Motorola KRZR K1m
Average Ratings
Complete disappointment (Sprint model)
When Sprint finally decided to come out with a decent handset lineup, I was ecstatic. I have had a Sanyo, which was fine, but 7 years of it...time for a break.
I purchased the KRZR K1M. I have only one good thing to say about this phone and that is the size. It lags, freezes up, won't answer many times when I open the phone and try to pick up, and so much more. Not enough options on the text messages that Sanyo has offered years ago such a smileys (sounds silly) but you use them often. Sprint blames Motorola for half of my issues, Motorola blames Sprint for the other half and here I am, the customer, caught in the middle with a below average phone and a long contract. DON'T DO IT!!! I have been in the wireless industry for over 10 years and have never written such a review, but I now realize why Sprint and Motorola severed ties years ago. Simply put, they don't work together and not in the best interest of the customer. Hope it saves you
Krzr just another Razr...
There are some things that I do like about this phone. Such as the sleek design and the size of the phone. I really like the touch features on the front of the phone as well. However that is about all I like about this phone. I recently switched to the Krzr after having an LG for 2 years. THere are a lot of things that I like a lot better about my old LG. For instance on the Krzr, the actual programming of the phone is entirely too slow. It takes literally seconds to open any menu and scroll through. Text messaging takes forever as well. (Isn't the point of text messaging for quick messaging?) The sound is poor on the Krzr as well, it sounds like everything is muffled and in a cave. The LG was very clear and loud. I also cannot stand that the vibrate on the Krzr is VERY week. I am used to using the vibrate mode for everything. I usually never have my ringer on. Usually in the office or something so I need the vibrate to work well. My LG was very strong and had no problems. The MP3 player on the Krzr is ok, just do not put it down on a table or flat surface because it will block the speaker which is on the back of the phone and you will not be able to hear it! I am also used to being able to check my text messages and missed calls etc. from the front of my LG phone, but the krzr does not let you do any of that. The battery life is very week, LG's is very strong. Overall, I am disappointed with the KRZR and will be taking it back shortly in exchange for the new LG 8600! It has everything that I need and more than the KRZR has.
Pros-
Sleek design, touch features, size
Cons-
Muffled sound, very laggy, text messaging features, vibrate mode, battery life, can't touch the front without getting fingerprints all over it
Better than Some phones, but has some problems
I like this phone, except for a couple things about it.
-Being a person that likes to text message a lot, it's annoying with how small the buttons are. I have little fingers, and even so, it's hard to get used to the size of the buttons. When typing a text message, I always accidently hit the end button and accidently exit out of the text message and have to start all over again, or accidently send the text message to early.
-The phone has a programming glitch where you can not set a personal ringtone to people. You can only have one set ring tone for everyone.
-Also, being the clean freak that I am, the shiny glass surface on the front is really cool, but gets finger prints really easy. I usually clean it off with windex every other day, which can be dangerous if I accidently get it in the keypad or the battery, it could cause water damager, but I can't stand the finger prints, they just bother me.
-I do find the load time for the New Text Messaging screen to come up and contact list to come up slower then other phones, but I don't know if it's just me being impatient, or if it's actually slow.
Other then that, the touchpad buttons on the front are really and handy with the MP3 player.
Beautiful... but not comfortable
I wanted to replace my LG 6000 so bad with this phone... so I waited and waited for it to go on sale and finally bought it at CC two weeks ago for free.
The sound quality and reception so far are very good...so is the speaker phone.
But what was the selling point for me, the shape is actually causing me to return it tomorrow for the LG 8300. It's too narrow for my hands and ear. At first it feels great, but soon it's small square ear-piece gets uncomfortable and my hand doesn't have a good grip wrapping around the square narrow case. There is a button for the voice activation which is easily pressed while talking (annoying). The voice activation is poor, BTW. Half the time it cannot understand you.
Another thing is if you get your fingers too close to the speaker, you hear yourself talking into a can.
So you have to keep repositioning your hand.
The images made by the camera are poor (shutter speed is too slow) and the software is very slow. Compare the camera function on say a Samsung A930 and you will see the difference.
I totally drained the battery before recharging (charger is sometimes tricky to use...make sure it is charging before walking away) and got almost 5 days with light use and the battery plummeted from 2 bars to quickly. My LG 6000 battery lasts and lasts.
Durability.... I am very afraid to drop this phone... of course I did a couple of times (not onto concrete though) and it loosened up a tiny bit but snapped back together.
