BlackBerry 7250
Average Ratings
Owned one of these as well
This phone was one of my favorites on Verizon's network and is nothing to complain about, except theres no camera and there is mid polyphonicy sounding ringtones, (Dang I think I just complained hahha)
The phone occasionally locked up, but it was okay, after taking out the battery and it was probably all of the files I stored into it, you guys dont understand how many devices I have owned, and dropped. I dropped it on the screen once and I got a giant screen blob crack thing and had to leave it, well i loved the phone and it was good while I had the phone, I might switch to the Pearl if I can soon, when the contract is up, but it kind of costs a lot extra per month.
Sprint Q9C
I have been seeking the Holy Grail of converged devices for a few years now. For context, my recent smartphone history is Treo 600 -> Blackberry 7250 -> Blackberry Pearl -> iPhone -> 6800 "Mogul" -> Treo 755P -> Moto Q9C.
I have been looking for the right balance of phone/email/web/media player. AT&T 3G coverage is very sparse, so that means CDMA. EDGE is just too damn slow. (Hence the returned iPhone). I am convinced Sprint offers the best bang for your buck and broad 3G coverage.
The Mogul was just really cheap and clunky. OK for a mini-laptop, but hardly passed for a phone.
Palm 755P was a step in the right direction. I found its antiquated user interface and web browser options lacking (for example Opera Mini crashes every 3rd page). It is nice and simple, and is working great for my wife.
The Q is perfect. Its not tiny, but a good size and it has a nice solid feel with a rubbery soft-touch finish. The extended battery gives it similar usage times to the iPhone. The EVDO network is great for browsing on the phone, or using it as a tethered modem. GPS with Google Maps is simply amazing. Opera Mini runs great. Stereo bluetooth for listening to tunes at the gym. The quality keyboard is great for text and email. Sprint TV gives you something to do when you are bored surfing at the doctor's office.
Oh yeah, and its a great phone. Voice quality is excellent, including over bluetooth (will they ever fix bluetooth on the Mogul?)
I thought I would miss the touchscreen but I don't at all. WM6 Smartphone is designed to do everything with the d-pad or scroll wheel one handed - as it should be.
Small iterations in design where it really matters have made this phone one compelling package. The Q may be old hat, but this newest version is firing on all cylinders.
My 2 Cents
Pretty Nice
I am late in coming to BlackBerry. I have had it for about a day and a half.
I can say I like it.
Pros:
User Interface - Non cluttered Display very usable.
Signal - Pretty good reception .. better than 90% of Verizon offerings.
Software - Simple and functional.
- You can actually get to your contact information while talking on then phone !! very few phones let you do this.
Setup -- Everything is visible
PC link - Easy to do and configurable
Email - No need to comment on this feature!
Has almost all the features you want in a phone/mobile email handset.
Cons:
- It's a little big to hold and operate the jog dial if you have small hands.
- Voice sounds a bit funny .. like you are hearing through a bull-horn.
- I am not sure I like the digit keys for the dialing.. the are a bit awkwardly placed e.g. * is to the left (not below digits) and # is on the way top left .. again odd ball.
- The jog button is on the right side, so you have hold the phone in the right hand to operate it .. that sucks, I am used to SE 910 .. that has the button the left and I have the right hand free to write etc... lack of speaker phone makes this a "mute" point .. truly
- Can't figure out if you can change the ring tone .. the default one is not loud enough.
Ive tried them all and this is the best!
Im a Verizon dealer in Indianapolis and can personally say I have tried every pda phone that Verizon has offered in the last 3 years. Ive tried the treos, samsung i600,i700,i730,i830, audiovox 6600,6700. I will tell you that this device is top dog. Most people expect a pda phone to be like a swiss army knife and have every tool that you'll ever need. Fact is you need to ask yourself what you need most. If it is email then this is defintley your phone. Its also very sleek and fits in the included holder on your hip without feeling huge and heavy. The track wheel make this device so simple to use. The shape of this device is the best and so is the design. Rim only needs to twees it to make it take hold of the market. Verizon just make a software upgrades that makes the 7250 evdo so I will erase that one from the list. A brighter screen like the 8700 blackberry's and maybe a camera and a sd card slot. Even without its a winner and the phone I came back to after all of the other phones.
2 days
I have had this phone for two days but I love it. I've never had my phone, calander, emails, and internet all together!!!
The calander is easy to use and I like the layout, test messaging is easy and the keyboard is so easy.
The phone has a good sound quality, I wish it had a speaker phone.
Overall, it's a great phone. I'll probably never go back to regular phones. As for PDA/Phones combos, This is my first phone like this, but I will probably stick to Blackberry models in the future.
Personal Preference
To select a Blackberry.... it really depends on what your looking for. Myself I like having a qwerty keyboard to respond to e-mails within a minute. Thats me. If you don't mind waiting to reply to your sender by sometimes having to push twice to get the letter you want, then you wont mind the 7130. This screen (7250) is good, and has a qwerty keyboard for lightning fast responses to your senders, but the 7130's screen is hands down the best I have seen.
Pros- Super Fast response to e-mails and text (SMS)messeges, Good Screen, Bluetooth.
After 30 days I realize I dont go on my desktop as much.
Cons- No speaker, the size takes some getting used to. But I'm used to it after having it for 30 days.
In closing. Research what you want first before your purchase. Speed in response time with less keystrokes, and a good color screen, (7250) or slow response emails (double clicking a key to get one letter) with an awesome screen. (7130) Good Luck with your decision, And remember it's a personal preference. This one is mine.
love my blackberry
I have had "regular phones" for a long time and just recently purchased a blackberry 7250 for Verizon. I don't know how I lived without it. This is a great business tool. Now I can address problems as they arise and email or text the correct departments and personell for immediate follow up. I can keep a list of reminders and the address book is more than ample.

SOMETHING FOR VERIZON WIRELESS MEMBERS IF YOU TOOK THE TIME OUT TO READ MY REVIEW IF YOU HAVE A HIGH PRICE PLAN I THINK OVER $100 IS THE CUT YOU CAN GET THE DATA PLAN FOR ONLY $20 MORE ON TOP OF YOUR ORIGINAL PLAN. MAKE SURE TO ASK CUSTOMER SERVICE BETTER YET MAKE SURE TO REQUEST IT FROM THEM NOT ALL OF THEM KNOW ABOUT THIS. USUALLY THEY CHARGE $45 A MONTH FOR THE DATA PLAN WHAT A RIP OFF.
EVDO
I'm not reveiwing the phone - just letting you guys know this unit is EVDO Ready. When ready VZW will offer a software upgrade to allow access to EVDO.
Beats the previous VZW BB's by miles.
Far and away the best BlackBerry yet.
I am happy with this unit, all the features you need to do effective email management.
The browser is OK, but I don't need it for a primary browser so it's fine.
Everyones needs are different.
I would trade my 7100g for this in a heartbeat.
