Sanyo SCP-7050
Average Ratings
spot on Sanyo!!!
great phone, LOVE the ruggedness of it!! dropped it down three steps last week and it worked no problem. I just wish they could have made it an internal antenna.
Pros:
A-gps
built like a brick S-house
cons : stub antenna
BAD Speakerphone.......GREAT phone
This is a well built phone from Sanyo and I appreciate the nice clean design. The major issue I have with this handset is the very poor speakerphone.Unless you hold the phone 1 inch from your face and raise your voice, the party your speaking too will say, hello? Are you still there? This happens under a full strong signal and is simply poor design. My last Sprint handset was the LG VI125 and I was able to speak at normal levels with that handset and have the unit 3 foot away with no issues on speaker. If you use this feature look elsewhere because this unit is useless.
PROS- Nice design for rugged use.
Very nice holster with a small "window you can see the status light blinking to advise you of voicemails received.
Loud ringtones and strong vibrate mode.
Large colorful screen,nice and sharp.
CONS- Speakerphone unuseable.
Best reception out of all current phones
The signal strength on this phones beats any other phone in the sprint line up. True there is no camera or MP3 player but if all you need is a really good phone this is it.
Great Phone if You Don't Need the Junk!
I've used the new SCP-7050 for a few weeks now and I love it. It's battery power is amazing, as the phone seems to be in "stand-by" mode when not in use. After the first night's charge (which only took about 2-3 hours) I had full battery life for 3 days! It's a great phone for those who aren't into all the gadgetry, no pics, no MP3's, nothing of the sort (finally!). Just a durable phone, extremely well made! Being in the military myself, it truly stands up to my own personal expectations for ruggedness.
However, there are a few cons. The phone is rather bulky, not heavy, just large, especially when combined with the belt clip that comes with the package. There are grooves and indentions on the faceplate that some sand did get stuck in as I tested it out on the beach, but it was nothing that I couldn't pick out or use a toothbrush to remove.
All in all, this phone meets and exceeds my expectations for having a durable and reliable phone that I don't have to "baby" around in fears of breaking it. Combine that with Sanyo's reliable phone history and I'm sure I'll be using this phone for many years to come!
So Far So Good
This phone gets a 4.0 because I have not seen no new issues. Speaker phone may seem a little muffled but bring it to your local Service and Repair Center for a free fast fix ( under Sanyo's 1 year warrenty) if you find the speaker has a problem.
This phone came into stores about 3 weeks ago so it's still to soon to know more but overall this phone is the best phone to buy if your looking for basic with no bells or whistles.
