Supreme Being over the Panasonic
I think the Phone has some great features with the 16x zoom mode. The quality of the digital picture is excellent. I love the features the phone has to offer. It makes the Panasonic GU-87, look like a knock-off. It has the greatest reception and quality of service. One thing I was disapointed about the phone was that when you are in the camera mode, Incoming calls are not excepted. I love the phone except for that feature.
Horrible
I think that this phone is a disgrace. I had it for a few days and was forced to return it due to Sprints horrible network. But my friend took some pictures for me at my cousin's wedding and the pictures looked horrible when they were emailed. I expected much better from such a hyped up phone. Don't get it...get the VZW LG VX 6000.
Da Greatest!
I have had many sprint p hones in my day and this one by far is the greatest when it comes to reception! One downfall for this phone is the batery life on this sucker...the talk time on this phone is not the greatest. I like the style and size of the phone. The camera and falsh on this phone is awesome! All you 8100 lovers stand back because, in my opinion, the camera on this phone is a lot more clear than the 8100. The Sanyo 5300 is now at a reasonable price. Go out there and get yourself one...you will not regret it. Oh yeah, an extended battery comes with it...so that takes care of the battery problem!
New uses everyday !
I purchased the sanyo 5300 after my 3 year love hate relationship with its grandfather the sanyo 4000 (yeah...remember him). Everyday with my new phone brings joy and happiness in my life...really it does...
The capabilities of this phone are extraordinary. here is what I think of them:
CAMERA: To be honest i dont even use the camera that much. Its good, and i like that i can take pics and e-mail them "on the fly". Its pretty fussy, sometimes it takes great pics and sometimes they are worthless. I guess it takes some perfecting. Its good for "ooohh and ahhhh'ing" your friends tho.
WIRELESS WEB: At first i had no idea what to do on the wireless web. After hunting around on yahoo i found a listing of many many websites that are assesible on your handset. There are TONS of websites that have FREE downloads (ringers, screensavers, apps, for the phone. Dont bother DL'ing them from sprint. Overall, the download speeds are OK, and resemble dial up connections. I would also suggest getting 1KTV from sprint. Its like a streaming news service with picture and audio. Again, good for ooohh'ing and ahhhh'ing your friends.
The only bad things about this phone are the volume of the ringers, and the ear-piece. Yeah yeah yeah, there is a software update, but it corrects it only to a degree. Then again, maybe im going def....who knows ? The menu interface isnt as cool as some of the other phones out there.
This is a great phone. Chicks dig it, and guys want it. Pony up the cash and grab one ASAP ! YA HERD>!>>?
Decent camera, bad web browser, OK phone
I've had the 5300 for about a month now and played with most of the functionality.
On the plus side: The camera is better than I was expecting. The pictures are recognizable, and the color is OK in well lit situations. Having a camera always with me has been very enjoyable. Also on the plus side, the colors on the screen are very good and the Java engine seems to be quite reliable. I know it's gimmicky, but I get a kick out of seeing the person who is calling me appear on the screen.
On the neutral side: Once I found a way to upload midi files without having to pay Sprint (www.sprintusers.com/focus) I've been enjoying trying different ringers. Unfortunately, the sound quality is pretty mediocre, reminiscent of a early 1980's sound-blaster FM rendering. Still, the notes are recognizable, put it's hard to tell a piano from a clarinet from a electric guitar. The speech recordings are very good though. Navigating through the phones menus is not very intuitive, but there is a certain logic to it once you get used to it. Could have been designed better.
On the down side: The Netfront browser is terrible. It is slow, painful to use, and buggy. It is constantly running out of memory and gets confused by tags it does not support (which it should be ignoring). And, since memory is so tight, when ignoring tags, it should discard them rather than have them take up memory. Javascript is not supported, yet when it sees Javascript in the pages it displays the script rather than ignoring it.
On the annoying side: Here in the Washington D.C. area, the data transfer rates are pretty good. A 60K midi download takes place in about 3 seconds once the transfer starts. It often takes 60 or more seconds to get a connection established through Sprint's Vision network. And the network is "unavailable" multiple times a day. I hope it will improve as more people sign up.
THis phone is King of all camera phones
Camera Phone, with flash, zoom lenses....I love it . I bought the phone from sprint last week. $399.99 for the phone, i waned the 8100 but they were sold out, instead i bought this phone on sale for $150.00 with all the bells and whistles. The only feature i did not get was sending voice messages with the pics...Who cares i will be buying the Samsung 6000 when its released. This phone is great.
Awesome Phone - UI Weak
The phone is awesome, a bit expensive though. The user interface is a little weak. The new Nokia 3650 has an awesome interface as does the T68i. Why does it seem the CDMA phones lack when it comes to user interface?
Cool but Could be Better
When I heard that a phone was comming out that had a camera built in, I was all up in arms about getting it, but now that I've got it I kind of wish Samsung would come out with one instead. Having owned an A500 and working in retail selling these beasts has made me re-think my decision. First of all, the camera is great, nuff said. The screen rocks, again nuff said. As for the browser...works sometime but not others, especially when in the Jumbuck chat room. Constant Timeouts and lagtimes are a huge downer for the phone. Going to websites themselves isn't THAT bad, but if you wanna chat, forget about it. Go find someone with an a500 and use theirs. The A500 may lock up on occasion, but at least when it works it works. It doesn't look like its going to work and then give you some timeout error. Also, uploading pictures seems to be an issue as well. Sometimes the phone will send one or two and then quit, other times it will take 3 minutes to send 10 of them. Its too much of a hassle and it kind of hurts the coolness factor of them camera. Last thing, the earpiece. I know everyone is tired of hearing it sucks, but guess what. It sucks. When I heard about the software upgrade for it, I decided to go and have it done at the Sprint Store (which I don't recommend you go to because they're impossible to get ahold of over the phone, and when you get in the store and try to deal with them you feel like maybe that was a sign you should waste your time with them.) When I asked the employee who worked there about the upgrade he simply told me that he tried it, it didn't work, and then refused to try it on my phone....or tell me if there was a way to do it myself for that matter. But I digress.....what it really comes down to with this phone is this. When the phones working as it should...its awesome, when its not working as it should....its junk. *steps off of soapbox*
