I don't really like it

So my trusty Startac died, and I had to get a new phone. I wasn't crazy with any of the current Verizon offerings, so I chose what I thought would be the best phone they had - the LG VX2000. It has some nice features, speaker phone (which seams very quiet), some games (very slow), expanded memory compared to the startac (which is nice), plus it is small and light.

I've had this phone for just over 24 hours, and I'm not happy with it at all. The call quality is not very good, and this is in New York City where there is good cell reception. The most annoying thing is that there does not seem to be any way to adjust the volume during a call! Very frustrating. I ordered a startac from ebay and once I get that the LG VX2000 will go back in the box to rot.

Pros: small, light, basic layout, pretty easy to use without looking at the manual too much.

Cons: poor reception (even with the antenna up), inability to adjust volume in mid-conversation, no voice dialing (although it's implied that the phone has it, you need the hands free kit to use it)

Eh. Wasn't impressed.

Having come from an all-Nokia background, I found this phone to be difficult to use, ugly and flimsy.

To be honest, I never chose to have this phone; it was sort of given to me as a gift. Nevertheless, whenever one receives a gift it is one's initial instinct to be grateful and to do one's best to enjoy the gift. This was extremely difficult with the VX-2000.

For starters, it is ugly. Somehow the people at LG managed to make the phone's layout extraordinarily unseemly and unattractive. The colors look funny and make the phone look much older than it is. The screen, too, reminds me of that of one of my really, really old phones.

The phone itself is difficult to maneuver and program. The layout is annoying and hard to navigate and locating phone book entries requires acrobatic ability. The display itself is that pathetic lime green color and is absurdly old-fashioned.

The ringers are fairly decent, and they were the only part of the phone I can say I really enjoyed. The speaker option, too, was kind of cool, though its range was minimal and you had to change from regular to speaker mode during the conversation, which was awkward.

Reception was terrible and the phone wouldn't bother beeping or anything to let you know it was turning off. It just... did.

Really, the only two positive points were the decent ringers and the speaker phone.

Oh, and the fact that Verizon lets you return the phone. My Nokia should be arriving any day now.
