Not so great!
I've had this phone for quite some time and have realized it's not all it's cracked up to be by far. When I first got this phone I was like everyone else and loved it. But I do have to say the phone does have it's faults. Some I have found are....
-horrible battery life
-screen goes black and you can't see who's calling or see to text
-you have to turn the flash on every time you take a picture
-you are unable to "lock" text messages
-screen is easily scratched
-signal area isn't that great through WV
-you have to choose from their list of text message alerts, no customizing your own
-where the antenna is built in to slide with the phone, if the phone is in your pocket alot of times it looses the signal
Some good things I have found are...
-i don't have a problem with the ring volume
-the phone does seem pretty durable
-does allow you to store up to 4 numbers for each phone book entry
-songs sound pretty good on the speaker
-it's not hard to navigate
I switched to this phone after having a razr, this being my first LG and I do have to say overall the razr was a better phone! I'm not so sure I'll own another LG after this one!

Purchased this phone form AT&T in July, and have since gone through 4 warranty replacements with it. First one had a large patch of dead pixels in the middle of the screen after just 6 days, from then on, I had to call in every month to get a new one because the phones would overheat to the point where it was impossible to use despite getting a new whole new kit from AT&T, and trying different wall outlets when charging. Got mediocre service most of the time even though I am in a 3G area, and it was much better than my old phone in terms of looks but I got sick of this phone and jumped at AT&T's offer to switch it out for another after it died the 4th time.
Worst Phone Ever!
I bought this phone less than a year ago. the only good thing about this phone is the way it looks and the reception. everything else is awful.
- ring volume is way too low, even on high
- the screen turns all black or snowy when opened sometimes.
- not very good service.
- cannot have custom text allert.
- the camera takes alright pics unless someone or something moves the slightest bit.
This phone was a waste of money, i wish i never bought it.
Not a Bad Upgrade
I got this phone as an upgrade to the Samsung Sync (A707). At first I wasn't too keen on this, but after using it for a week, it worked out quite nice.
PROs
-2 megapixel camera, take pictures like it's a real camera
-Very nice design
-Earpiece is loud & clear
-You can customize the dialing display (for the older folks) & have the option to have the numbers be called out loud
-If you are a business person, the vibrate functions make this easy to field calls & messages
-The music player is very clear, loud
CONs
-If you're a big texter, then get used to deleting every 150-180 messages you get
-The navigation button takes a little bit of getting used to
-While the housing & screen is nice, it is easily scratched
-If you aren't used to a slider phone, you must keep it up when making calls (unless speaker phone)
Overall, I would recommend this phone, just make sure you are willing to give it a chance!
LG Shine didn't last long
I was really excited about buying this phone. It looks and feels great. I was told that this is one of 3 popular teen phones & that it was the most durable of the 3. After less than a week, the screen stopped working. I took it back to the store & the sales person looked at it for a good while & found a very superficial 1/8 in. scratch that you can't even feel on the screen & said that I had damaged the phone & it wouldn't be covered under warranty. I'm not even rough on phones. I had my last one for years. I regret buying this one. Now my only option is to pay a $50 deductible on the insurance to get a refurbished one just like it. I don't think so!!!
Great Phone
When I first got this phone I hated the joystick control thingy. Never did what I wanted it to do. But once I got use to it I kinda liked it. I love this phone and wouldn't want to go without it. I do agree ring tones aren't loud enough though. I miss calls all the time.
SHINE...no good
i got this phone 2 days after valentines day...because i liked the red one.
(February 16 08) today is november 11 2008, and i have had 5 replacements since i bought it. every single one ive had has shut off every time i slid it down. i had to keep it up if i wanted to use it. i called warranty today and they said they have shipped me too many phones and they cant send me another one. i asked them what i should do and they said "buy a new phone" seriosly? i shouldnt have to get 5 new phones and they wont send me a different kinda phone...

I have had nothing but PROBLEMS with this phone!! I know that the phone looks sleek, and super cool, and it is! Hey-the only reason that I bought it was because Lauren from "The Hills" was promoting it on TV!!! That will be the LAST time I do that!!

-NO RECEPTION!!! its horrible!
-LOST TEXT MESSAGES My boyfriend and I text on a regular basis...well not anymore! Half the time I have to call him to see if he's received my text messages or not, because it's been an hour since I asked him a question via text! And half the time, I don't receive his! If he EVER does get my text messages, it might not be until the next day!
-DISTORTED SCREEN!!! Just recently, I go to turn on the phone, and the screen is so distorted that I can't even see anything! I go to turn it on and off, same thing. Sometimes the screen just goes black, like it froze, so I have to open up the back to take out the battery just to turn off the phone! I've had this phone for a few months, so beware anyone else that his this phone. If it hasn't happened yet...it probably will!!
-PHONE SHUTS OFF- The phone sometimes shuts off, like it has a mind of its own, sometimes during mid-text! SO FRUSTRATING!!!!
*so do you wonder why the phone is only $50 now??? Yea..this is why! I've heard of other people having the EXACT same problems as I'm having. This is by far THE WORST phone I have EVER purchased. I'm so disappointed with it. I'm so frustrated and upset with the outcome of this phone, I am going to every website that has phone reviews and putting this there, because I don't want anyone to deal with what I've been going through. It's been a total nightmare, no lie. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING!!*
Not happy at all.
I was really excited when I got this phone because it was so pretty. Now I regret it with every bone in my body. It turns off when it feels like it, the battery will not stay charged, the reception is no good, it gets scratched really easily, and I can't hear who I am talking to. I have tried to exchange it but I can't because warranty will not cover it since it is scratched. I am also going to be charged a $50 deductible on my insurance to return it for a problem that is not my fault. So I guess you could say I am not happy at all with this phone. Think really long and hard before you get this phone just for its looks.
Looks Great, Acts Bad
Wow LG built a great structure for this phone.(Stainless Steel) The Shine is a great multimedia phone. Camera is great with its 2.0 mega-pixel feature and it has a good mp3 player. I would suggest having headphones if you're a true music fanatic because it's not as loud as sum MP3 phones. Screen and graphics are clear and visible for this phone. Battery life could be better, you would to give it a charge somewhere during the day. Texting wise I don't like the feel of the buttons, the keypad is too hard for me.
There has been some issue with the Shine. One is the bluetooth doesn't connect or doesn't even find it! Another issue is dropped calls, even in usually good service spots. Second, is the screen could just go out on you! or just get scrambled? And all of this happens right at the 30 days, which is the last day where you can go back and exchange it in the store! Overall, The LG Shine NEEDS improvements on its "phone" part of it.
