Probably won't keep it too long, though, as my overall expectations have not been met.
Without further ado, here are the pros and
cons:
Pros:
Design--small, light, sleek, internal antenna, port covers
Very well balanced phone with cover open
Reception--actually pretty good given internal antenna
Features--Music player, decent camera, speaker phone, bluetooth
Sound--didn't think it as bad as some have thought
Power Vision is lightning fast
Cons:
Design
- phone case is actually too sleek. slips in your hand very easily. samsung might want to knurl the finish a bit in the next version.
- Camera key - tends to get activated by your palm on flip open, welcoming you with the camera menu.
- Menu key - too slick and depressed. leads to activation of unwanted navigation keys and takes you away from desired function
- Navigation keys - this is not a "no look" option phone...again a sacrifice to design
Function
- Contact search - long wait for contact pull-up after letter input
- no dedicated speaker phone key (and no way to program one)
- Internal within-text navigation functions not too user-friendly (using either alpha or t9 texting options)
- camera - no flash (probably not a biggie)
- music player - not nearly as user-friendly as the Fusic and no fm transmitter
- battery life - abysmal (i suppose to be expected in such a small package). will need to get extended life battery and new battery cover thus destroying the "aspect" of the phone
