Got a big one
I am impressed with this phone. I got from movistar Venezuela, excellent sound and signal, nice pics and average vids, can use voice recordings as ringtones, great variety of connection with pc (usb, ir and bt), easyly configurable functions and voice commands, mp3 or aac songs of any bitrate are allowed, pics into contacts and see it on both screens on incoming calls. Internal fm great with a included handsfree, so many features that i cant mention all here.
Pros
-sound quality on calls, sound listening and FM
-bt friendly, easy switch on/off for my h/free headset
-lovely outside pics and below fluorescent light
-flash becomes a light when activated on video capture
-amr, mid, mp3, aac as ringtones is cool
-altough inside screen can't put a screensaver but can animate gifs when its used as wallpaper
-got a 17:30 length of song on a aac format in only 1,3mb (wow, its made with itunes and dbpoweramp)
cons
-cant customize ringtones from gallery for each contact
-incandescent light not helpful on pics and video (got a blue artifacts on dark places)
-flash needs illuminate a object on particular (at determined distance) else it gets a blurry blue surrounding light
-movistar bring me a bt headset but no memory expansion, limited at 7.5mb
-software glitch (v n100v1300.nep 04-03-05 RM-19) sometimes gets a cold reboot when i go into gallery folders. i guess that it's because faulty memory (no expansion memory present) I hope so!
-when the signal falls a half (2 bars on out screeen) sometimes drops calls and gets a voicemail instead
-bt button headset no answer calls (or i dont know how much time had to keep pressed this button for that)
-bt headset cant get used for listen fm
-inside screen cover easyly scracthable
-cant run s40 games here, some mot t720 games can work fine but no sound effects, only music
-oxygen phone manager still cant support all features of this phone, specially contact's pics and java apps/games
-a little big one and little heavy, comparable with a v710

I won this phone at a nokia convention, and am pleased to have such an advance over my Moto v265 for nothing. I got to play with both the protype and the verizon specific model.
Pros:
-Bluetooth
-the buttons are easy to push
-reception is great w/ verizon in metro Seattle
-using the speakerphone when it's closed is awsome
-camera is great
-large bright screen
Cons:
-small enter button takes some getting used to
-the fact that it can't 'see' other phones, pda's, and computers it's sync via bt with
-a little large
-battery door is fragile
-no MP player, removed by Verizon
Glitch:
it only happened once, but during the saving of an edited file, if you back up through the folders after decending into the image folder, and save above it, when you hit back it enters the phones program directory that holds major functions like .jav files.
This phone was a COMPLETE waste of money.
I bought this phone for over $100 from Alltel in July of 2006. I was more than excited to get my first phone with a camera and one that was bluetooth compatible. What a waste. My first phone had a huge crack in the hinge. Alltel gladly replaced the phone. I was given a free battery, which for some reason never worked. My 2nd phone fell out of my pocket and after that would shut off when I was in the middle of a conversation. Right now I have a loner and am much more satisfied with it than I ever was with this phone. I have spoken with others about this phone and they ALL had the same problems that I did. Way to go Nokia!

Completely satisfied with this phone. Love the speed, size and durability of the 6255i. My only dislike is the small menu key in the middle of the directional key pad. Otherwise it is pretty much perfect.
The Nokia 6255i is the best Phone I've owned
I bought my Nokia 6255i in 2004. This was a MetroPcs phone. This phone lasted me 5 years. I dropped it so many times. It slipped out of my hand several times while riding my bike but still worked. The radio was great while riding my bike, I'd put it on speaker phone. The call logs were great with 5 per call or phone number. This phone got service in places where other phones did not. I put a purple chrome cover on it when I got it. When the phone quit working that same cover was no longer purple, most of it had worn off and the cover was unpainted white. After more than 5 years it quit working after getting to damp or wet while working on a car. Or perhaps it died of old age. I really miss this phone and I'm getting another 6255i, used or new soon.
Data Conerning Nokia 6255i
What can you say...this is an excellent cell phone. I have had this phone for the past 3 1/2 years and it is still going strong. I purchased it through Alltel and last month while getting another phone upgraded for my daughter, I asked the tech guy his opinion on this phone (mine) just to hear what he said. He said in so many words, "It's a great phone and if I were you, I'd never get rid of it. It's doesn't make any sense to turn it in for a cheaper quality phone for an 'upgrade.' What he said, verified my own personal assessment of this cell phone.
PROS:
1. Signal: It gets signal and is able to make and receive calls in areas where most cell phones don't.
2. Durability: Very tough phone. It has taken a beating...sometimes falling out of its cell casing onto the ground. It has a few minor scratches, but works fine. One point...although it's very durable, use the common sense approach and get a cell phone cover for it to aid its longevity.
3. Uniformity of AC/DC power chargers. This is my 2nd Nokia and all power accessories are the same for all Nokia phones which is a money saver if you stay loyal to the Nokia brand and buy a replacement cell phone brand.
CONS:
1. The model is no longer on sale.
2. The keypad should have its keys lit, so the keypad can be used more easily when it's dark. If you're in a vehicle, you have to turn on a small lamp or the dome light to see the keys when dialing.
