Kyocera 2235

A Shocker
I was first attracted to this phone thanks to the brilliant blue backlighting. I thought it would be an excellent choice when I took into account the success I'd had with my 2135.
While the 2235 did satisfy me by continuing to give me the great signal I'd had with my 2135 as well as by jazzing it up a bit with the blue screen and the voice dialing, I had the disadvantage of having the most common problem: The Screen Blanked Out.
Sadly, I've seen far too many of these phones come back into our store for the exact same problem.
I was very disappointed in this problem. I certainly hope that they fixed it in the next models.
Does what its supposed to
This is just a simple phone that does what its supposed to. I liked the blue light and the simple menus and controls but disliked the lack of customization (lack of faceplates). Don't get me wrong you can get faceplates but you have to disassemble the phone to change them and after successfully doing this 2 times the the 3rd time claimed the life of my phone. Its just not easy enough and they don't want it to be.
Others with my provider had troubles with the LCD screen, I never did but it might be because I didn't have it long enough. I thought it had good battery life and decent signal (CDMA is fairly new in my area).
Overall a decent phone but not worth what US Cellular was charging for it - I bought it when it was on rebate so it wasn't that bad but overall if you have US Cellular go for the 3585 or 3586 from Nokia - much better buys.
Kyocera 2235, best phone I have used to date.
I have now been using a Kyocera 2235 for 3 weeks and have to say this phone rocks. Since I don't use a landline as my primary phone, so I need a reliable phone. This one is it! I am running S/W version JS1052, PRL version 50069, ERI version 50020. In San Diego: I don't drop calls, I haven't missed calls, and I have not missed any voicemail messages either. The same can be said up Hgwy 101 to the San Fran bay area. The phone also worked flawlessly up there over Thanksgiving. This is a good basic phone tht lacks the bells and whistles of my T720; I just needed a reliable phone with good battery life. The T720 had neither, the 2235 does. I typically get 2 hours of talk/data time with 2 days of standby before recharging my 2235. I am impressed.
I have purchased the Digital Phone card from Socket comm for this card and it works just fine with my Pocket PC. The PDA screen is still small, but the Kyocera 2235 provides adequate data speeds (about the same as my 56K modem) to check email, update my schedule info, and make my fantasy football league changes.
The only problem I have seen is that the 2235 gets confused when the same text message comes across with a different time stamp. It considers it a duplicate message. Overall not enough to not give it 5 stars.
2235
This is a cool phone to play with, but I did not like the sound quality at all. The Smart Sound feature was nice, but everyone I spoke to (while on this phone) said the sound was pretty bad.
I liked the ringer features, tip calculator, quick menus, blue color on display & keys, and the games. I found the keys sort of difficult to push, and they made a clicking noise because you had to push so hard.
I did like the phone book and its function, as well as the ringer classification of personal or business incomcing calls. That is a really nice feature.
I think this phone is for the younger generation and not someone like me, in their 40's.
3G How sweet this is..
This is definately a great accomplishment and milestone set by QCP/KY crop. With the most advanced chipset. After the fluke the 2035a and also the lack of the 2135. The Kyocera 2235 simply keeps a sleek near design and easy to understand menu.
The retail on the phone is also something to be proud of w/ the quality the handset gives
I rate this phone a 5!
Buggy Phone
I am a big fan of Kyocera phones. I have had this phone for 6 months now and I love that it is the standard user friendly, and good sound quality, and wonderful in picking up a signal. However I have traded out the phone 7 times now due the screen keeps going out, and the battery life is not very long at all. Over all I am disappointed with the phone.
My first phone
PROs
Ok,this is a great, little phone. It is very easy to setup, and such. Very nice for a first time owner.
CONs
The ringers are very limited. I mean,I have never heard of some of them. They stink. Oh,the one good thing about the annoying ringers is that you can make certain people an annoying ringer, and then you know not to answer. Very nice.
KYOCERA'S GIFT
This phone is very beautiful and Lucky for me. It is nice model & suitable for myself. Kyocera is my breath. I like blue light. I always feel it is Kyocera's gift for me.
Ehhh
Had this phone for over a year and never had any serious problems with it. It worked well enough to send and recieve calls but did pretty much nothing else. The ring-tones were all pretty high pitched and relatively unoriginal.
The built in calculator is a royal pain the the backside however, voice mail service was HORRIBLE, though that may have been the carrier and not the phone.
Overall this phone is good as a free phone but I wouldn't pay money for it.
Pretty good phone
I upgraded to the 2235 from the 2035a (which I really liked). The 2235 operates pretty much the same, except for some unknown reason they reversed the positions of the OK and BACK buttons, causing me no end of consternation for quite a while. All in all, a solid performer. Excellent reception, clear sound. The backlight must consume some battery, though... this one runs down quicker than the 2035.
This phone has been my only access to the internet for two years now (I'm using it to write this review, in fact), and I'm about to replace it (already ordered the new phone). I'm more than a little apprehensive about switching to a new phone, as this one has been SO reliable!
