Sanyo Incognito SCP-6760
Average Ratings
great but not excellent
I've had this phone for a week over 2 months. I have done some texting using keypad telephones and would hate it when someone would try to have a long txt message session. We had Net10 but it was no longer meeting our needs. My g/f was going to add a line to a family plan and I decided to come along too. Now, texting? family loves it so I had to look at QWERTY phones.
I really liked the Incognito from first look.
it opened easily and I could hold it easily. I have trouble opening things like flip phones but this one is easy. I thought I'd get a slider until I saw the Incognito. More space between keys and easy to use with special buttons right there on the keypad.
Bad news? The touch pad interface used for regular calls is about useless in full sun. It's not great in bright indirect light either.
For this reason alone, I would not recommend this phone.
Other problems are the placement of the camera lens. Since photography is done with the phone open, my finger lands right over the lens when held up.
The phone has a short battery stand-by time. Lots of texting will run the battery down quick. I get about 3 days with hardly using the phone besides turning on and off. It charges very quickly which is a plus if you use the phone a lot. You'll need it.

Nice looking but not very functional
Picked one up yesterday and am not at all impressed. The external display/functionality is limited in its usefullness -- can only make & receive calls; lookup contacts; call history, etc. No messaging or camera control from the front. This is really stupid IMO, since this IS a messaging/multimedia phone. Other observations:
PROS:
-solid build & keyboard
-dedicated buttons (inside) for emoticons & messaging app
-fast data (web, MMS send/receive)
-call quality and reception are OK
CONS:
-phone must be open to do anything other than basic call functions. Taking a picture is extremely awkward.
-actual display size is smaller than full screen area (there is about 1/2" of black sidebar on both sides of the display). Just looks wrong. I spent about 15 min looking for a setting that would make it fill the unused area but there is none.
Seems like Sanyo missed the boat on the physical design of this phone. The outer display functionality is half-baked and makes for an overall awakward experience.
not impressed.
I was really excited to try this phone because i text and email alot on a daily basis. The keyboard was great, but the phone froze on average 6 to 7 times a day, i had to take the battery out and reset the phone. it would also randomly shut off after i shut the phone. the front display was hard to see and made it hard to answer a phone call without opening the phone up. camera was really hard to use,and i found the battery life to be horrible. i had to charge it within 12 hours.