Nokia 6256i
I purchased the Nokia 6256i in February 2005 to replace my reliable but beaten up LG Vx6000. From the day I got the Nokia to today, I have had incredible problems with the software and hardware. I bought the phone for its features and have been deeply disappointed that Nokia has equated features with poor reliability. I can only be thankful that the 2 years is up and I can get a new phone without paying exorbitant list prices.
CONS:
1.) Wiped out photos set as background on both screens
2.) Powers off for no apparent reason and often requires multiple power cycles to get the software to work properly.
3.) Fills up my memory regularly since the side button, when depressed in my pocket, records ambient noise.
4.) Makes text messaging any numbers a chore as there is no numbers menu to choose from.
5.) Has two choices for text messages, either fill up your sent items after 50 messages and be forced to delete them or not save any but last one sent.
6.) Has a speaker phone that sounds muffled
7.) Navigation of menus is tedious in either list or icon form
8.) Has a poor selection of ringtones that would be more appropriate for a child's phone than an adult's phone.
9.) Signal strength bars display arbitrary values - too many calls have dropped while using a full charged phone with 4 bars
PROS:
1.) It has lasted 2 years, so I can rid myself of this nightmare and replace it with an LG, which I owned previously.
Even after 2 years - Still the Phone to Have
I'm shocked by the negative reviews on this phone! I' have not 1, not 2, but 3 of these phones in my family. We got two at the same time just about the time they were discontinued in early 2006 (or was it late 2005). We still have one of those originals, the other was graciously replaced by Nokia when it suffered a bizarre software corruption. (I do not expect all technology to run flawlessly at all times for eternity - btw). We liked the first 2 phones so well, that we bought a third for a daughter at Ebay. That phone arrived and also worked beautifully.
Weak hinge? I don't think so. We've broken other phones with little effort. These things have been sat upon, drop kicked, knocked to the floor by over enthusiastic reaches, horse play and dashing cats. They have been subjected to most of the abuse you would expect a phone to see, not intentionally, but just because they have been in constant use for 2 years! They neither have a scuff, crack, dent or bruise upon them. They are not kept shielded in leather cases either. I used to cringe when my daughter stuck hers in the tight back pocket of her jeans. But, no more. It has withstood the test of time and teenagers. Someone said that the color wore off? Huh? How in the **** did you get it to do that?
Anyway, it also has all the functionality we need in a phone - INCLUDING - individual ringtones for individual contacts. You can set individual rings quite easily, but I see other users didn't figure it out and thought only groups could have unique rings. Not so. Yeah, I read 8 pages of reviews before deciding to sign up and write my own. I can't believe the misinfo here for a great phone. We keep watching eBay hoping to pick up a couple of spares in case anything does happen to our now out of warranty phones, because we just don't want to switch to any other phone.
CONS? Doesn't exit menu items when flip closed. So, can't use voice dial closed until cleared.
First Flip, Last Mistake
The Nokia 6255i is loaded with great features, such as:
Bluetooth, voice recording, video recording, camera with built-in flash, a scheduled (weekly) alarm chart, some pretty entertaining games and last but not least, that user-friendly interface that us nokia users all know and love.
What I don't like about this phone is that it's cheap! And I don't mean it's price!
The silver reflective trim around the mini-display, which reads "NOKIA" will start to flake away after 8 to 9 months. I'm scared the hinge might give out. The phone will turn itself off randomly and when you least expect it (especially at those times when you're waiting for an important phone call). I sent the phone away to the nokia repair center in Melbourne, FL and they seemed to fix the "random shut-off" problem by updating the firmware, but they didn't handle any of the aesthetics. I'VE NEVER DROPPED THIS PHONE! The least they could do is replace the phone! The main display will start to develop a crack in it for no reason, so whatever you do, don't slam this phone shut. Gently close it instead.
The main problem I have with this phone, is that it isn't a "series 60" (Symbian OS) phone. This is a HUGE problem for me because I'm a MAC user and the rest of the world is slowly, but surely following my path. I've appreciated Nokia much more since they went with the Symbian OS, like in the 6600. I've never had a problem syncing that phone with my powerbook, but I have been unsuccessful in syncing my Nokia 6255i and have finally given up. I simply refuse to deal with windows ever again, so it's out of the question for me to even flirt with the idea of using "Virtual PC" or "Boot Camp", so that I may lay eyes on that miserable operating system again.
RIM finally woke up and got together with PocketMac to allow syncing blackberries to macs, so now it's TIME for Nokia to wake up and do the same with the series 40 phones.
Frustrated Nokia owner
I have owned my Nokia for about 9 months and although the little bells and whistles are what first attracted me to this phone, I am continually frustrated by the "basics" one would expect from any cellular phone.
My carrier, U.S. Cellular, is not the issue. The reception is great, however, that is if I can receive the call. I am on my second Nokia.
My first Nokia 6255i had to be replaced due to it cracking on the hinges causing it to malfunction on the outer display window. All of the display turned upside down and failed to show anything but the Nokia name.
When phone calls are received, about 1 out of 5 calls cause the phone to power down and I lose the call. I was hoping that it was just a malfunction on the first phone, but the new one I received is repeating the same problem of powering down.
Furthermore, I can only assign custom ringtones up to 5 caller groups, not individuals, which was a shock to me, so when I lose a call I don't know who has attempted to call me to return the call to due to the phone only allowing a large general personalization of ringtones. When these calls are missed, the phone doesn't register them in the call log.
