Pantech PG-C300 / C3
Average Ratings
Not as good as I thought.
At first I enjoyed the small size of the phone, how compact it was, and the basic physical means, but started to dislike it.
Although people still come up to me all the time commenting on how cool and small my phone is, it's not even worth it.
Pros
- Small size, attractive.
- Loud ringer volume.
- Bright screen.
Cons
- Calls dropped frequently.
- Battery and service indicators don't show the real information.
- The ear piece volume is typically low.
- Weak build, squeaks when opened.
- Speaker phone can't be turned on until call is answered.
- Randomly turns black, not reliable.
GREAT...BUT...
Okay, I am not giving this phone a full 5.0 for these reasons. The phone worked great. It has everything that any normal phone user would want- speakerphone. Everything else is pretty basic. The speakerphone is hard to activate/deactivate because you have to go through a menu to activate it and it doesn't activate until you are in a call.
After only 5 months of having this phone, it suddenly became slow, and then it wouldn't make calls or do anything. I called Cingular- they said it was the battery. So, it was still under warranty, so I decided to exchange it. Nope, it is discontinued and they don't carry the battery either! UGH! Well, it is a good phone for a basic phone user or even a kid. Very small- fits anywhere. I am getting the Pantech C3b to see how it differs.
Very Good PHONE
This is my second phone(replacing the nokia 6010) and is a very good one. I've had it for 3 months so far. Here are some pros and cons
PROS
-Very Small
-High quality screen
-Okay Camera
-ABSOLUTELY NO DROPPED CALLS!!!
-Great Signal
-Can Use Speakerfone when shut
CONS
-If you are looking for a music or video phone, this isn't the phone for you. It doesn't even connect to the computer.
-3 times so far, the phone wouldn't go to its camera. It would say please wait, I waited, and it wouldn't work. Turning off and turning on the phone will fix this.
-Sometimes the phone will not remember that you have set a picture for a contact.
-The light on the outside has no options to make it stay on or turn off, so it will turn off when you shut the phone. When your do turn it on, it will only stay on for about 10 seconds.
Overall the Pantech C3 does its job well - at being a basic phone.
Cool Phone
The Pantech C3 is a cool phone but has some minor problems.
pros
- small light weight
- great sound when playing music ringtones
- good picture quality
- easy to use
- can take pictures on external display
- has a flash
cons
- when zoomed in all the way picture becomes blury
- if drop to many times camera doesn't work properly
- external display stays on for maybe 2 seconds
- cant adjust ring volume with the side keys
- side keys are to small and are hard to push
Overall the Pantech C3 would be a good phone for your child or beginners
My baby
I love this little phone. Its really compact, the size had me shocked. I have this phone on a billed line (not prepaid) but I ordered it prepaid cause im a sim swapper (advatage of being with cingular) anywhoo. When I recieved this phone the first thing I noticed subside the size was that you could change the faceplate on it and cingular even included a free one (navy).
To my surprise as i went through the phone and surfed through the menu i noticed it was packed with lil customization options and stuff you could do, I adore the fact you can do the lil name banner, on the front ( i thought they stopped doing that with cingular phones). I like the fact that when you open it, it makes a lil bling* noise and the ringers are so bad, i had to purchase one cause i couldnt take pantech and cingulars ringers seriously. The camera is "IIGH" nothin to write home about. anyway down to the pros and cons
PRO
Size, Service is hella good (but that does not have nothing to do with the phone i guess), color screen, speaker, earpeice jack (i HATE bluetooth), very customizable (is that a word?), changeable faceplates.
CON
My long nails always hit that media mall button and it ticks me off big time. I had to re-learn t9 all over again i couldnt find the right button (the one with the vibrate icon on it). not really cons but eh thats it
ALL IN ALL
this phone is sweet go cop it!
I just had to have this one
I thought it was so cute...I got a lot of compliments on it and still do. But I would not recommend this phone to anybody,. It drops calls, says you have like 4 bars but you have limited service and it can not connect you...I dropped it once, and not a very far distance and the camera would not work, if you tried to use the camera, it got hot and burned you... now I can't even change the background with out it burning me.
Pretty happy with this phone
Got this phone after my Sony Ericsson Z500 died on me. It had only been out for a couple of weeks when I got it.
The first one they gave me had a defective microphone, so people on the other end couldn't hear me very well at all. I took it back to the Cingular place and they exchanged it for another with no hassle or trouble at all. The second one was much better.
