Cool & Compact But Microphone Is Inferior
Hmm. This little phone caught my attention because it is small enough to drop in a pocket and packed with really cool features. It is really just what I need except the microphone quality stinks. If the phone is not positioned just perfectly in front of your mouth, your receiving party can't hear you. I left a message on someone's voicemail to hear what it sounded like. I was disappointed that in amongst the other clear messages was my muffled-sounding message. I was thinking that my unit might just be bad, but then I read other reviews on this site and it appears that the microphone problem is common for the unit. I think it would be worth it to try another phone until Samsung gets this worked out.
This phone sucks
The best thing about this phone is it's size. I love the size of it. Nice and sleek. But that's about the only good thing about this phone. The features are horrid. You'd think for a phone this price you'd have more options.
Pros - weight, height?, ringtones (maybe)
Cons - it drops calls, it drops calls, it drops calls, the mic is horrible (makes you sound like you're in a tunnel), if you review the calendar too much the phone mixes up the dates then it goes locks up for a while, and sometimes the network just goes out. I thought it was just my phone, so I went to Cingular and they gave me a new one. It did the same thing. And I have talked with people from different companies and they have the same problem with this phone. However I bought my mom the LG4050 and it is WONDERFUL. I'm changing soon and very soon.
Not Good Enough!!!
I have not had a problem at all with the microphone...but this is my honest to goodness fourth(4th.) s307 phone! I have had problems with it turning it self off, battery life is horrible compared to my Sprint Samsung VGA1000.(The Best phone I have ever had!!) I have had 14 phones in five years through 4 carriers...and this is the third worst I have ever had...Get a different phone if you have to return more than once...save yourself the time and trouble!! I am very phone savy and have had a lot of good phones and I am particular to Samsung phones, but this one stinks!!!!

i will agree with everything said by the other user's on this phone. the s307/ s300 is a neat phone for its size. i would have liked to see samsung come to reallity. the phone need's to be user friendly. i like to customize all the setting's, which you can only change how you look at the sub-menu's. (like ms-windows sceen's).
cingular is the culprit on why the customer doesnt get all the goodie's that samsung offer's with the s300. why? i dont know, nor do i care. for about $40 dollars more go for the s300 to get the extra battery, headset, gprs connectivity cables and software. not to mention you can then choose another carrier if your not happy with cingular, and still use the s300.
if anyone from samsung reads this. step up to the plate and offer these simple software add on's, along with BLUETOOTH too. PS. WHAT IS UP WITH THE SAMSUNG D-700? RELEASE IT FOR PETE SAKES!!!!!
