Great phone from Cingular
I have had sprint pcs for several years and never got any service in my house. Also, I wanted a bluetooth phone.(Which is a deparment sprint is seriously lacking in.) So I went to Cingular and got the sony ericsson s710a. This phone is great! It's got tons of bluetooth profiles, A 1.3 mega-pixel camera w/ video recorder, a great screen resloution, a mp3 player (i have an ipod which is use to save memory on my phone but is still cool feature to have). Edge high-speed data, and not to mention a cool swivel form factor. Also the antenna is awesome. It works better in my house, and some of my friends with cingular have the moto razr (which is cool but needs a better antenna). Overall I gave this phone a 5/5 star review because I haven't found anything that's wrong with it yet and I think that I will still like it for a long time until se updates it in which case I'll most likely get the new model.
ok ok this phone is awesome!
i used to own a samsung p777 and i loved that phone until the phone went out on me twice. i went cingular and tried to switch it to another p777 but they ran out so they gave me the sony s710a. well all i can say is wow..this phone has the updated OS so there is NO lag at all..atleast in my phone..and i text message very fast and it keeps up. also going through the menu is fast and keeps up to my button presses. as for pros...pretty much everything..love the phone book, edge, big screen, camera, speakerphone ..i can go on and on.
now for the con the only thing i can think of is the size and how u use the camera..u cannot take a picture in the same position like u r using the phone..i mean with my samsung i can act like im typin a text message or just playing with my phone and still take pics.
well im keeping this phone until the w600i comes out
How to improve the processing speed.
I purchased this phone a month ago. It looks like the new version of FW supports "Silent Shutter sound". I've been heavily using its camera and now I finally turned on the sound. If this is your concern as Cons, then -Resolved.
Then picture quality is good for phone but definitely nothing compared to what $200 digital cameras takes. The picture is always out of focus especially around the edge of the picture.
What I really didn't like was the processing speed. by default, it takes 3 seconds to bring up the main menu. I just happened to found it will be shorten by turning off the wall paper. It is now less than a second.
This changed my mind. I think I will keep it. :)
great high end phone
this lil phone is like a best friend meaning it has everything a regular person will need in a phone plus alot more.
pros:
camera
mp3 player
screan
features
signal strength
cons:
takes a long time to text(only sucks for me becaz i like to text)
shows smudges soo easily u need to keep a rag in back pocket just to keep the screan clean.
As u can see for me the pros greatly outweighs any cons this phone may have. Since the phone is now 300 with a 200 dollar NIR u cant go wrong with this phone especially since insurance covers it.
woowwww
i just got this phone to day and i love it the service and camera and every thing els mp3 ..... it is much better the razor and sony Ericsson is the hot company now
New to me.....love this one
I finally made the switch to Cingular..had to pay full price for a phone so I had to do lots of research and find one worth paying a lot for. I had the 505 from ATT and so I wanted to get something that was an upgrade and I thought that the Razor was not all it is cracked up to be....and as it seems it is not, at least in my market. So I went with this phone. I am over all very happy with it. It has taken me a while to get used to it, very different then what I am used to but after about 2 hours of "messing" with it, I have it down.
Pros: great camera, lots of memory and very clear. I love being able to check my e mail, and the ringtones are great. The Bluetooth is an obvious MUST and works great.
Cons: slightly on the bulky side and hard to remember which way is up when I open it.
Overall this is a great phone for those who love to take pictures and have fun with ringtones. I love it, and I am pretty picky about what I use.
The Best
For the price you can't beat it! I love that you can listen to your MP3 player and minamize it so you can still have access to every other part of the phone. Sweet camra and very nice screen.
GREAT PHONE WITH A ONE PROBLEM
SO FAR THIS PHONE HAS BEEN REALLY COOL I BROUGHT IT FOR ALMOST $650 BEFORE IT WAS LAUNCHED.
EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT...CAMERA, MP3, SPEAKER, RINGTONES, ETC. THE ONLY PROBLEM I SEEM TO HAVE IS WHEN SOMEONE SENDS ME A PICTURE MESSAGE THE PICTURE IS NEVER THE SAME SIZE OF THE SCREEN AND I CAN NOT ZOOM IN OR MAKE IT THE SIZE OF THE SCREEN...DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
Pretty Good Phone. Didnt blow me away
I got this phone with pretty high expectations and was a little dissapointed however, its still a pretty sweet phone.
(have had Moto T720, LG VX6000)
PROS:
Camara is VERY good
MP3 player is sweeet, sounds great
VERY VERY loud ringer
pretty good battery length
Best speaker phone I've ever had
Large screen, looks awesome
CONS:
Cant turn off shutter sound
small buttons makes for quite Difficult txt msging
Has froze on me a couple times
Trying to find a larger memory stick for this phone sucks
talking with it unfolded sound quality is only OK
I love it!
I must have a different version, because I am able to turn the camera shutter noises off.
Pros:
Great camera
Card reader is easy to use (PnP even in Linux)
Brilliant screen
Great reception (in my area... Cingular in South-central California)
Cons:
I'm not too fond of the charger and plug in headphones.
Battery life dies quickly with use of camera/video
I'm glad I chose it over the Razr.
