Pro's
the key pad for easy texting
have had the phone for 1 year and hinge has held up, a little loose, however
great speakers
small and light
love the small keyboard!!!!
love the small sd card, down load the pictures on to the PC and wow very suprised how nice they are, good quality and printed some out.
Cons
the mp3 player buttons on the front will push when putting into pocket, the player will play without knowing.
the vibrate is not felt or heard a lot of the time.
LOTS oF DROPPED CALLs and people on the other end saying you What can't hear you would you repeat that.
I never had this happen with other phones from Verizon
This has been my worst phone ever and wish I could trade it in.
I am looking at other phones and their reception. I hike and go in to remote areas this phone looses signal fast. All other phones I have had, I have bragged about and loved that I got service out in the middle of no where. NOT THIS PHONE, I GET MADD and POUT
The screen scratches from the numbers. My wife has one too, hers has the same problems right done to the same scratches.
There are less key board functions and somethings that can be only used in the rotated postion.
I liked my envI better
dont like this phone
i havent had this phone for not even a year yet. nd ive had to exchange it twice already.
i think its good until it messes up once.
then after that it will jus keep messing up.
Great for texting
Hey, this phone is great if you text more then you talk like me. A not so great aspect of it is, ITS SOOOO SENSITIVE... I dropped it from 2 feet and it ****ed itself up, i had to get a new one, luckily they could replace it for free but... you know putting in all your contacts and get new ringtones/pictures etc...
Great for texting, but a WEAK design. another thing they could have changed is make it have a longer battery life... that makes me made, although i send over 100 texts a day it should hold up more then 1 day...
Could be better...
When I bought this phone I was all excited about the keyboard. Once I actually started to use it, I realized that I didnt really like it...
Pros:
QWERTY keyboard
dual flip
ability to view text messages on outside screen
buttons on front for music player
cons:
buttons are a little small for my taste
speakers arent that great
hinge weakens easily
Overall I am not completely dissatisfied with this phone. Its was a nice idea but I think that Samsung could have executed it a little better...
Worse phone I have ever owned!!!!!!!!!!
I have went through 3 of these phones since October 2007. This has been by far the most horrible phone I have had. Having used several different phone manufactures this one really takes the cake.
Pros:
The keyboard is very easy to use.
Well I guess that is all!!!!
Cons:
Battery Stinks
Locks up on you during texting
Screen goes blank for no reason
Does not get good signal
Well to tell you the truth the phone in general stinks. Would not recommend to anyone.
Unreliable Phone
I have had this phone for exactly one year, and I'm disapointed. I am currently using my third phone of the same model. First, two monthes after I bought it, the screen out side stopped working, for no reason, so I had it replaced. Then, my phone had a faulty battery connection or something, and they replaced it again. on my current phone the out side music keys do not work, my camera malfunctions and doesn't take clear pictures any more, and randomly half of my keyboard doesn't work. I was happy at first with this phone, but now, I'm sick of it
phone after a year and 3 months
my initial phone selection was based on the unique-ness of this phone. everybody was still in the rzr craze and this looked like the rzr with better features and it was all-in-all more attractive.
the size of the keyboard was never a problem for me. even to this day my hand is broken and i have a finger splint on with two fingers taped together.. i can still txt with two hands and quickly. it all just takes some time getting used to.
i love the picture quality, in fact, most of the pictures i put on my myspace and facebook come from this camera. however, i think the flash is what ruins it.
after having it for this long, the phone is still attached, if you pull it up it'll move but the hinges are still good. however, the battery life sucks. i'll be lucky if my phone lasts a day without going on the charger for a second time. i do basically only use my phone for txting and i average over 12,000 txt messages a month which could lead to the destruction of the battery but it should still be able to charge for at least a day.
