Nokia N-Gage
Average Ratings
I like the QD-NGage better
I was looking at possibly purchasing this used when my 6170 gave out. I was in love with N-Gage-Q-D better though as it was newer and had more options. But I could have chosen this.
Most interesting phone I've ever owned!
I've owned this phone for almost 2 years now and this phone does it all (well, except as a camera but most of camera phone suck anyway) It plays MP3 and when you're tired of MP3, you can switch to FM radio, and when you're tired of radio, you can play games and this is the most exciting feature: the graphic is really good and play like Gameboy with D-pad. Another good feature is that you can record your favorite songs from radio onto your memory card (I bought an adapter so I can record sound from any source: TV, CD....) It also has a PDA function. I have a 512M memory card and I have 12 games and 30 MP3 songs on it! You can never be bored with this device! I wanted to buy the new upgrade version QD but there're more cons of this one than pros: no radio, no international band for roaming in Asia and some other European countries. Anyway, this phone is almost perfect, the only cons are: sideway talking, battery life, and the size is a little bit big (but it's because it has the big screen for gaming)
perfect
Ok, so I bought it for 115 EUR (it's around 100 dolars I think), had it for three months and lost it a week ago.. Would buy it again, but no one sells it anymore and I'm not into second-hand mobiles..
PROs
mp3 player is amazing, excellent sound
radio is great too
tons of games
tons of apps
fast at typing SMS (i hate when phone needs 10 mins to type a letter)
bluetooth
last but not the least ( the most important actually) has symbian-older version, but still symbian is symbian
CONs
compared to pros, cons are practically unimportant, but still it has it
if you have a bigger MMC( i had 512 Mb) as someone already mentioned, mp3 player needs a while to start
You have to get the battery out so you could put the mmc inside
Too little internal memory, so some games can't be installed
Some games don't work (without a reason)
Has a lack of some options (can't save some things on the card)
a little slow(especially with bigger mmc)
overall, for that money excellent phone, better than some newer ones (and expensier)
should have it for some period in life, if you want to see what a good smartphone should look like
**has no camera, but why would you need it anyway, if you want to have a good camera buy a digital one, not a phone with a camera
Way ahead of it's time...
...it's not even funny.
Con's: Sideways talking, BT handsfree compatibility, OS patches (have to send to Nokia would be nice to do periodic updates), MMC change out (dismantale phone), proprietary handsfree jack, lack of qwerty, email storage on phone/not diverted to memory card, fm radio requires handsfree kit, portrait view (instead of landscape), charger location (can't charge and play games comfortably), no camera (it's target audience would appreciate), memory, and data class 6 gprs.
Pro's: Symbian series 60 OS, MP3 player, stereo, fm radio, Tri-band, bluetooth, MMC capable, reception, audio volume loud, clear screen, ergonomics, cheap data feature (tzones instead of unlimited internet), sms ease (predictive sms and easy to change between characters/numbers/symbols), and durable.
I've had about 10+ phones in the last 2.5-3 years and keep coming back to this one (have had it for about 1.5 years). Though there are phones that can out do it in one area or another this thing overall is the better package, not too large it's hard to lug (unless you wear shorts all the time) and relatively cheap. Only the upper end uber devices (Nokia 9300/9500, Sony P-series, pda/phones $600+, and the lastest generation smart phones) can compete with it. Highly recommended.
A Very Nice Phone ... but a few problems
i got this phone recently and im really happy with it. here are a few pros and cons.....
Pros..
the phone has an amazing MP3 player. the loudspeaker is nice n loud too. secondly the phone has a 2.5mm headset jack, so u can connect any headphone and connect to the car player using the car electronic cassette by using the converter. the phone also has a radio. the games are amazing and the best part is the multi-player option. the bluetooth function works really well. the alarm is pretty loud.
Cons..
the phone becomes slow when a high capacity MMC is used. i use a 512 MMC and it takes a long time to load the mp3 player. the battery life is ok. but the phone needs to be charged almost everyday. the phone is also big. it has many wonderful functions but the phone would have been better if it had a camera.
but overall the phone is worth it especially for gamers.
THE WROSTEST PHONE YOU CAN OWN
first off,the sound is hard to here and you will most times have to ativate loudspeaker just to listen.the battery life is weak that lastest 1 day which would get on your nerves allways having to charge it up.there are a lot of static while playing some radio stations.the worst part is the gaming.you would have to leave it on the charger to play a game because the baterry life is gone quick.it would sometimes hang up by itself which frequnly happen.you would be better off with it twin nokia 6600
Plz read the Cons
PROS
Are mentioned allready .......
Cons
1. I have not found any method to send file bigger than 4 MB via Bluetooth bcoz the fone mem. is only 4MB
2. Use the headset very carefully bcoz the width of the wire at the connector end is only 1mm. In just 3 months my headset's internal conductor got broken bcoz of which I can hear sound only in 1 earfone & also the midlle button of the headset doesnot work.
What a fun phone
Pros:
Its great for a trip with the mp3, radio, game and intrnet capability.
It has symbian so it also expandable if you need to add a capability it dosent have such as the ability to view power points or word documents, or full html webpages.
Cons:
The way you hold it seems to hinder reception, realone player dosent play files in stereo.
