THE PHONE IS GREAT!! BUT...................
The phone is the greatest phone i ever had.but it is also the worse phone i ever had from the release date up until now.I have replace the phone 6 times.I havent drop it or any outrageous thing like that, it just doesnt work for longer then a month I have not had the phone longer then a month at a time. I want to trade in and get a new phone but there is no other phone that verizon has that can compare to the Q. It is so frustrating to pay full retail price for a Item of this caliber and not be satisfied. My new phone is coming two days from now and i am going to be stranded without a phone for 2 days. I love the phone but if buying it just know that you will replace it every 2-4 weeks
Great device, not meant to be a PDA!
I bought this phone a week ago because I wanted to be able to sync all my contacts, schedule and e-mail with Outlook on my pc. At first, I didn't like it very much. After a week I am finding that it is really excellent for what is does. Why would anyone want to edit documents or heavily sur the web on a thing like this? Heavy users all have a laptop to do that! This phone is simply a convenience item if you are on the road. The intention is NOT to replace a real pda or laptop, nor should it! But it does alot for its size, and for me everything that I need.
Pros:
1.It is intelligently designed, small to carry and very easy to use.
2. you can check e-mail or sync while on the phone! (not on Treo!)
3. VOICE DIALING! (not on the Treo!)
4. Excellent voice quality! (Philadelphia area)
Cons:
1.Software could be better. For example, when quitting explorer, you have to kill the program or it keeps running
2. Verizon support is not great, but that is nothing new!
Travel Back In Time With 'Motorola Q'
This phone is like the Atari 2000. It has all these neat new features from the future, but none of them work properly.
I found battery life overall to be adequate, the sound great, and the reception whatever, I've never had any problem with any phone really over reception.
My big problems are as follows.
1) SLOOOOOOWWWWW, press a button and wait.
2) AAAANNNNDDDD WAAAAAIIITTTTTT
3) OH SO SLOW
I purchased my phone in July, I have all of the updated software, 1 GIG mini sd, extended battery.
Specific problems that occur regulalry, or more then twice daily.
1. Need to restart the phone because it refuses to send txt, mms, and e-mail messages until restarted.
2. Ringer won't stop ringing until I remove battery, lost call of course.
3. Feedback, I'll answer the phone and it is just a loud screech. I don't know why, but the closer the phone is to my head the louder it gets. Helps keep deer away at night, maybe that's a good thing.
********** WHY I HATE THE Q **************
I started reporting problems about the Q to Verizon Wireless in late October, about three months after the purchase. The customer service reps would make comments like 'oh here's another one!,' or 'you're not the first,' and 'what a nightmare this phone is.' So they obviously were recieving numerous calls in reference to problems with the Q. So I guess MAGICALLY, now if you call, they treat you like you are the single individual in the US that has these problems. So through my own personal research I discovered that Verizon Wireless had instructed it's service reps to deny that the Motorola Q had any problems whatsoever.
I GUESS THAT'S WHY THE PRICE DROPPED TO $99!!
Hey, if you fancied the days before pentium processors, before laser printers, before cable TV, before electricity - get yourelsf a Q, because it fits right in there someplace. I have to go now, refill the ice box so my rations don't spoil. Fix a yoke on the oxen wagon or whatever. Oregon Trail.
Plan on getting another one!
PROs
EVERYTHING!!!!
CONs
NONE
I had this phone for a year and i loved it! I plan on getting another phone just like this. It worked great and i never had it freeze on me once. The internet was wonderfull and the fact that i could make my own ringtones and put them on it was just fabulous. I thought of it as a blackberry but with out all the hassel =)
Simply the Best
BY far tops the rest, no contest, who needs blackberry, except nothing but the best!!
Motorola's take at BB like phones, success or not?
Yes, it is a success. I got this phone after getting SOOOO excited about it, when I first got it, it was 2006, and it had been out for about a year i estimate. With the frequent shut down of the first device I had to go and have a new phone ordered. Which of course was the same phone I loved (Q) and I went back to loving this phone. Well I dropped it and the phone broke the full keyboard. While I was depressed about this, My Treo performed better, and my iPhone replacement for that proved better as well, but id still get this
Hmmm..
Ok...

Too Many Glitches
This was my first Motorola phone and it was probably the worst phone that I ever owned. It had too many glitches and always gave me problems. Sometimes I would be sending a text and it was just send the text right in the middle of me typing. The phone called people without me even knowing it at times. Th user-interface froze way too many times.
On the upside, the Qwerty keyboard was a huge plus. When I was able to send texts, i was able to send them quickly and somewhat accurately. The flash on the phone, although not intended for this use, was a huge plus as a flashlight at times.
THE BIGGEST PRO TO THIS PHONE: I found a way to create ringtones through iTunes and transfer them to Windows Media Player and then move them around in the File Manager folder to create my own ringtones.

Overall, I would not recommend this phone without some serious updates to the software.
A real piece
This phone has been out for a long time now and I don't see how it ever made it out of Motorola's testing. Seriously, you could probably DRIVE to wherever you're calling faster than this phone can call them! In order to place a call on this phone, you have to push the send button usually 5-6 times before it will actually call. Oh it will say it's calling but after about 10 seconds of silence, you look down and see that you are back to your main screen. So you have to repeat this over and over until it finally calls. When it does finally call, you have to wait another 10 to 15 seconds before it starts ringing. What a piece of crap! So to place a phone call, you better plan on having 2 to 3 minutes to waste before the phone will connect your call. Battery life is horrible as well. Text alerts will keep playing even after you have opened up the text and started reading it. Texting is a hit or miss. Most of the time a letter here or there won't show up when you push it on the keypad. The OS is super slow. When you go through picking ringers (when you can eventually find them buried) it takes 5 seconds or so before the ringer you picked actually plays. So plan on taking 15 minutes to listen to all the pre-loaded ringers before you get through all of them. Everything about this phone is S-L-O-W. This has to be one of the most intentionally destroyed phones by its owner in existence! All you want to do is smash it or throw it against a wall because it's so lame.