Pros:
-unique look
-speakers give out excellent quality when phone is in landscape mode
-can be dropped several times a day and still works
-photo quality is good
-themes options for main menu are cute
Cons:
-if you're planning on using the AIM service, get another phone. the messages barley go through and they send multiple times
-no antenna so if your hand is blocking the bottom back cover of the phone which serves as the "antenna" you get poor reception, wherever you are
-battery life stinks
-shuts off from time to time
-WILL freeze in the middle of things
If you're willing to spend time looking into the phone and taking advantage of all it's options, this is a great phone. It takes, however, time and patients to get to navigate the entire phone and get used to the keyboard. Once Samsung works the bugs out, I'm sure it'll be wonderful. Until then, my new every two is up in 5 days and I'm getting the Voyager.
its ok
i'v had this phone about a year and i'v gone thru 2 of these phones. i text ALOT and after about 3-4 months the phone quit showing when ppl got my messages so i switched with my mom cuz she had the same phone and of course a few mpnths after i switched it did the same thing. it would say messeage sent but i could never see if anybody got any of my messages. it only did it with text messages it didn do it with picture/video messages. the keys take a little getting used to but i dont have a problem cuz i have small fingers. and sometimes the front screen lights up out of nowhere for a few seconds and goes back off but its not a problem. it works well. iv never had any technical problems except the message thing but that wasn't a big deal.i really like it personally but im gonna have to get a new phone cuz all within a week the charger port cover has snapped off, the end button came off and my keypad is totally peeled off. its like the adhesive on the keypad wore off. but overall i'v never had any major technological problem. i would recommend it for ppl who don't text alot like a teenager would. it has really cool features too
Not so bad...
I have owned this phone for about one year, and it has done me quite well. Before I discuss the PROS and CONS of this phone, I will admit that I try to stay ahead with technology, and frankly, I cannot keep up. This is one of the reasons I would not like to keep this phone. To me, it is getting old. If I still loved this phone, it would not be a 4.0, but a 5.0.
PROS:
Very, very many pros to this phone. It has a neat menu, two ways to "flip it", and it is a music phone. There are very many customization settings you can choose for this phone, such as the dial sounds, dial fonts, display themes (menu), clock format, flip duration (ability to switch from regular phone into qwerty capable phone), EVDO and 1X service bars, great charge (which will last for 3 days I believe), Text Messaging and Pix messaging are very nice, and very durable. My phone has been dropped about 20 times from standing position and only a little scratch (no cracks!), rain has hit it and hit it hard (no cracks or water!). And best of all, IT'S A SAMSUNG! It has to be great!
CONS:
As others have said, this phone's keyboard is very small so for the people with big fingers, this phone is not for you. It is a bit hard to work with if you have not tried to use the buttons before.
Also, the camera is not very sharp. You cannot zoom in on it either. The picture is not a great one and are very small when trying to upload onto computer. It becomes smaller than the original picture on your camera!
Very happy with this one
I'll start by saying I treat my electronics carefully but not TOO carefully. I'm probably about average in how much I pay attention to the general "safety" of my phone.
I've had the Alias since October and I've had NO major problems with it so far. In fact other than some scratches on the back (and this is my fault, I have a bad habit of setting it on a desk and spinning it), it still looks new. The screen is also VERY scratch resistant.
The qwerty keyboard is amazing. I've seen it get mixed reviews, but after the first week I got used to it. It's very easy to text fast. The only downside to the keyboard is I think the backspace key and the numlock key could be a little bigger in exchange for compromising the size of the "fn" key (which I have never used) and the enter key (which I have also never used).
The camera is great, when I look at the pics I've taken on the computer, they're large and high quality. There's a wide capture angle when you open the phone in texting mode. The only thing I notice sucks it its ability to take closeup pictures. My last phone could focus very closeup, but this one just gets blurry if you get to close :( Still, amazing camera.
Also, the phone looks GREAT. I have the black one. It's lightweight and still has the sleek little Samsung look that other full qwerty phones don't (IE The Rumor, EW).
I've had this phone 9 months and have had no problem with the hinge coming loose as some people have reported. It still works like new.
Pros:
-Looks amazing
-Great speaker quality
-easy and fast to text
-good camera
-easy interface
-durable
-GREAT battery life (even with CONSTANT texting I only charge 3x a week)
-Full service bars EVERYWHERE (< 3 Verizon)
Cons:
-Inbox capacity SUCKS. Hopefully the next model will have an upgrade
-Sometimes phone lags if people call while I'm texting
---
FYI, if you are not "textually active" this phone is probably frustrating. For regular texters - couldn't be better!
