LG C2000
Average Ratings
pice of junk!
it kept dropping calls left and right. so i took it back and got a nokia i know they work and can keep a call! will not buy another lg
eh...
Initially, I was in love with this phone. It's certainly very attractive, but it doesn't perform as well as I'd like. I think I've been spoiled by my old Nokias.
Pros:
*Good voice quality
*Good signal (Cingular in Philadelphia, PA and Rochester, NY)
*Loud, ascending ring tones
*Nice vibration
*Attractive form factor
*Can see time on outside screen without hitting any buttons
Cons:
*Dropped calls! At least once every two days, this phone drops a call.
*Silly faux-color outside screen. I didn't think this would bother me, but it does. It just looks fake
*Less-than-stellar battery life (compared to my old Nokia, of course)
Think it's cute, but undecided...
I am a former Nokia user. I loved Nokia... but each new phone seemed to have less of the good phone quality and more trinkets...
Perhaps that's true of all brands~ eh?
Anyway, about the LG C2000 (I'm listing the cons first):
When you are on a call, the clock disappears and all you see on either screen (outside or inside the clamshell) is a timer counting the duration of your call. I HATE this feature. I don't care didlysquat about how long I've been talking - but if I'm planning to meet soemone, I need to see the time.
Also, even though you can set more than one phone number for each contact, you can only put one number in each category (home, work, cell) AND if you want to put more than one of those on a speed dial, you have it set them up as a separate contact.
The user guide isn't very helpful. No one anticipated questions about the phone, so it pretty much gives you the bare minimum of info.
Ok... that's the only bad stuff.
The camera is great - three settings for quality. I thought the ring choices and loudness were fine... and the battery life seems very good also.
(It's just the little stuff that drives me nuts.)
:)
Nice phone:-)
I'd just like to say that I got this phone as a replacement phone and I judged it before I even received it. I was just going to buy a different phone on Ebay once I found out that it was the one I would be getting. Honestly I was mistaken and it honestly is a very nice phone.
I had the LG L1400i which I loved very much, but I am kind of partial to Motorola's even though I've had a total of 3 LG's. The LG short circuited and was toast basically. But Lock/Line worked with me to get a new phone.
Anywho.. I'll get to the Pros and Cons.
Pros:
Very Nice Screen
Easier interface than the L1400i
Very clear speakerphone
Awesome MP3 ringtones, something that I thought you could only get on a Motorola amd I'm very happy with them:-) On the 1400i it was a huge waste of 2.49 for a two second realtone
Also, very good battery life
Now heres the Cons:
The outside caller I.D. if you know the L1400i, you know that it was a 64K color screen on the outside, very very nice thing might I add.. But on the phone its just a bunch of stupid clouds:-(
The camera on the phone honestly isn't that great
Could have a bigger screen but hey, I'm not gonna complain
Good phone, and another pro, it hasn't frozen up on me yet which was a HUGE problem with the L1400i
I hope this helped the selected few that are interested!!
Basic Phone
I was pretty excited to receive this phone. I had been researching several different phones as I was switching to a new updated phone and this met all the needs I was looking for in phone. I was actually in the market for Samsung but they were not avail for Cingular at that time so I decided to go with this one. It is small and fits just about anywhere. It takes decent pictures for a cell phone I would say its the best that I have seen although it does not allow you to use the 2nd LCD to do this which can be inconvienent.Very loud volume on calls and ringtones. Can only use the assign message alert tones. Only one alarm setting. I had the phone for about a week and then it started to malfunction. First it wouldn't notify me that I had v/m so I shut off and on and now it wont stop notifying me of v/m even when there aren't any. I checked with provider and was told it must be the phone. Next day I wanted to take a picture and noticed the camera had a large purple box on the screen and now it wont go away. I also don't like the fact that you can not assign ring tones to specific callers which is what I am used to doing. Overall the phone was just a basic phone as all the other features started to malfunction in time. I did however find the Samsung I originally wanted and couldn't be happier. Better luck next time.
Not too bad (for free)
Pros -
nice feature set except...
Cons -
No PC Synchronization software is available (yet) - that means no image transfers, no Outlook merge, no ringtone downloads, etc. I waited 2 months for the cable to come in. LG recommends DataPilot, but it doesn't support the C2000. LG customer service won't refund the shipping charges for this cable and says its my fault for listening to them!
Low call volume
Poor menu design
enjoyed for a few days
The LG C2000 seemed like a great phone when I very first got it. After only a few days it began acting up, wouldn't ring, wouldn't let me call out. The problem was not the service, because my husbands and mothers phones who both have cingular had no trouble and when I started using my old phone again it worked. I was told to turn the LG phone off then on again. That seemed to work for a moment then just a few days after that I was doing that numerous times daily. Eventually, the phones display screen went totally blue and I would get messages three days after they were left. Finally, the phone would turn on but that's about it. For the first few days I thought it was a very neat phone took much clearer pictures than I had seen from other phones, easy to navigate and clear sound. I would have given it rave reviews if it only lasted. Now I have lost my pictures and am having trouble replacing it, so overall I would have been better off not upgrading my phone at all.
Don't waste your money
I don't know how others in these review were so lucky (or maybe they've been bribed).
I had two of these in two hours! Yes, TWO HOURS...the camera portion of the screen died within 120 minutes of owning it.
Two DAYS later I decided I had enough of the poor quality of volume range and the even worse speaker phone. Why should I sacrifice on clarity when spending nearly $100 of my hard-earned cash?
The image quality of the camera is poor and granular under any and all lighting conditions...it's my first and last LG phone....I'm going back to Nokia!!!!!
You get what you paid for
The bad:
Average battery life
Average Camera.
Average reception.
Worst ringtone ever.
Terrible menus.
Terrible sound
The good:
Price.
Keypad.
Inside screen.
As bas as the 1400 but cheaper.
Love this phone!
I've had this phone for about two weeks. My last phone was an lg1150 (on the cingular-former-att-customer network) and this phone is remarkably better.
First of all, I love the way lg has numbered their menus, navigation is sooooo much easier when you can select or even memorize menu numbers instead of all that down arrow, down arrow, down arrow crap you have to do to navigate thru a motorola phone.
Anyway, let me say that I feel the c2000 has the following things over my previous lg1150:
^better battery life
^the part you hear out of is MUCH louder
^better reception and less dead areas(although that could be b/c I've migrated to cingular now)
^better picture quality
^can use any size picture for photo i.d.
^music tones
^good speakerphone (the 1150 had none)
My only complaints would be that it is not bluetooth capable and it's not fun to look at (can't help it, I'm a chick).
Overall, this is a great phone.
