Sanyo = Quality

Great new handset for the Sanyo lineup. Looks sharp especially with changeable face-plates. With the improved speaker-phone, added multi-media capability, rubber grip, 30 second video, and multiple "My Shortcut" option, this handset tops all other previous Sanyo phones. Ready Link works great and nice touch with the optional Ready Link tones.

A few negatives being no upgraded camera from the VM4500, possible dust/dirt problem with the changeable face-plates, and again no blue-tooth.

all i can say is wow

I am under contract, but when I saw this phone I fell in love. Readylink, Speakerphone, Video Camera WITH Sound recording, looks great, it is the whole package deal. My other phone is the Samsung VI660 I got for cheap when I signed up.

Signal: This was a big deal to me. The Sanyo is EVERYTHING that the Samsung falls short of. Dead spots were filled in and I was able to talk clearly with just the tower signal. There are several areas that the Samsung got searching for service, and the Sanyo grabbed and held onto signal for hours.

Camera: The video camera and digital camera are great. Maybe not as high resolution as other cameraphones, but if I wanted relaly high quality pics I would take my Kodak digital camera somewhere. I love how it uses the built in speakerphone to record audio while recording movies.

Internal LCD Screen: The LCD screen has amazing clarity. There are also 3D screen savers like fish swimming.

External LCD Screen: Great, caller ID worked well and a little mouse came out and danced on the screen. Cute. :)

Readylink: The readylink (when the network was not down) worked very well as I was quite pleased.

Multimedia: The multimedia stream was quite excellent, however, it tacks a lot of money onto yor monthly bill. By the time I added readylink, picture and video pack, and multmedia, I was looking at a $20/mo jump in my service bill. Too much for me. :)

Internet: The built in web browser was much better than the one in my Samsung. It was faster and could load pages that my Samsung couldn't.

Overall: I was very impressed with this phone, and I would have kept it had I not run into Readylink network issues and not had REALLY bad experiences with Sprint cust service reps in regards to the Readylink. Its definetely worth $199 w/ a contract. If you need a phone that gets signal well (like if you live in an area with spotty coverage), this is the phone for you. Highly recommended!

One more thing - Get the extended battery - 6 hours of talk time!

Best Phone on the Market from any carrier

I have had many phones over the past few years including the sanyo 5300. This is buy far the most advanced and fastest phone I have ever had or tested. Pictures and data upload as fast as DSL and the voice quality is as good as my landline phone. My former sanyo 5300 would fade or drop calls in my bathrooms ect. But the mm7400 works crystal clear everywhere I have used it so far. All the features are great.

The only con to this phone is that it is not BLUETOOTH. Great job sanyo and sprint.

Please let the next verson of this phone have bluetooth!

Exceeds expectations

I am a musician who records in a studio and am picky about sound. I heard the ringer's sounded good on this phone but I was shocked at how good they sounded when I finally got one. I've been uploading music all day and it is like having a portable radio with you.

PROs:
Great sound on ringers, nice screen, loud ringers, very strong vibrate, easy to use operating system, much faster downloads than the 8100.

Cons: not as rugged as I had hoped, feels lighter than expected (guess this could be a positive.

A great phone!

This phone is great at what it's best at: being a phone!

After having a faulty Motorola MPX220 and a PalmOne Treo 650, I can honestly say that I am happier with this phone because Sanyo has perfected making a phone that works well.

My other 2 Sanyo phones were excellent and this is no different.

This phone does have other great things, too: a good camera and camcorder (better camcorder than Treo 650), probably around the same camera, and it does zip through Vision pretty fast.

Plus it has an excellent speakerphone and voice recorder and people will hear you crystal clear while you speak. I cannot say all those good things about the $600 Treo 650.

If you need a PDA or a handheld computer, then get those things separately. If you want a great cell phone, get the Sanyo MM-7400.

Almost perfect the 5600 will have to be to sway me

Okay here I go again buying another phone...The phone itch got worse and I gave in to it and so far I am glad I did. I love this phone...Background I have used the 5500, 4050, 8200, Treo 600, and Nokia 6225 all this year.

Screen: I loved the 4050 screen no doubt. The 7400's screen is not as good but definately a second of all the phones I used. I have a screensaver I used on the 5500 and it looks so much clearer on the 7400. The outer screen is much better than the Toshiba 4050. Rate 8

Ringer: This phone supports AAC ringers and they sound awesome. I never used the voice ringers because they all sounded distorted to me on all my other phones ...Not anymore my phone is full of voice ringers because they sound loud and clear. Sanyo might have improved the outside speaker because the voice ringers dont sound like they are going to blow up the phone. 9

Earpiece: SUBJECTIVE SUBJECTIVE. I used the 5500, 8200 and 4050 and yes to me the 4050 is clearer...the 4500 has a bassy sound when the person doesnt speak right into their mic...7

Camera: I like the camera better than my 5500 doesnt need as much adjusting but not washed out like the 8200. The 5600 adds a 1.2 mega pixel so that might sway me to it when it is released. 8

Menu: I like the menu. The icons look very un Sanyo. The ability to have customized shortcuts is a good added feature. 8

Others: The alarm clock now has a weekday option. The faceplates makes this phone truly a fashion statement. The ability to customized the outer and main screen with different pictures is a great touch. New voice activation is great no training. Overall a good solid phone that may outlast the 5500 in my phone of choice.

Overall: I love it so far I give it a 8. I might keep this one for a long time. It is a good solid phone. I consider it an upgrade from the 5500 because some of the features scream flagship phone although I know it might not be.

Sanyo does it again!

I've been a Sanyo consumer for quite some time now, and yet again, they have pleased me. I just got this phone yesterday and I love it. 72 chord ringtones, Love it! The voice dialing without training is cool also. I think the Sanyo MM7400 wins over the Samsung A700.The meeting mode is great. Also, when a call comes in, you can ingnore it and it will send it to voicemail automatically. Vision is super fast on it also. 2.8MB memory to download games, screen savers, ringers, and applications. Not to mention, Multimedia.

7400 better than 5600

Jun 4, 2005 by cuttboy

First off I am new to this board but definetly not to phone,s especially sanyo. I work for radioshack, so I sell tons of these phone's. First off the pro's
Great reception, speakerphone, web speed, beautiful screen, i could go on but you get the picture. Con's I dont really have any, I dont complain about a phone's camera/video camera because it's a phone, the camera is for fun. The reason that i'm submitting this review, is my disgust with the 5600 compared to this phone. Sanyo hyped everybody up but when I bought 2 for the amazing low price $100.00 for both(I have connections) I quickly became disappointed with camera/video, now I know your thinking that I said it dont matter but a 1.3 mp should look better than this. MP3 player is pointless, unless you catch the bus or have no job. The speakerphone blows. My point is sanyo made a better phone in the 7400, the failed with 5600.

improved

pros: speakerphone, best java midp2 stats, 72-polyphonic chords, good volume

cons: 16-bit color, VGA camera

bottom-line: I'm tempted to take it back for the Samsung A700 for the 1MP camera and 18-bit color even though I like the look and weight of the Sanyo more. Ignore the camera stats and 16-bit color (18-bit color isn't 24-bit either), the Sanyo MM7400 wins. You might want to wait for the LG MM535 (LX-535) or Sanyo MM5600 (SCP-5600). the toshiba VM4050 (CDM9950SP) is interesting.
