Fabulous Phone

Jan 24, 2009 by tropicalisland

I have had this phone for close to a week, and I must say I really love this phone.Love the deep blue color with the light grey interior. It's lightweight, but I feel it's pretty sturdy. The sound quality is awesome. Stereo speakers on front of phone is great, no problem hearing it, and I keep mine in my purse. Sounds clear as a landline. Battery life is great. With normal usage about 5.3 hours of talk time. I use it mainly for talking and texting, and the battery lasts a long time. Speakerphone quality is excellent. Not muffled, sounds very clear and crisp. The screen is nice and clear and bright, both inside and out. Texting on this is very nice. The keypad is just the right size. Raised some, so very easy to text, plus you're not hitting several keys at the same time. Not slow, and doesn't lag. The phone is a small size, but not overly tiny. Fits in the hand very well, and is comfortable. The backlight on the keypad is evenly lit, and a bright white. Overall, I can't really think of any cons for this phone. It does what I need very well, and I feel this will be a great seller for Verizon. Love it, and so glad I purchased it!

Very nice phone!

Pros:
Loud ringers
Strong vibrate
Great call quality - the clarity is fantastic.
Excellent reception. Where I work is pretty much a dead zone. My last phone, a Samsung U540 barely got a signal there. The VX8360 gets 1-2 bars there, which is phenomenal improvement.
Very quick UI with the classic theme. The default water theme looks nice but the animations slow it down a little.
Bright colorful screen
Strong hinge
Speakerphone is better than most (not that it means much)
Bluetooth works well. I can actually sync the phonebook with my car.

Cons:
Can't change ring settings with the phone shut. You have to flip it open to adjust the volume or put it on vibe.
The directional arrows around the OK button are a little too small. I'll probably get used to it after a while.
While the camera has quite a few options, the quality still kind of stinks.
Strong hinge - makes it harder than it should be to open the phone with one hand.

Phone has large buttons on key pad. Very easy to access. Reception and clarity is excellent. Screen size is perfect with excellent clarity. Font size is adjustable.Very simple to use. Battery life is very good. Still somewhat of a problem with reception in poor areas. Overall a great little phone and I highly recommend it.

Great little phone

After many months of searching for a basic phone to replace our aging Motorola e815's, Verizon released the LG VX8360 -- no frills cell phone that has good phone reception at a reasonable price. Data and text messaging are not features I am interested in. I have those functions completely blocked on my service. After 48 hours of use, here are my observations:

Pro:
* Phone reception test -- my basement is a dead zone for many callers -- In a word: GREAT.
* Reception is equal to my old Moto e815, as a comparison.
* Installed and formatted a 2 GB micro-SD card -- works perfect.
* LG's menu system is far better than Verizon/Moto's menu system.
* Camera has increased functions -- better white balance, 3 resolutions of pictures, separate store soft key.
* ICE menu with important notes capability.
* Now able to transfer picture and music files to and from my Palm T5 via BT without firmware hacks.
* My old Moto BT headset paired right up.
* Speakerphone is louder than my old e815 -- the front facing speaker is also larger.
* Full duplex Speakerphone -- a real nice change.
* Phonebook is feature filled in comparison to my older phones.

Con:
* Ringer is much quieter than all of my previous cell phones.
* The phone has to be open in order to use the speaker phone.
* Vibrate mode is weaker than my e815.
* Pulling the phone out of a holster -- too easy to press the side voice memo button.
* LG has an option to change the front small screen in the menu, but selecting a new screen fails to change the default.
* Music files transferred by BT are placed in the My Sound directory, not in My Music directory.
* Non-standard 5 pin micro-USB charging/data port -- a standard mini and micro USB cable will NOT work.

Overall, I'm pleased with my upgrade. I have recommended this phone to others who are looking for an upgrade at a reasonable price.

Really Good Phone

I’m on Verizon and got this with the NE2. The previous phone was a LG8600 which never gave me any trouble. It was just time for a new toy. At this time I’ve had it for a little over 1 month. All I wanted was a good phone.

Pros:
Easy to use
Nice displays (clear)
Nice UI (some new menus)
Loud ringers
Nice sounding rings and quite a few to choose them
Buttons have a nice feedback when pushed
Battery life is “superb”
Reception is great as well
Size ** see cons
Form (fits in hand great)
Colors of phone are nice
Memory card slot

Cons:
Size ** Although I like the height and width, the thickness does bother me just a bit. The LG8600 was thinner.
Camera works but not great 1.3 only

Great little phone

I upgraded from a Motorola v710 that worked well overall, but it started having issues due to normal wear and tear (3 yrs). So being a clamshell phone type guy I got the 8360. Really like this phone. Works well, battery life is as good as my 710 had with hi-cap battery, and audio quality is very good. Since this also took the place of a pager (who still uses those right?), It slips easily in the pocket. Display is bright and clear. This phone is perfect for the person who needs a basic flip phone, and who reads text messages more than they send them. Not fancy, but not supposed to be.

Great phone

I've had this phone for about two weeks now and it's a really good phone. I switch from an lg chocolate 2. This phone gets a lot better reception.

Pros:
Great sound quality
Good battery life (about 3 days standby)
Great reception

Cons:
None really except that the front screen scratches really easily, so a case is suggested.

best phone ever

Not Bad

I have a VX8300 for over 2 years. It works great even though I dropped it numerous times. I decided to get the upgrade to the latest edition of the same type of phone. Since the VX 8360 just recently came out I decided to try it out. I've only had the phone for about an hour and I made a few calls just to try it out. What suprised me was when Verizon transferred my contacts over to the new phone, it also transferred my pics. I thought that was pretty cool because they couldn't do that before. Anyways the regular calling sounds great, bluetooth is great but speaker has a hiss in the background. I only have a comments on what I don't like. They may seem minor to some but for me I'm just picky.

Pros
Nice colors and font choices
Pics are more clearer

Cons
No date display on front wallpaper only time, to see date you have to open the phone

speaker phone has a hiss sound to it

The normal font size setting for dialing numbers display does not work only large font does. I think this is a bug in the phone. I'm going back to Verizon to confirm with another new 8360.

If the speaker worked better I would give this phone 5. I'm ok with the date not showing up on the front and I can care less about dialing with large fonts. Most of my calls are from my contacts which display their name and number in the normal size font setting so my guess is that it is a bug in the phone.
