DROID!
Just wanted to say this phone is awesome. It amazes me how many things this phone can do. From silly apps to very useful, productive, and educational apps. You can even download apps to keep track of your jogging using it's gps capabilities (CardioTrainer).
This phone does it all. For the people complaining about it's aesthetics and rating the phone low because of it, you obviously judge things by it's cover and not what it can do. And for the people complaining about it resetting 10 times in 5 hours. I'm sorry to say but not every hardware is perfect. The resetting is most likely caused by a malfunction in the phones touch screen and you can easily get the phone REPLACED! My phones been running all kinds of apps for four days and it hasn't resetted once during that time.
Anyways, it just annoys me on how people rate stuff low before giving it a proper chance.
PROS:
-MULTITASKING
-Reception
-Call quality is good
-So many applications to download for FREE!
-The docks for this phone are so awesome
-Comes with a 16GB microSD card
-Google Nav Beta
-Google MAPS
CONS:
-Keyboard is too small and not centered, kind of makes it awkward texting (loved the HTC TP 2 keyboard), but i'm able to adapt to it
Droid Does
This phone is a great solid phone! Service is great because it is on Verizon, and data is fast. I get around 2.5-2.7 Mbps. I have had a lot of iPhone customers buy one and port there number over from AT&T.
love it
Overall I am very pleased with the Droid.
Pros:
The screen is the best.
camera is good not great.
voice quality is excellent
Facebook app is good.
Email is good
Apps are plentiful
battery is good if you can put it down.
Fast browser on 3G
Robo defense game is addictive (free download)
HD utube
Cons:
uses the same notification for texts, and email.
cant zoom on email only websites.
HAVA player not available yet.
would give it 4.75 almost perfect.
Droid
I really like this phone I have both VZW and Tmobile. I really like the PDA phones with them AKA Verizon more overall. SO I got to try out a dummy phone first and then I waited for my friend to get real Droid so I can play with it all I want so I can try it out. I absolutly love it. I like all of the widgets and all of the capabilities of it the camera yes is a bit off right now but I am sure a software update will fix that. I love love love the google web search that you can do by voice. It is awesome. Overall This phone is a great PDA phone and the Androis OS is great I have only had more Windows based and I like Android way more now. I like how fast and responsive it is. The keyboard is a little weird to get use to I found mine kind of hard to press but overall I love the phone that is why I had to reate is a 4.5 that physical keyboard catches you off guard a little. But it is still a great feature. It is just a really nice phone. Great Job VZW. You finally got an awesome Smartphone.
Among the Best I have EVER Had!
The Motorola Droid has been one of the best phones I have had to date. Very stable OS, build, and voice quality. I had a Storm 2, and iPhone before this and was on the fence. After I decided to go for it, I have never looked back!
The first thing everyone must realize is, that Android is a Google experience device, and it will not be for everybody. I myself have Google products, so it works quite nicely. When I bought it from Best Buy I thought to myself, like I usually do "looks like I have to get home and set this baby up so I can start tinkering with it." To my surprise, all my GMail contacts as well as calendar had synced to the Droid!
To get on with a breakdown of my opinions, I have listed the Pros and Cons below:
Pros:
-Beautiful Screen
-Push GMail
-Free Voice guided, turn by turn navigation
-Accessories priced right and very handy
-Great call audio
-Stable, Fast Android OS
-Tons of great, usable Apps in the Android Market
-Very customizable, and widgets are a +
-On screen (virtual) keyboard works great
-Voice search/dialing pretty accurate
-Battery life better than others I have had
Con:
-Real keyboard off center, low profile buttons
-OS a little more complicated (basically, a longer learning curve-it isn't rocket science, but it isn't first grade math either)
-Black bezel dings easily
-Some things a little redundant (i.e. voice search still shows on screen options for you to choose while driving)
Well that about sums it up for me, I highly suggest going into a Verizon store, or even borrowing a friends and play around with it a bit to see if you like it. My vote is go for it!
goodbye iphone hello motorola droid
I will be putting my iphone on the shelf in place of my new moto droid. I have tried several Verizon phones in the past six months and now I'm happy. This phone is not an iphone killer but it will do every thing the iphone does and more.
pros: great display
very fast
great video camera
slim design
well built
good list of apps
easy to set up
cons: keyboard will take some getting use to
camera is a little slow ( but I hear there will be a software up grade soon)
No longer desire the iPhone!
After wanting the iPhone to come to Verizon for the longest time, I think I lost my desire for one!
Being an employee for the company I've gone thru different PDA's and Blackberries. After a few days of use I feel that this phone exceeds all my expectations of what it can actually do, as well as multitask at ease. Despite the marketplace having 10,000 available apps, it nearly doubled once this phone released only after a week of its release. I'm not too worried about lack of apps at this rate.
Pros:
screen size
available apps (since its release)
video camera
resolution
multitasking
memory management
internet speed with VZW's 3g network
google sync integration
widgets
..can't think of any more...
Cons:
5mp camera works great with appropriate lighting
There's an update on the software in the next month, so hopefully it'll get rid of the issues.
Who needs an iPhone if you have the DROID?!
Wow.. but lets not compare to iPhone
wow... am very VERY impressed with this phone. I do love the iPhone and no this isnt an iphone.. but in many ways its much better.
the styling on this phone is too gorgeous... and the way it works...!!! DAMN! Took a bit to figure out some things.. but the way you can customize... and add widgets.. and true gps via satellites and agps.
navigation is good.. and street view is great. one thing i like is the constantly updated weather on the main screen.. can see the temp at a glance!
First impressions..
I've had a Blackberry curve for the last 2 years. I'm happy with the BB, but wanted more. ie, wifi and better gps.
I had an iphone for 4 days and returned it due to poor service where I live.
The Droid delivers all it promises and more.
I've been playing with it for 2 days and I'm sure I am keeping it.
You must purchase the GPS cradle attachment for use in the car. It works better than expected, but is not with out flaws..
First off, it's google maps. The input directions were easy for using it the first time. The voice is audible. Its fast. My only problem with the actual driving directions was that it took me on a longer route than it should.. I haven't played with the menu options in car mode, yet..
Set up was easy, but the brain trust working at the verizon store took three attempts to do a phone book transfer from my blackberry.
It eventually worked.
The sales reps at the verizon store seemed unprepared to answer questions about the droid.. (sales rep told me it did not have wifi)
Pros-
It is on the VZW network.
Its fast.
WIFI.
Call quality is very good. (central NJ)
A hair short of being as good as a garmin nuvi.
APP store is good and fast.
Solid build.
Camera and video camera very good.
battery life isn't bad. Got through a day of heavy usage.
Cons-
Can't figure out how to do spell check in gmail..
The keyboard.. What were they thinking?? I use the one on screen.. much better.
It's not a blackberry, so I can't compare the two.. I played with the Storm 1&2, but didn't think they were fast enough.. So, the Droid fit my needs.
I use 4 email accounts, and the setup was simple and quick.
I haven't had a problem sending or receiving emails.
I could see missing BB messenger, but I'm sure there's an app for that or coming soon..
I like it better than the iphone, because not only can I make a phone call, but I can hear the person talking too.
