SD Trouble
This review is more than just for the phone, but for Verizon itself...
I purchased the new Maxx Ve from Verizon within the NC market. I love the large screen, slim design, and ease of use. The camera is excellent, for a camera phone, with the auto-focus option and basic flash (rather than just a light).
The only complaint I have is that the 1 gig SD card DOES NOT WORK!!! I haven't tried any other size.
When I first discovered the problem, I took the phone back to Verizon and they swapped it for 2 other phones until they determined that it was the ScanDisk SD Card. Since then, I have tried a new 1 gig ScanDisk SD card as well as the Verizon packaged version. To go one step further, I even went to a different Verizon store (50 miles away) to try my 1 gig on a new phone. Everything has produced the same results.
Now all parties involved agree that this is a software problem with the phone.
Symptoms discovered:
Most times, the phone will not start up.
When it does start up, there is erratic recognition of the card. Any of these may not show up upon the first attempt.
- phone's system menu to display memory
usage may not show the card as an option.
- My Music may or may not show downloaded
song listings.
- Songs listed on My Music may not play.
- Pictures stored onto phone memory may or
may not display the "Move" option to allow
you to move it to the card memory.
Verizon has indicated that rather than jumping into getting a critical feature such as this fixed, they will wait until enough phones are purchased and returned to warrant a fix. Currently, the solution is to swap the phone out for a different brand.
Now that's customer service at it's best... "Can you hear me now"
Bottom line: Ultimately, I'm sure this will be fixed through some kind of software patch, but no ETA on getting that. So, if you want this phone and don't require any additional memory for it, this is a great phone.
may go back to lg
just got the phone and the camera gets stuck on initializing.
i also had to pull the battery out because the phone got stuck on the verizon logo and i couldn't do anything.. i plan to get a replacement tomorrow but remember its one day old.. what a pain..... i had a lg 8600 so maybe i will try the 8700. the only bad thing with the 8600 is the speaker phone..
