finally a nextel bluetooth (yeah)

May 16, 2005 by alitvid

When Nextel release their bluetooth phone I wanted to be one the ones who got one, cause I belive wireless should be be truely wireless and not have some cord dangle from your side or in front of you etc... so far so good by bluetooth headset works just fine and I am able to hear and be heard so I am a happy camper.... In my viewpoint the phone works better than the I860..... Now if they would only make a bluetooth headset with built-in ptt; I would be a real happy camper...

Battery Talk: 4.8 hours max. (290 minutes)
Standby: 240 hours max. (10 days) LiIon
OH PLEASE! .. goes dead in 10 hours.

My company bought a dispatch system with these phones.

I have had this 6+ months:

!. Maine (where I am )has VERY limited nextel range. I can travel an hour from a town only to get back into range and find out there was a service call back where I have left an hour previous. How handy!

2. The alert: "java speaker" resets itself so that i cannot hear alerts when I get them.

3. This phone must have been programmed by committee ..... to accept an option you have to hit OK, or next, or any number of DIFFERENT choices deoending on menu - no consistency!

4. Dispatch system gives information not relevent to drivers (for office billing apparently)excludes helpful information that while appears on dispatchers screen does not appear on the nextel.

5. Get hung and will not access menues without a lot of hassle.

6. It has a mind of its own - as well as losing alert volume there are times when I can't confirm that I have received a call: i615 will default to "next delivery" instead of the usual "confirm" when a new call comes in .... so I scroll back up to "confirm" and hit "next" (next? not OK? - so intuitive) whereupon the nextel beeps to let me know I have a new call do I want to confirm: THE SAME CALL!. I repeat the procedure .... It alerts AGAIN! LOUDLY (as I have just adjusted it to 7 from 3 where it had reset itsef{see complaint #2.) you can do this 50 times and this phone will not shut up. ... even turning it off to reset it will not work. then after a while it will, when it apparently feels like it

7. This phone is bulky & heavy

8. were I not financially responsible for this phone I would have chucked it out a window or hit it with a hammer long ago.

My Razor phone with US Cellular was far superior in dependability, range, readability, ease of use, & battery life.

I do not recommend this phone at all

I would sooner use two cans & some string.

WOW and i thought the i830 was crap!

I jumped at the opportunity to get my hands on a bluetooth nextel (not wanting a blackberry) and I got this phone. it's big, not like "OH THAT BOAT IS BIG!" no more like "HOLLY %^&( THATS HUGE" you dont really know how big it was because when you order them, no one has it. OK that being said (did I mention it was a bit large, not, because it's not, IT'S HUGE!) OK I couldn't get the bluetooth to work with the Parrot CK3100 and the on-board acura TL hands free link. It worked with my jabra headset, but you got static (noise?) when the phone was on your waist, I am tall, but this is ridiculous! The bluetooth then (after a few weeks of not working with ANY CAR KIT EVER) i was getting bluetooth power up failures. After that, it woundnt mate bond marry connect or even hint to anything bluetooth. i called nextel, and they could care less. So not really thrilled with a feature I bought the phone for or the ridiculous morons at nextel who told me, it's more than 2 weeks old and more than 400 minutes (which is like 2 days usage)

Nice screen, bu the phone is BIG!