Not sure how long the hinge will stay tight because the demo at the store was loose.
It is beautiful and would love to keep it as a piece of art and the call quality is great... but I think I will exchange it tomorrow for the 8300 because of the reasons above.
Sprint KRZR
Really love this phone. I have kept my Sanyo VM4500/SPC5500 old faithfull for almost 3 years waiting for a phone like this! The signal is as good if not better than my Sanyo, battery life blows away the Blade when using the bluetooth, I am really happy with this phone! I was going to go with the 8400 if this one didn't work but the krzr is awesome! I send pictures, listen to music, txt message often. I talk several hours a day, it is great to leave the phone on my desk while it charges but still be able to walk around and talk with the bluetooth headset.
Pros:
You can txt message while your talking on the phone.
MicroSD card for music, pictures ect...
Palm like features, syncs with computer.
Great camera
Great video
Menu interface is very similar to my Sanyo.
Bluetooth is awesome.
Nice keypad for typing.
Clear sound on both sides of the conversation.
Nice speaker phone.
Coolest looking phone I have seen!
Cons:
I used to use my camera light on my old phone as a flash light, wish the krzr had a light on it.
Menu is a little slower than the Sanyo but I am used to it now.
Don't have EVDO in my area yet, really sucks!
That's it, buy it one of the best phones Sprint had.
GREAT PHONE FOR THE MOST PART
I got the US Cellular k1m 2 days ago. I am happy with it for the most part, I went from the v3c to the v3m to the krzr, I have to say I like the v3m the best so far.
PROS:
Looks great
mp3 player accessible on the outside of phone and can be turned on without opening the phone.
buttons feel stury
great reception
loud speaker
CONS:
Micro sd card really slows down everything.
only 1.3mp camera, instead of 2.0mp
Lied to on memory.. ITS ONLY 30MB NOT 64MB.
finger prints bad. Either wipe non stop or carry a smudgy phone and it gets bad.
Battery Life is HORRIBLE!!
Very small screen (compared to razr)
But if you want the best looking phone out right now this is the phone for you. But the v3m is still the king for now.
KRZR K1m
The K1m is a awesome phone. I have had the v710, for a long time then when the lg-9800 came out I had it for three days, then used a lg 6000 as a tempoary phone untill the K1m came out which was perfect timing cause it was my birthday. It was well worth the wait.
Anyone seeking a phone with stereo sound....forget it. The lg-9800 have it and the chocolate has it and yet the K1m do not have it and it sounds 100 percent better and louder.
This phone the K1m is is simply set up to be in the upper class of phones and at a cheaper price.
Con: it attracts finger prints like a magnet, but a couple simple wipes and it's looking like new again.
So my actual rating is 4.9
I would recommend this phone to anyone.
Just got my Krzr
The phone arrived at 7PM and I immediately ran to the Verizon store and now its all setup. This is my first phone since the LG VX7000, so here is a review...
Pros:
- Style
- Bluetooth
- Better Reception
- Better battery
- Size (Feels great in the hand)
Cons:
- Style (buttons are very small and take some getting used to)
- Front glossy finish is nice, but easily smudged. If you have OCD, avoid this phone. : )
I have yet to hook it up to my PC, so I'll add some more reviews once that is all setup.
Hope this helps guys.
Krzr k1m
Great phone so far. Had it for less than 24 hours. Battery life is great compared to my old v3c. The k1m allows more shortcuts on the key pad. The phone is very nice looking with a black pearl/metalic color. I was able to sync my music without the software. I just used one of my old digital camera USB cables, worked like a charm. So save your money. Bluetooth was easy to pair up. Call quality is better and the phone feels a bit more solid than my oold razr. So far it is a great improvement from the V3c.
ROCKS!!!
I've owned the RAZR since it orignally came out with Cingular and have loved it. The KRZR is a huge upgrade over the RAZR. As was mentioned in the previous review, the feel of the in your hand feels better, it is thinner and just over really cool! So what if it smudges!!! It's a phone not your shoes or your Benz!!
The Verizon UI takes time to get to used too. This time it does allow the vibrate option whereas in the other Verizon Razr's that option is turned off. The charger uses the same chargers connection as in previous models(Great!! You don't to go buy another charger!!)
I'm so happy I'm to buy one for my wife and replace her existing Razr. Paid $199 for the phone, recieved it yesterday.(pd $14.99 for express overnight)
All for now!
Good Luck!
