Phone is Great, Verizon Sucks
This phone is amazing. I have never had a phone with such great signal strength and so many fun features. The only problem I have with the phone itself (as issued by Motorola) is that you cannot adjust the contrast on the outer display. Everything else is wonderful, especially the bluetooth headset. Where my problems lie is that Verizon disabled many of the features of the phone. You cannot utilize bluetooth to the fullest of its ability. Actually the only bluetooth functions that have not been cut out of the phone by Verizon is the headset feature. Also, in another wonderful Verizon decision, they have crippled the functions of the transflash expansion feature. You cannot store pictures or video to a transflash card and load them to your computer that way either (which you should not need to do anyway if Verizon would not have crippled bluetooth). Another Verizon move to ensure that they keep making their $0.25 per picture and $0.50 per video that you actually want to keep.
Overall, I love the phone. The real problems are not with the phone, they are with the carrier. Verizon feels that they should keep certain features from their customers ("for the customer's safety," which is a load of crap) that other carriers have no problem allowing their customers to utilize.
I love the phone and would recommend it to anyone. Even with the crippled capabilities, it is still the best phone that Verizon offers. Let's just hope that Verizon wakes up and enables all of the features eventually.
Wish i had bought the lg 7000 instead!!
this phone is by far the most expensive phone sold by verizon with the least working features.First and foremost the camera is useless and never even think of using it indoors. Second of all, the bluetooth is completely useless, unless your only use for it is the headset. But the biggest flaw is definitely the keypad/structure of the phone, new doesn't always mean better. Thats the case with this phone. I'm a pretty intuitive guy, when it comes to cell phones at least, and this keypad/menu is the hardest to use. Horrible job, Motorola. Goodbye V710, hello LG 7000.
V710 on ALLTEL
ALLTEL is releasing this phone later in the month with complete bluetooth. NO limitations. Alltel cares about their customers, eventhough their selection of phones isn't exactly up to par.
I Expected A Bit More...
Pros: nice looking phone, nice size,GREAT reception, good pics ONLY outdoors
Cons: VERY low volume (and no, I am NOT going deaf!), very few options of ringtones, (kinda make you go and download some),cant change outside display,when pic caller id, cant see the pic to well,too small, indoor camera BAD.

I've returned the phone after I checked the phone out for 7 days. I bought it on Aug-11 and retunred it after 7 days cause I was so disappointed about Moto.

Camera quality SUCKS (LG VX7000's camera was better, even it's not megapixel camera phone)

I know a lot of people who want to return this phone and get LG VX7000. it's better phone and LG phones are cool
happy,but.....
I received the 710 last week and for the most part I am very with it.I am having a problem in that when I am on the web the phone just shuts down and within a few seconds comes back on saying no service for about 20 seconds.The first phone(radio Shack was kind enough to exchange it for me)did this constantly.I also turned it on one morning and my picture on the main screen was gone.The second one is also turning off but not as often as the first.The camera in this one is actually tilted so you have to hold the phone so it's at the one and seven position instead of 12 and 6.the quality assurance kinda bothers me,considering the money spent.Anybody else experienve these problems?I'm going to wait to exchange it again until all the bugs are worked out.Other then that,its a good phone.

LG VS MOTO
I had BOTH phones the vx7000 and now i have the new 710 here is the a real good head to head comparison!
Color: The LG will murder the 710 colors not even a question! akthough the 710 is still great but im tellin you the lg is just like hdtv crystal clear pic
Screen Size: TIE
Menus:The LG will also kill this in the moto( really it just looks like lg took more time to make then moto did)
Style: (oponion) when it comes down to it The 710 will just kill the lg i mean honestly i think this is the sexiest phone to come out in history
Outside color screen: color wise about the same but when it comes to size the 710 wins this feature over the lg! ohh and also on the lg u can change the bg and it can also be seperate from wat ur bg is inside but the 710 u can change the bg at all and the only way it becomes any differant is if you change the color theme
CAMERA: Listen on the lg there is an option that is unbelivable wich is night mode ppl use this mode in dark areas or indoors and it will give u perfect pic now the 710 using the cam indoors is a joke but honesty outdoors its unreal pretty good quality
Video Camera: Ok first of all both not such good qaulity after all ther both just phones so id say this one goes to the 710 b/c it can record up to 3 min where as the lg can only record up to 15 secs
Ear Piece: Definetly the LG crystal clear and ur ear can really be free, where as on the moto is really has to be centerd at all times inorder to hear good
keypad:i dunno i like both agian in style moto wins again but when it comes to conveincy and comfort id have to say the lg
Banners:ST8 UP lg has them and the 710 dont got it at all!
conclusion: over all id have to conclude that the lg is alot better is just seems the lg really worked harder cuzz the phone is better qaulity but it is know where near the moto 710's flashy and sexy style i mean its phone when ppl see right away its a wow its like love at first sight!
Motorola, when will they start to actually make use of a brain when designing?
I was not sure whether or not to give this phone an entire point in my rating...Ok, well to start off I have verizon for my carrier (eh)
Let's begin with the CONS of the phone, since we'll save the best (if anything) for last, with the PROS....
CONS:
-(as far as i know) CANNOT CHANGE EXTERNAL SCREEN'S WALLPAPER, JUST THE COLOR, MOTOROLA TOLD ME NOW, AFTER I CALLED THEM, THEN THEY TOLD ME TO CALL VERIZON, THEN BACK TO THEM, AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S NOT EVEN POSSIBLE.
-NO ZOOM OPTION FOR SIZE OF TEXT, ETC. (may be verizon's dumb choice)
-GRAPHICS ON INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL SCREEN ARE HORRIBLE. LOOKS LIKE A BAD WEBSITE'S GRAPHIC DESIGN WITH A WHILTE BORDER BEHIND IT.
-THE CAMERA- IF I WANTED A CAMERA, I WOULD BUY A CAMERA. VERIZON/MOTO FORGOT HOW MY PARENTS AND MANY PEOPLE USED TO LIVE WITHOUT A CAMERA PHONE, OR WORSE YET, WITHOUT A CELL PHONE! just for the record, the camera sucks too.
-FOR THE LARGER SIZE OF THE PHONE, THE STUPID PHONE ONLY SHOWS 3 CONTACTS...THE CONTACTS ARE SPREAD OUT SO WIDE ONLY 3 SHOW UP AT A TIME WHICH IS REALLY STUPID...I THINK I WILL SWITCH TO A STAR TAC OR A V60 AGAIN BECAUSE IT HAS WHAT IT NEEDS TO WORK, AND NO OTHER BELLS AND WHISTLES.

Great phone but the numbers are very light and make it hard to see. As for the bluetooth.....well do not go through Motorola or Handango for the software to make it work. Here's what I recently sent them.
I do not recommend getting any software from Handango even if you go through Motorola. I got my v710 phone for the bluetooth capability and Motorola and Handango recommended the moble phone tool kit for that purpose...they fail to mention that the kit will not work with bluetooth right now because SOMETIME this year they will have a update so it'll work. I tried the refund method on net and I tried calling them.( a few times)...no returned calls and their emails just tells me to do what I already have done. To me it is fraud and or extreme public relations on their part. They should inform what works and do not work before anyone purchase their product and should send refunds promptly when it is their fault.
So everyone at phonescoop...take the advise or not.
