Best phone I've ever had...
Had this phone for a few months, so i've had enough time to give this phone a through review.
Pros:
-VZW Network, I may not have more bars in more locations, however, all my calls and data proform the same, hardly a lost call and DSL or better speed on data.
-Email support is great, you just have to know how to do it.
-Bluetooth, Finally, VZW unleased Bluetooth to its max potential. I use a pair of Sony DR-BT22 headphones and everything works great, A2DP and AVRCP. I cant use regular headphones anymore.
-SDHC support. up to 32GB mem cards. I use a 512MB card, but i had a 6GB MicroSDHC card and it worked flawlessly.
-Multi-task: I can surf the web, listen to music and text at the same time... beautiful.
-Moto Personalize My Q, the best tool for smartphone ever.
-Massive 3rd Party Library.
So-so:
-I dont use the media player screen, its too cumbersome. not a huge fad of everything being red.
-If you run too many programs, it kills the highest mem aplication not is use, this leads to a constant playlist reload in WMP or a back-to-homepage in IE
-Red, Green or Grey Themes, had to make my own for other colors. (somewhat easy if you know XML)
-Battery life leaves a little to desire. W/ an extended battery and all 3 of my email accounts every 15mins, I get almost 24 hrs of use. that includes web browsing and MP3 playback for a good solid 8-12 hrs. Dont haveta plug it in at work anymore, but have to plug it in every night.
Cons:
-Laggy
-Camera is a joke
-WM6 and Active Sync dont have a backup function anymore. I had to hard-reset my phone after installing PocketMSN, lost a few programs and documents, but nothing important.
-No MSN/Hotmail support, unless you install PocketMSN, see above.
-Extended battery a must.
All around, if you're like me and use your phone in a corporate email environment, enjoy one-handed use, text message constantly, Like browsing the web at high speed anywhere and cant live w/o your MP3 player, get this phone.
Very good Smart Phone
This Smart Phone it is very good.
I dont know way the remove the msn Messenger.
The New Windows ^ it is very Stable.
Reception in this phone it is not as good as the first motorola Q.
The updates in this phone are ok but they need to ad WiFi to the next model.
The Battery its ok
Very decent Smartphone
I upgraded from my Motorola E815 and retired my Palm Zire 72s. Phone's size does not bother me because the E815 and Palm were bigger compared to the Q9m.
I almost got the Blackberry 8830 but I actually do use the camera on my cell phone.
Pros:
-Slimmer than my Palm PDA
-Can sync with my Exchange server
-Windows Mobile 6 has been stable
-3rd party software
-Stylish
-Full QWERTY keyboard
-Can expand memory with miniSD (I'm actually using microSD with miniSD adapter)
Cons:
-Verizon's expensive data plans
-No built-in WiFi
-Sometimes when playing music and phone goes to lock mode, can't unlock the phone and requires a power cycle
-power up cycle is a bit long
a nice little smart phone
I have had the phone about a week now and I am quite pleased. I have had two bb before so this is not my first experience with a smart phone/pda.
pros-
price- it's less than a razr2!!!
web- it navigates to nearly any site that I want!! I have only had a problem getting sirius radio(i coudnt)but I found a site to help me listen to xm!
keyboard- I'm typing on it now and I make less mistakes than I do on my laptop.
scheduling- mainly got this for keeping myself organized and so far its doing just that.
speaker- it's loud and the speaker phone is awesome
cons-
I really wish the center d pad key was more pronounced, I sometimes hit the up key when I want the center button
I could not configure my hotmail account on this, however I got a gmail account and it could not have been easier.
the alt key. I hate it I don't know what happens I know one hit is temporary symbol and two is symbol on but I seem to hold more than I want.
I think they could have made the overall use of it easier. I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to turn up the alarm volume. it seems that this would be in the alarm section but its not and it wasn't in the sound section either. if you are not patient you may not like this or for that matter any pda/smartphone.
overall--very pleased, I think this phone is making my life easier and slowly but surely I am learning where everything is on it.
ps I wrote this review on it.