Overall I'm pretty happy with it, but I'm always wanting a new phone, so I may upgrade again soon.
Pros:
- Tiny: fits easily into my "going out" purses, which are very small, and also fits decently into a jeans pocket.
- Attention: people are always commenting on it and asking to hold it and play with it. If you want a phone that catches the eye, this is it. I call it my "Zoolander phone"
- Reception: no problems or complaints here
- Battery life: once again, no complaints
- Camera: not great, but decent enough...it is a PHONE after all
- Flashlight: also the camera flash, VERY bright
- Calls: very audible and rarely dropped
- Features: I am a college student and I love using the email, AIM, and Facebook features
- Sturdy: I've dropped this phone several times and you can't tell at all. It's small, but tough. Also, no damage from being toted around in a big messy purse or bookbag.
- Rings: loud and easy to hear
- Calendar/organizer: functional and decent
- Voice recorder: I use mine a lot
Cons:
- Buttons: it's a small phone, so the buttons are tiny and text messaging can be difficult
- Camera: no video feature, which I miss from my old phone, also no way to rotate pictures after taking them
- Sounds: only 3 tones to choose from for receiveing voicemail, ringtones that come with phone aren't great
- Layout of keys: the big button in the middle of the direction pad seems like it should be the menu button...I still have trouble with the main menu button being off on one of the side keys
- Speakerphone: TERRIBLE
- Alarm: no snooze button, which I hate
- Not the most user-friendly interface
Pantech PG-C300/C3
I am not a fan of this phone...had lots of returns for reception problems. A typical example: Son has a Nokia and mom bought the C3. Son's phone works indoors at home(GOOD RECEPTION AREA) with very few problems while MOM is on 1 foot out on the front porch trying to find that mystery spot where she can hear and be heard. If you live in the city (more than 20,000 peeps) you are likely to live under a canopy of towers that will allow for a weaker reception phone like this BUT if you live in small town USA like me and sell this phone to one of your loyal customers-they will be back to complain. BUT it is VERY cute and has GREAT colors. Kids love it as well as women on the go. SO instead of canning it we sold it with a very stern warning.
THE C3 WILL NOT WORK EVERYWHERE YOU WANT IT TO WORK. IF YOU STILL CHOOSE TO PURCHASE THIS PHONE FROM US, YOU HAVE MADE AN IMFORMED DECISION.
Happy sales people (clear conscience)and informed customers.
How much peace of mind do you have though if the salesperson is really honest with you about the reception of a phone (it stinks, comparatively) that you choose to purchase for you newly driving teenager or aging parent/grandparent??!!
As a mom of 9 with 2 teenage boys driving (heart-attack) you will ALWAYS find my boys carrying Nokias. They rank out on Cingular service as the strongest reception phone. They can't tell me they couldn't make a call :-)
Phone Dies
My work requires that I carry a reliable piece of communications device that can be paged. I thought this was it because it's small and has decent features.
Unfortunately it *DIES* when I least expect it to. No rhyme nor reason. It just dies in spite of a full charge. Only way to revive it is to take the battery out and re-install.
Phone has not been dropped nor abused in any way.
i love it..... 1
First off; i want to start by telling all of the people below me that it is not the PHONE that is droping your calls, it's your service area.
But anyways:
I would rate this phone 9 out of 10.
my mom and i were researching cell phones from cingular for about a month due to the new plan we were getting. as soon as i saw this phone on the comercail about 4 months back; i wanted it. bad.
i had the option of getting any phone i wanted; but nothing was like this little, compact gadget.
the phone was $30 with the 2-year agreement at Best Buy. A pretty fair price for all of its fuctions.
this phone is deffinitly an eye catcher. when i left Best Buy, people in the mall were just looking at my ear and saying WOW, DO YOU SEE HER PHONE?
it was hallarious.
at first; i must admit, it was kind of confusing to use, but after about 20 minutes of screwing around with it; i got the hang of it.
i do not recomend this phone to anyone who has fat fingers or REALLY big hands. this phone is only about 4 inches WHEN OPENED, but i'm not complainig.
for me; the size is great. i have tiny hands and pretty slim fingers so it's pretty good. at first; i kept hitting the wrong buttons but everything needs practice.
an no need to worry about people hearing you on the other line because of the size of the phone; the people i have asked say that they hear me cleary but i'm just loud. not a problem though.
