Good Phone
I've had the phone for about 3 months and I have to say its pretty decent. I've dropped it so many times i cant keep count(about 3-4 ft average) and all it has are a few scratches. I like the light weight feels to it and love the red and black color scheme.
>Pros:
-Has a large LCD display.
-Keyboard makes it great for texting...in between a black berry and a standard 12 key phone.
-Good picture quality.
-Decent amount of On-Board memory.
-T9 is alright(not the best but not the worst).
-MP3 is pretty good.
-Speakers are great.
-Supports AIM,ICQ,Windows Live and Yahoo.
-Easy to access Micro SD card (you don't have to take out the battery to get to it).
-Can set lock apps. with password.
-Has a shortcut key that can be set .
-Cool color scheme.
>Cons:
-Phone has to be slid up to take pictures.
-Doesn't come with data cable (Didn't expect it to but it would be nice).
-E-mail doesn't work quite as expected.
-Battery life isn't the best.
-Wish it could text and play MP3 at same time.
-Keypad takes some getting used to because its flush against the phone.
-Freezes from time to time.
-Have to pick from 1 of 10 default messages.
The Blast
I had this phone for about 5 months now, i can say it's been my favorite phone that i have owned so far.
Pros:
Good Reception
Awesom camera (lets you take white and black and so many different types of effects in pictures)
It is very user friendly
Great phone overall
Cons:
Have recieved a few dropped calls
Can't change the ringtone for messages
T9 sometimes a pain to use and sometimes saves mistakes words that one puts and comes up often, should make a way how to get rid of those.
Great phone in overall
Nice job Samsung!
My mother owns this phone and she loves it and so do I. Sams Club sold us a good phone!
Pros
Nice Camera
Small size
cute sounds
Nice ringtones
Volume
Speaker
Battery Life
Cons
There was a problem with T-Mobile where we got a number and it was suposed to be her new number but it wasnt.
Overal Buy it! Its a good shot
im satisfied
i think the blast is a great phone. i upgraded from a samsung t219 (i had a blackberry pearl before that but that phone was a P.O.S.) its very easy to use and works great (like all samsungs)
PROS
-VERY clear MP3 player
-shortcut button
-decent camera
-very sturdy
-XHTML browser (myspace is soo much better now)
-able to minimize fave5 (press ok when you want it)
-SureType keyboard (way better than the 1 on my BB)
-AIM and E-mail (big plus)
-Image Editor (kinda cool)
-tip calculator and unit converter
-bluetooth
-great display
-many more
CONS
-keyboard is kinda flat
-not loud
-the d-pad is small so i always hit the end button when im trying to do something
-very slow browser (compared to my old nokia 6133)
-doesnt take the same charger as the other samsungs (i had to buy a new car charger)
-cant multitask (txt and listen to music at the same time)
other than those cons above, this is an great phone. kinda reminds me of my old samsung t519 (trace) and that was one of my favorite phones. if those cons could be fixed in a new version of this phone, it would be a perfect 5.
Please Blast away from me
I just received this phone on Monday, I ordered it over the phone from T-Mobile. Today I sent it back! The reason it sucks is because it did the same thing my previous phone did (Samsung Sght-509s).. When someone calls you and you don't answer it, the phone keeps ringing and ringing forever! It's so weird! You see that person on the screen calling you but you can't answer it; the only way you can shut it up is by removing the battery. So when my new phone started doing this I knew it had to go, that's too bad. Another thing I didn't like about the phone was the T9, you can't disable it completely, it must be turned off every time you want to send a text.
And last there is not a good case out there for it IMO. The case T-Mobile sells is not a good design because it blocks the speaker on the face of the phone where the ringtone comes from and the result from that is: when the phone is in the case you may not be able to hear it ringing especially if you have an mp3 as a ringtone. And you have to press the key pad button twice when sending a text (it does not respond fast enough).
PROS
* You can use any mp3 as a ringtone (you don't have to buy T-Mobiles crap)
* Clear sound from ear peice
* sturdy feel
* Clear screen, but not as nice looking as the Shadow.
* The phone is pretty much all good except what I had beef with.
Cons
* Another possible piece of crap!
I own this phone
I really don't have anything negative to say about this phone except for the whole text messaging thing. It is really annoying about the little blinking thing at the top when you've reached 30 texts. I don't know if anybody else has this problem but whenever i am typing it'll just randomly say "saved to draft" and kick me all the way out. I've noticed it mostly when i hit the o/p key twice in a row. The biggest con is not being able to have a ringtone set for incoming texts. Since i text 4-5 thousand texts per month I'd really like to be able to have a ringtone set for that. The keyboard was a little tricky at first but Ive seemed to adapt well. I don't know if i like how the charger plugs in. I absolutely love the color. (That was the selling point for me) I love the sound and IM. I could care less about e-mail. If you want to email then get a PDA!
Blast
I didn't give this phone a 5 because I am totally lost using the keyboard on it, I have had the envy through verizon and I still don't understand how to use this keyboard, and my husband use to call me the text messaging queen cause i was so fast at it now It takes me forever to send one little text.....
so if anyone can help me out with this it would be great :o)
Pros:
camera is awesome, love how you can move the pic to the left or right.
ringtones I make my own and they are loud and can clearly be heard even in my purse.
display is awesome again I make my own wallpapers and things and they are crystal clear.
Cons:
keyboard, at least till i figure it out.
cant change the text messaging tones which really stinks cause they have some blah ones lol
other than that I love this phone and am glad I got it I wasn't going to but I am glad I did
great purchase :o)
Samsung creates another great phone
I have owned many different samsung phones and have always been very happy with them. I love the design of them, they all look so sleek and modern. I love the quality and the "metal" feel to them. I love the interface/UI of the phone as well.
It has been awhile since I've owned a "phone", the last samsung I owned was the Samsung SGH - U740 through Verizon and that phone was AWESOME...
Now to the BLAST, Samsung has done it again. I am totally satisfied and happy with this phone.
I owned the Blackberry Curve personally while in transition to a new job that didn't provide a PDA phone and was totally happy with that until work decided to give me a "work" phone/PDA. So I had no need for the Blackberry personally but still wanted a personal phone.
So I bought the Blast:
Pros: SureType "Qwerty" Keyboard is awesome. I find the predictive text to be very intuitive and quick.
The sound and volume on the phone are perfect for me and I'm a little deaf.
The battery life is awesome and lasts even when I'm talking and texting up a storm.
The phone just "looks" sweet with the black on red color and the metal housing... sweet.
It feels sturdy. Doesn't feel like the phone is going to break.
The slider function is cool, never owned a slider before but am totally happy with it.
UI is easy to use and quick.
Cons:
It annoys me when the 1st 30 text messages save on the Sim Card, and then gives you a little blinking icon saying you have 30 text messages on the Sim card, but you can keep texting cause the phone itself can handle 200.
You can't change the text notification tones.
So far those are the only con's.
LOVE THE SAMSUNG BLAST
PROS
everything
CONS
somtimes the signal goes out
i switched from the blackberry peral and i like it so much better than the peral
Samsung BLAST: Don't waste your money or time
This phone is absolutely terrible! The email system stinks, always comes up with some error message or can't connect, or can't find, or invalid password... if you're on RoadRunner, don't even bother trying.
Next, is the text messaging and the overall keypad itself. The design is nice, but you can't type on it very fast. Typing very fast causes mispelled words because the keyboard can't react to your speed. It flat-out sucks!
If you hit the on/off button by accident, guess what.... your phone turns off.
I guess the only thing good about it is the fact that it's a 'slider.' But fortunately, there are tons of sliders available these days...