Love it!!
Canât cannot stop smiling about my new Q 9m!!
I had a silver Moto Q last time around and was happy with it, not overly in love with it. But with this Q, all I can say is I was smiling when I fist opened it, and cannot stop smiling.
Pros
Great Music interface, when you sync it with Media Player 11 it allows you to drop you files in it smoothly
No messing around w/ the windows media player has made my life easier
The predictive txt is great
Keyboard is smooth
I like the back, feels kinda rubbery so it doesnât slide out of your hands
Cons
Operating system a bit sluggish still
NO CASE!!!
If youâre obsessive compulsive this phone is bad!! Youâll be cleaning the front all day long
Other than That I love my phone, there could be some improvements w/ the speed, but hey it works
Q9M Short Review
I've had the Q9m (Verizon) for two days now. I am very impressed with all of it's features.
1. Build Quality excellent!
2. I've had all the Treo Models & many of the Blackberry's (including 8830) and this device is probably the best "all around" device I've had.
3. The music functions are very good
4. Texting & Email works VERY well.
5. I am a heavy business user with 30+ emails per day & was very impressed with the Win Moble 6 mail interface.
6. Keyboard, IMHO, is better than any Blackberry or Treo model that I have used (extensively).
GREAT PHONE
I just got the phone yesterday after having almost every blackberry ever made and every different Q that has been out in the past 15 months since the unavailing of the Q.
This phone is by far the best. It actually does a good job of finding my contacts easily and does a better job assisting me in typing emails and text messages then the original or black Q.
Pros:
More stable OS Win Mobile 6.0
Longer lasting battery
Clearer sound quality
Easier to use keyboard
Much better camera
Only $20 more then the Black Q
Cons:
Conflicts with my cars built in bluetooth. Worked great first day now wont connect call even though it shows connected to car and handset
No accessories... but the phone is not supposed to be available till Friday.
I would suggest this phone to anyone wanting a SIMPLE PDA phone vs the more complex other options. If all you want is to operate Outlook mobile and use the phone then this is your phone.
works like blondes
my brief phone history: samsung d500, moto Q. razr. razr2,
BB 8130, BB pearl(cingular), Nokia E65, N91i, N95. iPhone,
BlackJack.
Pro.
1.Great qwerty keypad. compare to iPhone's fancy touch screen, your fingers will fly on this keypad.
2.Great speaker phone. i will say N95 > Q9m >Blackjack
iPhone is not a match for any of these.
3.Faster OS(slightly). however, it is much much slower than
iphone and N95.
that's all about it.
Con.
1.Unstable OS. come on window, you guys put your foot on this business much earlier than any other company. you should know and do better than this.
2.No push email. iPhone doesn't have it either. however, setting your email account on Q9m is very frustrating job.
3.no mac support. unless you pay another 30 bucks for 3rd app.
4.So-so reception. it always prefers less bars.
conclusion..
try your best to get away from any window product.
it just crashes.
Good Stuff
I received it the first day it came out and I have not found anything I can really criticize yet. It looks good, Mobile 6.0 seems to be running smooth, the screen is ALOT better, camera quality seems to be a little better, Wi-Fi capabilities with the SDIO card slot, very very nice keypad, sound quality is very crisp and clear, and yes the battery seems to hold a charge a bit longer than the original.
Pros:
-It's Sexy ;-)
-Mobile 6.0
-Great Keypad
-Smart Screen (changes with light... Good in sunlight!)
-Mini SDIO Expansion Slot
-Good Sound Quality
Cons:
-Still a bit of the lag as the old Q had
-No integrated Wi-Fi
thats about it folks!
DO NOT BUY!!!
The only good thing that I can really say about this phone is that it has a good screen. At least with the Sprint model anyways the phone is JUNK. It freezes constantly and the only way to get it working is to pull the battery out. In addition to freezes the keyboard is terrible and the internet is slow. I would suggest spending a little more on a Treo if you are looking for a good smartphone.
