Samsung SGH-T439
Average Ratings
Deficient product
The SGH-T439 works OK as a simple cell phone, but has a lot of serious problems. I received it for "free" with a 2 year contract and discovered some serious design flaws after the 2 weeks "buyer's remorse" period, which meant that I couldn't return it to T-Mobile.
PROS:
OK looks, no sticking out antenna, voice message recording, MP3 player, Bluetooth.
CONS:
1. No audio alerts for missed calls or messages - to check if you missed a call or have a missed message you need to flip-open the phone. I use the phone for work and cannot miss calls, so I continually have to flip open the stupid thing throughout the day - the SGH-T439 is the only cell phone I've seen missing the alert feature.
2. Voice dialing is so awkward to use that it is practically nonexistent.
3. You cannot customize anything about menus or buttons; they are designed to the liking of T-Mobile and not the end user.
4. All plugs are proprietary. The charger, earpiece, stereo headphones have to be specifically for SGH-T439, other Samsung plugs don't work.
5. Digital camera of very poor quality. I was hoping to be able to take pictures of printed texts instead of rewriting them by hand. But they come out blurry and useless every time.
CONCLUSION:
When I got the SGH-T439 I was hoping to upgrade from my simple old Motorola, but it feels more like a downgrade. T-Mobile wouldn't exchange it after 14 days.
Great Phone
I upgraded to this phone from a Motorola razr. I never owned a Samsung, but I'm glad I made the choice. This phone is really nice. It was free to on T-Mobile.com. It has everything I need in a phone. Music player, bluetooth, and a slot for a memory card. The camera is also nice. 1.3 megapixels. The slim design works well to. Def recommend to anyone!!
