Phone Scoop Review

The Samsung Intercept is a cute little Android phone, and one of the few with a full QWERTY keyboard. Is it a better choice than the bigger, older Samsung Moment? read review ›

No go on this phone..
When I first purchased this phone it was an alright phone but after using it I started to notice more lag and it freezing randomly, I can not answer my calls sometimes because of this. I haven't had an issue with the call quality or the signal quality, no complaints there.
PROS:
It was a FREE upgrade for me.
Smartphone
Qwerty Keyboard (Slider)
CONS:
Lags
Freezes
Have to take out the battery to restart.
I am on my second one and would not recommend this phone. Buyer beware.
Stay as far away as humanly possible
Sprint offered me this phone for free when it first came out and I know why. It is the absolute worst phone I have ever encountered. It freezes constantly, the screen blacks out but the other lights are on, a lot of apps do not work because the screen resolution is too low, and many many other issues. It is so bad that I have had to purchase a refurbished LG Lotus because I can't afford full price for a new phone, Sprint would not give me the insurance feature the many times I requested it in my first 30 days, and the cancellation fee is too much right now.
Pros:
Qwerty keyboard
Cons:
Everything else!
ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY...
I have NO cons about this phone at all. I comes with Android, which means that you have a app market bigger then Apples. YES BIGGER.. And, you can customize it totally. its also equipped with a 2 gig memory stick.(thats right outta the box). it lags a little, but not enough too say its a serious issue. Love this phone....
GREAT PHONE
I love this phone. It does drag a little, but price per value its a hit. Android 2.1 (mines a virgin mobile) am hoping for the update, but it offers you all the value of Android at a fraction of the competitions monthly bill. (25.00) the virgin plan.. no cons at all, takes great pictures. very customizable, and comes with 2 gig transflash memory..BUY IT TODAY,MIKE...
Stay away from this phone!
As others have said its very buggy, unresponsive, and slow. Mine crashes a lot launching applications like pandora, or double twist etc. I still can't import my music on it, computer won't reconize the device. The Patch for usb is ONLY for 32Bit OS for Windows XP or Windows Vista. WTF Samsung? I am going to be taking this phone back tommarow first thing its NOT worth the money i wouln't even pay 100 dollars for it. Hardware seems fine, i think its just BIG software glitchs and issues that need to be worked out on it. Until then stay away!
Avoid Like the Plague !
This is the MOST horrible phone I ever used !
Very slow and lagging screen and buttons. Apps start up very slowly. You have to hit the buttons over and over to get them to respond.
Horrible battery life, hardly used it and it could not make it through the day.
This model really needs to be discontinued. The user experience is just not usable or acceptable.
This phone will totally turn you off to Android, but trust me not all Android phones are bad like this brick.
WORST PHONE EVER MADE
Worst phone I have ever owned in my life. Battery lasts about 2 hours max on a good day. That's with normal use and wifi off. This is the 3rd Intercept I have exchanged and they are all terrible. Very slow processor and very unresponsive. Locks up constantly and has to be rebooted. This phone shouldn't even be considered a smart phone or in the category with other droids. It is pretty sad when you have to recharge your phone every 2-3 hours throughout the day just to use it. I have owned seven dollar cell phones that worked better than the Intercept. Also I can't count how many times this phone has just turned itself off in the middle of a call with a full battery. All 3 of my Intercepts have done that, so I know it's a common problem with this phone and not just the one that I own. Sometimes you have to push a button 3 or 4 times before it responds. When you slide or drag the window there is always a delay and it stops constantly. This phone has the worst internal storage and memory around. Even half of the apps from the Droid market malfunction on this phone. On a normal day this phone will freeze up on me anywhere from 5-15 times, to the point that I have to open the back to take the battery out before I can restart. If you go to cnet reviews you will see that over 80% of all the reviews for this phone have one star or less. Samsung should be sued and should be put out of business for passing off a phone as bad as this to the consumer. BUYER BEWARE: If you do buy this phone it only comes with a 30 day warranty and everything will work great until the second month you own it........TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT
Awesome phone for the Price
I've owned this phone for about 2 weeks now and I can honestly say the phone is well worth the money it cost. The screen resolution def has nothing on the other phones but in general thats not what a lot of us who buy this phone are actually looking for anyways. The phone is very responsive in my experience and seems to do quite nicely with connecting and staying connecting to the internet. The speed on the net is not horrible by any means. The Keyboard is nice and only took about an hour or so to actually get use to. I live around other smart phone users and I would go as far as to say that phones begin to bog down when you put stuff on them that has not use at all in your day to day life. I keep the apps I need and a few for fun and I don't touch the rest. If you want to run 20 apps at once and have the thing broadcast your life in mystical holograms, this phone is probably not for you but if you are just getting out into the android market and just want a smartphone that gets you by on day to day interactions, probably not a bad idea to give Intercept a look.
PROs:
Key board is awesome!
Phone has a simple UI
Phone is just the right size and weight
CONs:
Home/Back/Menu/Search Keys are a bit unresponsive.
Loves to un-sync with FaceBook contacts a bit
Love, LOve, LOVE this phone
This is a super cool phone. I found the battery life to be way better than expected. As long as you have the aps killer and kill the aps before the phone goes to sleep, the batter will last at last a day and 1/2. I do charge my every night, just to make sure. I have had a few times where it has froze up on me but nothing to crazy. I don't know what everyone is complaining about, this phone is awesome! The size is perfect, some other smart phones are so large it's like holding a mini computer. This phone is just the right size.
A Better Fit
I had the EVO for two weeks and returned the phone. I felt I really wasn't tapping into it's power and for my needs the HERO and Moment were fine, so why pay extra.
Another 3rd party site gave it a good rating despite the downgrades so I thought I would try it.
I had some lag with each Android phone I've used, including the EVO, I just accept it as part of the territory. I had to strip features off my EVO to get 12 to 16 hours of battery life that I had essentially taken it down to a mid range phone.
3.2 MPS camera is so last year, but it takes good pictures so I can't complain.
REV Evo is a step down, but it more than gets me to where I'm going on the internet.
Screen resolution is a step down but, I like clarity of screen colors better than EVO's.
I feel the design changes (although they initially appear as a downgrade) help to improve batter performance and talk time, this phone is a better fit for my needs.
PRO
Size
