E815 incar hardwire and bluetooth
This is the 3rd moto I've owned, first was a flip phone with ATT when I worked for lucent, second was a startac7868 and now this one. Loved the startac but the hinges finally gave up and superglue just would not hold it together anymore. I've had LG phones and my family plan has two samsungs, we've had problems with them regarding battery life, lcd diplays breaking and durability. I spend alot of time crawling around communications racks hooking up servers, routers, etc. The camera phone works well for me and allows me to photographically document work I have done and cable layouts for future reference. At the time I picked it up I also picked up the HS850 blue tooth ear set, it works great but the charge on the HS only lasts about 4 hours hanging in my ear. I installed a Vehicle Specific Mount in my Jeep in 99 which is a specific designed bracket that leaves no damage and is for mounting a hangup cup, in my case right next to the radio on the dash. I had a non powered one for the startac and used it constantly with the wired jabra and the car charger plugged in, I used to damage them with either the shifter or pull them out so the bluetooth is a life saver and at the rate I was going thru the wired jabra's the HS850 will pay for itself in about 6 months. I also purchased the hardwired car kit and hangup cup, powered this time, that uses an external antenna and speaker so I don't have to run down the bluetooth ear piece. I ordered both the cup and hardwire kit from verizons web site after the local verizon store in Whitehall Pa would not sell me one with out charging me a $147 installation fee even though I was installing it myself. So be aware that some of the verizon stores might try to pull that on you. The antenna is available thru canyon river or Criterion cellular because the antenna, antenna specialties pn APDM928M mini-uhf connector, is not included in the kit and that same verizon store refused to sell the antenna seperately.
TOP OF THE LINE
I had the LG8100 for a few weeks which i found to be in a much lower class as the E815. Every feature of the Moto is much better than the 8100
iam impressed :)
its a nice upgrade to the v710, has alot of nice features, more than its brother!! the only thing i dont like is the front screen not being 65,000, but i can live with the 4096 colors i guess!! also i wish the time could be smaller so the wallpaper on the front could be seen!! but iam just being picky!! reception FANTASTIC! looks FANTASTIC! overall FANTASTIC!! you can go wrong with the price on this, so if your going to get a new phone get this one! its better than the new LG VX8100, BUT THE BEST VERIZON HAS RIGHT NOW IS THE LG VX8000!! but i love motorola!!!
Former 8100 owner.
I am happy finally:
Verizon, lg vx 7000 no problems wanted a razor though.
cingular razor, took it back
cingular sony, took it back.
back to verizon, happy
vx 8100, great phone need attention though volume issue was too much for me.
Reluctantly traded for the E815.
Totally happy here.
this is why
Pros:
Great reception and call quality, best ever.
Great screen
Great skins
Great volume
Great keypad. The design of the 8100 made my big fingers het those corners while playing pac-man. can't have it.
Great speakerphone and bluetooth (for calls)
Ok ringers.
Battery life is fine.
Easier to navigate than I thought.
Pretty solid phone, though at first I thought the 8100 was better. I am now a fan of this phone and Moto has won me back since my good ole v60. 4 years ago.
Mine does not squeek like the one in the store did when you opened it up. hehe.
cons:
Same moto charging port, hopefully won't act up this time.
Cannot delete lame pics it came with.
Best Moto...prehaps best phone on Verizon currently.

~IN LOVE~
i'm truly in love with this phone, it gives me everything i want in a phone and more. Have found no cons, some may say bluetooth is a con bcuz it's unable for the glitches, But we use bluetooth for wireless headset NOT FOR GLITCHES. So basicly i HIGHLY SUGGEST this phone to anyone. It'z a perfect match for me... i'm nothin witout it now..and it'z the best phone i've ever had..and trust me i've had many !!
~So0o wat are you still doin here... go get it :) ~
Had the 8100, thank goodness I returned it for the 815
I bought an 8100 because it was so flashy and had been hyped for months as the phone of phones. After buying it and having two days of aggrevation due to lousy call quality at both ends, I bought the 815; what a great choice. The short and simple of it is that the E815 does everything that its supposed to do and it does it very well. The speaker phone is great and loud, people can clearly hear me when I talk and I can hear them clearly, menus are easy to use (I hardly had to look at the instruction booklet), camera and video work well, voice recognition is amazingly accurate and fast (much better than the 8100). I know many of you will fall for the fancy look and hype of the 8100 and buy it because of that. Go ahead but expect to be back in the store within the 15 days grace period trading it in for the 815.
PROS: Speaker phone loud and clear at both ends of the conversation, menus work quick and easy, battery life seems excellent so far, easy to use and decent quality camera and video, clear bright displays even in sunlight, voice commands and digit dial are fast and accurateso its a great phone for in car use.
CONS: Circular selector ring around OK button is too small and thus challenging to use, flash on camera doesn't ever go off even in dimly lit rooms (but the photos come out fine anyway!), side buttons are too small and are hard to locate quickly and have too little travel distance to know when you have actually pressed them, the name confirmation voice in the voice dialing system is a little hard to understand (the LG lady is batter at this!!!). Not much else to complain about.
Great Reception -
Great phone - I returned my LG vx-8100 for it and am glad I did.
Pro's
Excellent Reception * * * *
Speakerphone loud & clear (no feedback)
Can close handset & still use speaker-phone
Very good sound quality
Con's
Very cheap build quality
Camera could be better (ex. V635 l.23 mp is alot better than this camera)
Same old charging port (no problems yet)
My 8100 had feedback when I used the speaker-phone or bluetooth headset. It also had major volume issues. Volume would fluctuate low than high. Most calls people complained to me they couldn't hear me. The reception was much lower than the Moto. I don't experience any feedback with the Moto speaker-phone. Sound on earpiece & speakerphone is nice & loud.
I recommend this phone to anyone who values reception first. It has lots of nice features too.
