another version of this crap?

Sep 21, 2004 by hirschnet

honestly, this phone might look cool, but it performs terribly. how often does it restart or shut down or have some error like and old PC!? well, every week. it's sad. even my new phone with it's new software cannot work 100%. yes it crashes and it resets often, but it has other problems. it does not have instant email like the treo, which is a HUGE disadvantage. the only positive is the flip and the writing capabilities. i lose everything when it resets so why bother even installing software on the phone. it's a waste because i would have to reinstall it everytime the freeking phone resets!!!

so does anybody know when they are coming out with a newer version? with new hardware and software?? maybe with bluetooth?? is there an updated model on its way??!! i am hoping so and hope to see the improvements ASAP! these guys made many mistakes and have obviously paid the price. almost everybody i know in NYC hates this phone.

Simply the best Converged Device

I absolutely love this phone! I have had it for a few months now and have upgraded the firmware and it has been a GREAT phone! The Palm functions are great.. had the 6035 for long time and it was good.. this is SO much better!

Wish they would start selling them again.. excited to see such a cool device available.

the phone's great; verizon's the problem

i waited for months for this phone, and after confirming through both kyocera and verizon that it was dual NAM, i placed the order. upon arrival, verizon no longer supports it being dual NAM, although i kyocera confirms that they have the software to enable the second NAM. much as i loved the phone, after only one week's use, i sent it back to verizon!

Day 2

Dec 29, 2002 by Palm Saam

I use the 7135 with Verizon in LA.

It's tough to call the 7135 a phone Great features, well designed, well built. Its pros seem obvious, so I will focus on cons.

I use Mac OSX. The phone surprisingly comes with both PC and MAC palm sftwr made for the 7135. However, the MP3 sync sftwr and PhotoSuite were not included on the CD for MAC, even though at least PhotoSuite is available for the MAC OS. The first HotSync took over 10 mins. After that, syncs were quick, even using IR.

The major design problem with the 7135 is that it's REALLY THICK! I would have preferred a slightly wider but thinner phone. Forget about putting it in dress pant pockets. Jeans work. I know this sounds funny but it's hard to aim the speaker at your ear. Off by a few mm and you can't hear. The rubber caps on the headset jack make it a pain to use.

Friends report "unbelievable clarity" when I use this phone. Signal is weaker than my old TimePort.

The screen is bright and beautiful. I use JOT so that I can sketch graffiti on the main screen. Talk and standby times claimed by Kyocera are only possible if you are vigilant about backlight use. Otherwise it just GOBBLES power.

Voice commands and Speed Dial work great. Network settings have been difficult. Verizon doesn't "support" the phone and I have been unable to connect to the web after many tries. Text msg. work fine.

The phone uses a proprietary sound format, not the palm's format. It seems every sound in the phone an MP3 sample. So the phone alerts can be songs, your voice, or whatever you convert to MP3. Downside is you can't use current video players, you get no audio. I used Kinoma- wigs folks out to see video on a phone.

Some of the phone's very beautiful rings are hard to hear, even in my pocket. The ringer selector prefs are tough to get to. No easy way to assign rings to individuals, only Palm Categories.

Going to NYC next week, that will be the test. Have yet to wear dress pants!

I am a Happy owner of a 7135 for about three months now. This handset far exceeds any hand held unit out their.
Pro:
In order to view videos thru Kinoma you first go to phone preference(flip settings). When opening the flip do not chk the boxes:Play sound select Dolphins, closing the flip chk no sound. Know select the movie in kinoma select
backwards or rewind button by the pause on movie display. Now close and open the flip press play and you will hear the volume. I purchased the phone from Kyocera partner Getconnected.com thru kyocera web site. Enjoy

Best device ever. I had a problem at first, then I received the replacement from Kyocera that works great. All the features work well. Reception is very good, I travel a lot. The only negative of 7135 is that it is large and it weighs a lot. Thank you very much,
Tom

this cell phone is the pinnacle of any cell phone I have owned. This is what a cell phone be. I have owned many models, but this cell phone has wowed me. My service is through Verizon Wireless and having the option of using 3 different browsers, WAP, Euradora, or EIS (for graphics). Using quick 2 net service for the EIS has been fast and efficient. The PDA applications are easy to master. The speaker phone is clear and the range is excellent. The only flaw is the voice activated dialing. You may have to give your contacts voice tag more than once, but it may depend on how you stored it. Yet over all I think I have a cell phone I would keep for quite sometime.

This is phone is unbelievable. It's so awsome. My Dad has this phone and he says I really like it. One of the things he likes about the phone is that it is in color and most of the kyocera phones are not in color. I wish i really had this phone. It's really small so it can fit in your pocket. My Dad always checks the ratings before he buys any phone. He has one of the older models. If you have anymore comments you can contact me at bigblake20033@aol.com

Kyocera 7135 - Problems I Had

Sep 8, 2003 by L Isen

The Pros: Compact and intuitive. Runs on Palm software.

The Cons: Twelve days ago, I purchased a Kyocera 7135. It didn't work properly so, after hours of unsuccessfully trying to work through various problems with Verizon (my carrier) and Kyocera, I exchanged the phone for another. I am now on my 4th Kyocera 7135 and am about to return it for good. Problems that I encountered include: The screen goes black while using applications; The system freezes and sometimes resets itself (once loosing all of my data); The phone does not recognize the port that the cradle is plugged into; The phone does not function properly when hooked up to a PC with Quicken (I did not have this problem, but was informed of it by a Verizon rep) and the phone shuts off during telephone calls. You may not have these problems, but I encountered most of them in each of the phones I had.
